THIS is what politicians do now?

2006-09-15 07:00:04 PM
Much better to ignore the people...especially liver-eating goose-haters.

2006-09-15 07:01:53 PM
Those French'll eat anything, I'll tell you what.

2006-09-15 07:01:54 PM
Considering that he called it "silly" the day it was passed, sure.

2006-09-15 07:02:44 PM
Duck duck duck duck duck duck GOOSE !

2006-09-15 07:02:50 PM
Why is that a bad thing? All this flip-flop nonsense is absurd. He is a representative, and as such should listen to his constituants. Good polititians are of two types, so long as they are upfront about what they are, 1) this type who listens to the people 2) One who stands by his/her principles (and makes them known). The bad politicians are the corrupt ones, open to the highest bidder.

Has anyone SEEN what happens to these animals before they killed? As if taking their lives into your own hands isn't egotistical enough...

What a jerk! Where are all the compassionate people in the world? Oh wait, they're obviously all gone.

Foie gras: cruelty has never tasted better. Follow it up with some veal and you're good to go.

Puppy livers are still okay, right?

NEWSLFASH!

Sometimes animals eat other animals.

2006-09-15 07:07:10 PM
Foie Gras : okay, so they take a goose, jam a funnel down its throat, force feed it until it develops a fatty unhealthy liver, then kill it so some rich twits can feel all snobby and sophisticated about gobbling down its aforementioned mashed up nasty internal organ.

Who the hell comes up with ideas like this?

I know, I know, the French. The people who brought us the guillotine and mimes.

2006-09-15 07:07:59 PM
Jument: "Most of the compassionate people in the world eat meat every day of their lives. That's life for ya."

That's life.

That's not compassion.

Just settling for it doesn't make it right. It makes you lazy.

And by the way, no compassionate person eats meat. Simply saying you're compassionate doesn't make you a good person. That's absurd.

2006-09-15 07:09:12 PM
FunkOut, I rofl'd at that last line.

I propose we eat the rich instead.

veganschmegan:

If we weren't supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

veganschmegan

Then why not ban foie gras production (none of which actually occurs in Chicago)?

2006-09-15 07:10:24 PM
Oh please, the mayor has been saying it was silly since day one.

2006-09-15 07:10:40 PM
I've never tried foie gras, but I love me some kobe beef. Hey, at least the cows are happy. They get lots of beer and lots of belly rubs.

2006-09-15 07:10:44 PM
untrustworthy: "NEWSLFASH! Sometimes animals eat other animals."

Yes, predators in the wild kill other animals. So? They actually eat for survival. They have a predator-prey relationship. Without one, the other would not survive.

On the other hand, humans breed, cage, torture, neglect, abuse and slaughter animals for food.

THAT is not natural. It is killing humans (though not fast enough) with all kinds of self-inflicted diseases like high blood pressure, heart attacks, diabetes, you name it. Wow, what a great idea.

Only an idiot would compare those two scenarios.

Fat Hamburger laughs at you.

2006-09-15 07:11:16 PM
veganschmegan: I'm sorry that you are crazy, really I am. But it's not my fault honest.

I eat meat because I'm programmed that way by thousands of years of evolution. That and because it is tasty. I bet you do many things every day that causes animals to suffer in some way so don't pretend you are prefect.

Hint: Do you have a roof over your head? Where'd that wood come from? Some animals habitat, that's where. You bastid!

2006-09-15 07:11:20 PM
veganschmegan: That's not compassion.

You damned planet abuser! Don't you realize they have feelings?

Just settling for it doesn't make it right. It makes you lazy.

Or normal.

And by the way, no compassionate person eats meat. Simply saying you're compassionate doesn't make you a good person. That's absurd.

So only veggie-eaters are compassionate? Pfft. Nice inflated sense of self you have there.

2006-09-15 07:13:15 PM
George W. Bush is a COMPASSIONATE Conservative, and he probably eats foie gras. That's life for ya.

Probably lights his Cuban cocaine-laced cigars with the Bill of Rights, too, but that's besides the point.

2006-09-15 07:13:39 PM
Geese are horrible little hissing crap factories. Anything that kills them is ok in my book, if people enjoy the meat, all the better.

