I have even walked that promenade that got bombed in Marmaris.

Well, having never been there, then why does there seem to be such a paradox in that country?

Is it cool or NOT?

Sounds like it's a bad idea to try and get stoned there...

Damn I would pay good money for someone to throw her in a Turkish prison.

Well, both.
There seem to be a lot of nice, simple people there.
I mean simple in a good way.
The smiles are genuine.

And hearing the mezzhuins really makes you want to be quiet and listen.

But, some of the police have eyes that really give me the chills.

Maybe Gwyneth Paltrow is a Turkish spy.

Go directly to Guantanamo. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I agree: nothing. "People forget that the brain is the body's largest erogeneous zone." The longer I live, the more I am convinced that intelligence makes everything easier and better. Likewise, smarter girls will do "everything" better.

Less "OW, Wait, no, uh... nevermind."

And more "OH DON'T STOP, YES, YES!"

The woman in the BBC article photo looks like Paltrow....if a tractor ran over her face....

it's very cool. I'm quitting my lawyer job and moving to Turunc (next to Marmaris) next April to work in this hotel:

Piynar Villa

Although Islamists are trying their damndest to intimidate Turks, it ain't happening. Most Turks are very secular; they're nothing like Saudis or most Arab Muslims. Great place; come for a vacation.

For a second I was going to post "Gwyneth is looking old these days". That is a striking resemblance. The real Gwyneth is much hotter though.

/would hit it
//realistically, I would hit either of the two

her looks aside

what exactly and how did they figure she insulted the Turkish Spirit?

/honest question read the article, and still confused.

For the record, I'm tired of stories with a picture that bears a passing resemblence to a celebrity...

...would have been much more interesting if it actually involved Gwyneth

2006-09-21 07:39:24 PM
It looks like Gwyneth has been spending way too much time in the sun.

And, I like my turkey with mashed potatoes, asparagus and gravy... thank you.

Because she is an alcoholic.

Gwyneth is a babe as long as she is dressed up in that '40s Skycaptain outfit. Oh, and the soft-filter camera lens effect they used filming the movie also helped.

2006-09-21 07:56:17 PM
Turkishness?

"People forget that the brain is the body's largest erogeneous zone."

On some people, maybe.

humaniacal: what exactly and how did they figure she insulted the Turkish Spirit?

You know how in Germany it is a crime to deny the Holocaust? Well its the exact opposite in Turkey. In Turkey, it's a crime to publically admit to the Armenian genocide that happened during WWI. Turkey does not have freedom of speech like Western nations do and it is one of the most fiery patriotic countries on the planet, right up with the US, Russia, France, etc. If you're a scholar or artist you can get in big trouble talking about the Armenian genocide, and the vast majority of people living in Turkey think its all a big lie concocted by foreign powers and those filthy lying Armenians.

Also, minorities in Turkey, most notably the Kurds, are treated like crap. Up until a few years ago it was illegal for the Kurds to speak or write their own language.

The author is better looking.

EddyKilowatt: You appear to have missed 'Shakespeare in Love'. Please return to your studies.

not really, she looked much better in the Skycaptain movie.
maybe its because she gained a few lbs.

or maybe 30's-40's fashions are more flattering than late fourteenth century fashions.

2006-09-21 08:31:53 PM
Who gives a flying fark what the Turks think. They are filthy barbarians.

Constantinople, and Smyrna were once beautiful, and envied cities of the West, until the Turks came in and destroyed them.
