Ha ha, Jashter! Reminds me a bit of the "Smoking is glamorous" poster my high school physics teacher had.

Should this surprise anyone this is in Zimbabwe? The only things that Zimbabwe seems to have in abundant supply are (1) rage at the white farmers, (2) corruption in the government, and (3) soon-to-be starving people. Much of the rest of Africa has tried to get on with postcolonial life, but maybe because Zimbabwe's independence came pretty late, anticolonial fervor seems to still work.

This makes sense. When I was in for a week once, they took away my belt, my shoelaces, anything long and ropelike; my wallet, credit cards, et al, most everything I had except my clothes. But they still let us go outside for 15 minutes every hour and a half so we could smoke. Apparently even the ass-daisy doctors recognize that no matter what else they might strip you of, there is NO WAY they are ever going to make any progress with you if they don't let you smoke.

I mean, ummm, what? Mental hospital? I was never in a mental hospitsal. What the fark?

I've found that I'm not addicted to the nicotine so much as the ACT of smoking. Today I've simply been taking the same number of "smoke breaks", and substituting a dum dum sucker for the actual cigarette. So far, so good...