2006-09-15 07:13:43 PM
This is another reason why I think humans are the most ridiculous animals ever. Our ability to think and reason is going to be our downfall. Emotions, personal beliefs, and opinions just ruin all the fun for everyone.

Never heard that one before. I like it. Can I use it?

Jument and untrustworthy:

You think being "normal" and "lazy" and "unoriginal" is a GOOD thing?

I'm sorry you can't do the right thing because you're too busy eating things that are "tasty." I find that funny.

You, on the other hand, won't find it funny when you spend half of your life, like most americans do, on some medication or in a hospital because you don't take care of yourself.

You guys have to come up with some actual reasons for your stupidity. Unless you're just "programmed" that way, too.

Some poeple spend their lives TRYING to do good things for the environment, other beings - human and nonhuman - but sadly and clearly, you two are not one of those people.

veganschmegan: Yes, predators in the wild kill other animals. So? They actually eat for survival. They have a predator-prey relationship. Without one, the other would not survive.

Animals also have sex in the wild in order to pass on their genes. Humans have the ability to bypass this act. Should we stop having sex as well?

On the other hand, humans breed, cage, torture, neglect, abuse and slaughter animals for food.

And if other animals had our intelligence, they'd be doing the same thing.

THAT is not natural. It is killing humans (though not fast enough) with all kinds of self-inflicted diseases like high blood pressure, heart attacks, diabetes, you name it. Wow, what a great idea.

You have to die of something. People were never supposed to live to be 150 farking years old. My goal in life is happiness, not longevity.

Only an idiot would compare those two scenarios.

Humans are animals, and some animals naturally eat other animals. Get over it.

2006-09-15 07:17:55 PM
In case you guys are wondering, the rambling irrationality of your posts don't hurt the feelings of people who are proud of who they are.

You guys should really try to be better people by doing something good - rather than just trying to talk down about something you don't or won't understand. It's not going to help you. Then again, if that's where your pathetic sense of self-esteem comes from, maybe it'll keep you going until you can bully some kid on the playground tomorrow.

So go right ahead. At least I'll get a laugh out of it.

2006-09-15 07:18:05 PM
Daley has ALWAYS been against this ban. There is no more business friendly chap than the mayor.

2006-09-15 07:18:29 PM
Murphyr: Then why not ban foie gras production

The two major domestic producers of foie gras are located in California and New York, which respectively have bans on the production that go into effect in a few years. Really rather makes this all a moot point.

JBalkwill: Geese are horrible little hissing crap factories. Anything that kills them is ok in my book, if people enjoy the meat, all the better.

I love animals, but I can see where you're coming from, having had geese hiss at me after my golf ball landed near them on the fairway before. I got hissed and honked at when I was contemplating my approach shot. I had to watch my step to dodge their turds walking all the way up to the green.

2006-09-15 07:19:46 PM
veganschmegan: You think being "normal" and "lazy" and "unoriginal" is a GOOD thing?

I believe eating meat is good and natural. That's all.

I'm sorry you can't do the right thing because you're too busy eating things that are "tasty." I find that funny.

The right thing is eating what makes me happy and feels good. I don't get that from tofu and salads. Sorry.

You, on the other hand, won't find it funny when you spend half of your life, like most americans do, on some medication or in a hospital because you don't take care of yourself.

I take good enough care of myself. I'm healthy, fit, and enjoy life. Again, my goal isn't to live to be 150. It's to enjoy life to its fullest.

You guys have to come up with some actual reasons for your stupidity. Unless you're just "programmed" that way, too.

How is eating meat stupid? It's natural. Our bodies are designed to consume meat along with a mixture of other foods in our natural diet.

Some poeple spend their lives TRYING to do good things for the environment, other beings - human and nonhuman - but sadly and clearly, you two are not one of those people.

I do what I can. But I'm not putting the life of a farking bird above my own. That's just pathetic.

untrustworthy

You don't get it at all, do you? Death is no big deal. Everything must die. So? Vegans aren't trying to live forever. Are you even paying attention? It's about QUALITY not quantity. Not just my life - but the quality of other lives on this planet. Clearly, you are only thinking about yourself. Not only are factory farms cruel and unimaginable - they're polluting and the most environmentally destructive force in the country. What kind of planet do you want to give to your children? A disgusting, filthy, carcinogenic one, clearly.

