I never said implied or insinuated that no fault falls on this dude. No "Aw, poor him." He's the murderer. If the systems builds a boy to come out to be this man. He is in prison for life without parole. His options are now death penalty, or die in prison at some point.

I'm not sure what exactly you're getting at, but in this case the death penalty did exist and Handy still committed the murder, therefore it wasn't a detterent. That he wanted to spare his own life after being caught is another matter entirely.

Nice speech. Have you ever worked in a maximum security prison infirmary? I have. Within the past 2 years. There were rapes, there were stabbings, there were people set on fire, people falling down stairs. This I know for a fact because I personally wrote the medical report on each and every one.

Honesty is overrated.

This guy was only honest to ensure he wouldn't get the just penalty. His plea had nothing to do with accepting responsibility. His comments show that he holds remorse in lower regard than his bad ass image even after what would be a sobering experience of murdering three people.

And man can be brought to tears. This guy's image can be shattered with a pair of pliers, and there exists situations where he would easily succumb to pleading and tears as would any man. I would like to see him wake up to one of those situations. It would be hard for him to hold his badass image afterwards. Maybe then he would not be afraid of kindness.

Here are the steps;

Remove lower jaw with hammer and pruning shears.

Break limb bones and slowly extend them to useless lengths with midget hightening screws so that he resembles a spider.

No haven't worked in one. My sister's mother in law was a PA for a couple of the jails and prisons in Oklahoma and heard many a story about having to take care of some guy that was raped, stabbed, beaten, or almost killed. Along with my wife going for her criminal justice degree and a few friends that did time in prison.

While prison is no picnic it isn't this non-stop rape party people on Fark think it is.

Uh, he went into prison for taking a BASEBALL BAT to someone's HEAD. Prison may have sped up the journey (perhaps), but he was on the road already and would have gotten there on his own eventually.

Hell no to the hero tag, but I'll admit that I appreciate his honesty and personal responsibility - even though it was murder he's admitting to. Hard to decide if he needs to go feet first into a wood chipper or spend his life in solitary.

I saw this guy on the news. The video was especially noxious, even his mom was upset over his taunting and laughing. The worst was when the victim's family was crying and making their statements, he just smiled and kept rocking on his feet. And then when he spoke, I hoped someone would punch him - "I deserve to die because I kill people, shoot people, all that stuff." Less creepy or manly, more stupid. Not a badass, just a dumbass. Life in prison will teach him a thing or two. Especially since this state isn't too keen on the death penalty, which I'm okay with. Isn't it better to make someone suffer through assraping and death threats daily, rather than just sit in solitary everyday until he's legally injected or hung (what is offered in the state)?

You may not have said that, but often the refrain of anti-death penalty people, when discussing cases where the deed is particularly heinous and the guilt in no question, is that killing him would be wrong because it's even worse to leave him alive. Look back in the thread and there are examples near the top. That's reasoning based on vindictiveness.

Executing a murderer is justice. Just kill him, and have done with him. Waste no more time or energy on him of any sort.


The prescribed punishment is life in prison. That was the deal made so that there wouldn't be a years-long court battle. That's the way the system has worked, so [ heheheh ] now, everyone has to live with it.


If that's what they decided, fine... But I see no reason it must be this way. Appeals are necessary and good, but the appeals process in these cases has gotten way out of control.

So just because something doesn't work perfectly 100% of the time is not a reasonable argument against it. In fact, it's an entirely emotional argument whose entire purpose is to create an unreasonable and unobtainable standard by which to judge this.

If the vast majority of planes make it to their destinations just fine, but every so often you lose one, then there's no good reason to outlaw air travel... it's just too important and usefull. A few will die, and that's how the world is... imperfect. You feel bad for the people who die and work hard to minimize those losses and then go on living in our imperfect world.

Same thing with the legal system... If the vast majority of cases go through just fine, but someone gets screwed every so often, then so be it. We work hard to minimize the losses and continue on. It's too important to scrap over the unreasonable and unobtainable standard that it be the ONLY thing in the world that is 100% defect free.
