Marijuana farms grown by hippies in Nor Cal = :-)

Marijuana farms run by ruthless Mexican cartels who employ nasty street gangs like "18th street" for distribution = baaaaaaaaad

What kind of sick fark has to ruin the joy of smoke for everyone?

A better question is "what is all the fark on the airport runway to the NW of the creek?"

This "war on drugs" is really a war on poor people.

Two things happened this past week-

1. Willie Nelson gets caught with over a pound of pot and some mushrooms. Misdemeanor slap on the wrist.

2. In Schenectady, NY, a police swat team busted down a door, handcuffed 11- and 12-year old kids, and shot the family pet ( a pit bull cowering in the bathroom) to death. A search of the apartment turned up no drugs or weapons.

All because the 18-year old in the family had sold sixty dollars worth of pot to a "police informant."

Well, I think one reason cops like to go after pot is because pot smokers tend to be... well... hippies. You know what they say about cops and hippies. They get along like a house on fire. Also, your local potheads don't tend to have AK-47s with armor-piercing bullets and labs full of deadly explosive chemicals. This is a bonus.

It sounds like only the victims side of the story, but I think its probably the most correct one. That is seriously farking sad, and I'll bet those kids grow up with an eternal fear of law enforcement.

//about to smoke up right now
///wake and bake......LEAGALIZE

2006-09-24 11:51:36 AM
ok, I'm in the wake 'n' bake crowd, sad to see that much weed go poof, but do I think it'll hurt my prices here in the southeast? Probably not. As others have said, It's a big country, with lots of places to grow, especially now with LEDs that are the correct color temp for grow lights, Hell, you could power a grow setup with batteries now, no worries of skyrocketing electrical bills, you could use USBto charge said batteries. hmmmmm. USB grow light, anyone?

That's the old El Toro base, yellow X's on there because the runways are closed. The black marks are from people autocrossing and racing go-karts.

ProductivePothead:

I agree, the article sounds a bit one-sided, but the police statement can be summed up as "Yeah, we did it- tough shiat, that kid sold some pot."

Freakin' waste of my tax dollars...

pffft thats nothing. there was a near 50,000 plants from southern oregon just recently.

ever see a big plant?
Blend in real nice. I knew a guy who had some. Asked me to look over there in his yard in an over grown area, what do you see? He had to point out a giant pot plant mixed in the other folage. It was a freekin pot tree. Huge!

SOB stole mine a year later...boy that was fustrating after growing from seeds and taking care of them for so long and then the big sob steals them.
I was a punk kid, he was fully grown looser, most likely dead or close to it by now the way he smoked those cowboy killer's. That would be justice I guess.

With my luck, he quit smokin, started watchin Jack Lelang, turned into a fitness guru and now is a vegitarian ironman contestant!

Marijuana will eventually be legalized as a last ditch effort by the government to stave off full-on Revolution by its people.

2006-09-24 01:35:31 PM
Only morons want to legalize it. The effect that would have on everything relating to weed would totally change for the worse.

Decriminalize it.

Sheila_McSly: Also, your local potheads don't tend to have AK-47s with armor-piercing bullets and labs full of deadly explosive chemicals. This is a bonus.

Yeah I think it's worthy to note the lack of any weapons or threat of violence here. .22 rifle, crossbow, pellet gun. None of these are effective weapons for defense against humans. Well a .22 can do some damage but it would hardly be the gun of choice for stopping someone. These definitely sound like exclusively varmit-hunting tools chosen to be as *quiet* as possible.

Crossbow, he he. I got a thing for crossbows. That's a weapon with style.

"What did you shoot him with? An airgun?"
"Look, we grow weed. We're not mercenaries."
"You... don't... say."

hauntr888: Only morons want to legalize it. The effect that would have on everything relating to weed would totally change for the worse.

how so? It seems to have worked rather well for alcohol.

I understand the decrim end...dealers still have the control and power therefore the crimes over territory will still occur (if you think this doesn't happen now I suggest you take a trip to Nuevo Laredo) With legalization (I know, teh ebil gubbernment is EBIL) this isn't an issue because I've never heard of two headshops going to war over a streetcorner or an AM/PM owner shooting a Piggly-Wiggly employee over a deal gone bad.

Understand that when I say legalization I mean "100% across the board let Darwin sort 'em out in the end" legalization of EVERYTHING.

It's a compromise and is the ONLY way that even decriminalization will happen.

no pot bust is as cool as this place

Huge Pot Bust(pops)

This grow was underneath a house in a cave. The entrance was through a secret hydraulic door in the Garage that led to a concrete ramp that went about 50 yards into the ground. Inside the cave was living quarters and a secret escape hatch that Led you through a tunnel that exited via another hydraulic door that opened up a rock on the outside.

The set up Allowed them to harvest every 60 days which resulted in multi-million Dollar sales. One of the guys busted was living in a house on the water in FL. and had a nice yacht. One of the agents here in Nashville worked on this for 5 years Before the warrant was finally served in December.

fear? try contempt as a best case scenario, outright hate as worst case, anyway this is a natural progression when you militarize police tactics and equipment.

the most interesting dynamic that the war on drugs has shown is that it in fact creates its own enemies through legislation. maybe the war on "terror" will have the exact same effect, creating homegrown "terrorists" when there would have been none.

Just LEGALIZE the damn thing and you wouldn't have such a strong black market.

You've lost the war on drugs, the people still like to smoke, and overall violent crimes are down. LET THE PEOPLE SMOKE, and go after the cocaine dealers and heroin meth heads.

Dihnekis Any predictions on how many years it takes before full legalization?

I say 15.

You live in an alternate reality I think.

I doubt it will happen within our lifetimes. Anslinger's 1920's - 1950's campaign was simply far too successful. The culture of fear and racism the USA has concerning marijuana is incredibly deeply entrenched outside whatever insular liberal enclave it is you live in.

The 1960's hardly managed to dent it, yet you think the 2000's and 2010's will make some huge difference?

Pot is listed Schedule I in the US, meaning it's considered as dangerous to society as heroin. To put that in perspective, cocaine, pure opium, and methamphetamine are Schedule II, the next category down: they are allowed for medical use.

I dunno... again, I could care less personally, but the bigger picture... it just seems like my generation, folks born in the late 70's early 80's, and maybe others too... are a bit more skeptical of government control of a lot of things. I just really think it'll be interesting in another 20-30 years when we're in charge.

Of course, if we keep this culture of fear going for a generation or two, just wait until they're old.

I live in Mission Viejo...and I've sworn for years that I've smelt some FINE weed just driving around.

Thought I was just a pothead.

Now I'm a pothead and I'm right!

Let's legalize all drugs and get the criminal element out. Tax and regulate, spend a portion of the tax money on rehab and education. Sure, there will be some casualties with the harder drugs, but it's not like they wouldn't have been casualties under the current prohibition regime. By removing the criminal element, you decrease a lot of the collateral damage to bystanders.

There would NOT be "more casualties" from harder drugs! In the current environment, with mj grouped in with harder drugs in the Black Market, there are, but if you remove mj from the Black Market you thereby separate it from harder drugs.