And do you really think it's intelligent to eat the flesh and drink the breast milk of other animals? Honestly? Seriously? Maybe you should take a look around you... see what that is doing to the American people. Sad, sad.

And I have no idea why you would compare sex and food. So, because it's unethical to take the life of another being for fun (i.e. a hamburger) - then we should also not have sex, because other animals have sex? What the hell are you talking about?

veganschmegan: In case you guys are wondering, the rambling irrationality of your posts don't hurt the feelings of people who are proud of who they are.

You're arrogant. If you don't want to eat animals, nobody is going to force you. Personally, I think it's pretty silly, but what do I care. I enjoy eating meat. I also like eggs, cheese, milk, etc. It's part of my normal diet. Surviving on salad and tofu is no way to live, IMO.

2006-09-15 07:21:53 PM
Arguing with untrustworthy gets ya nowhere.

This should be good :P

2006-09-15 07:22:43 PM
So now he decides to care about the will of the people? His poll numbers must've really taken a dive. Or some Restaraunt owner is a big campaign contributer. Nobody cares if his entire administration makes Chicago the most corrupt city in the nation, but mess with dinner of a couple rich people and watch him backpedal.

Nobody cared this much when he broke federal laws, misapropriates millions of dollars in money, and bulldozed an airport in the middle of the night.

untrustworthy: I do what I can. But I'm not putting the life of a farking bird above my own. That's just pathetic.

It's a goose people, a goose. What's next, chocolate covered ants? mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

vegan-
meat is a perfect food source of fatty protiens that allow my brain to function and grow. Meat makes me smarter. The fact that you don't eat meat is possibly an explanation for your lack of reasoning ability.

veganschmegan: It's about QUALITY not quantity.

The quality of my life is much better if I eat meat, it'll probably reduce the quantity of my life, but living as a self-righteous vegan douchebag is no way to live.

people like veganschmegan make me embarassed to be vegetarian.

"How is eating meat stupid? It's natural. Our bodies are designed to consume meat along with a mixture of other foods in our natural diet."

As a matter of fact, we have a long disgestive tract, like a herbivore. Carnivores have very short tracts, so the meat doesn't decompose before they can digest it. What do you think irritates a colon and causes cancer? Why do you think they have to be "cleaned" when an American reaches middle age?

The pH of our bodies is the exact same as herbivores, not carnivores. This causes all types of problems with people consume too much protein (your body must leech calcium from your bones to remove the protein and lower your pH - can someone say osteoporosis?)

Meat was only necessary before refrigeration and modern technolgoies. There's no reason at all for it now. Eating it only hurts you - and other living things. And I don't care if someone wants to kill themselves... just don't hurt others in the process.

That's all.

veganschmegan: You don't get it at all, do you? Death is no big deal. Everything must die. So? Vegans aren't trying to live forever. Are you even paying attention? It's about QUALITY not quantity.

Like I said before, sacrificing the foods I like isn't going to improve the quality of my life.

Not just my life - but the quality of other lives on this planet. Clearly, you are only thinking about yourself.

All animals think of their own concerns first. It's natural. If bears had an IQ of 100, they'd be ranching all the animals they enjoy eating. It's natural, and it's normal.

Not only are factory farms cruel and unimaginable - they're polluting and the most environmentally destructive force in the country. What kind of planet do you want to give to your children? A disgusting, filthy, carcinogenic one, clearly.

Eating meat =/= destroying the environment. Hunters have been doing this for millions of years.

And do you really think it's intelligent to eat the flesh and drink the breast milk of other animals? Honestly? Seriously? Maybe you should take a look around you... see what that is doing to the American people. Sad, sad.

Americans are getting fat because our bodies are programmed to want more food than we need. In the wild it keeps us fat enough to survive the tough times. But since there is no longer much concern about starvation, we have to learn moderation. But that has nothing to do with excluding meat from our diets.

And I have no idea why you would compare sex and food. So, because it's unethical to take the life of another being for fun (i.e. a hamburger) - then we should also not have sex, because other animals have sex? What the hell are you talking about?

Sex and eating meat are both natural for humans. That is why I make the comparison.
