Shouldn't that be "hatched" and not "born"?

Jabber

Shouldn't that be "hatched" and not "born"?

Flamingos are marsupials, and their young reside in the pouch of the male flamingo, nursing until they are weaned. The eggs, as they are incorrectly called, are held in the males pouch. That's why the "eggs" are nurtured by the males. And since they're not really birds, as most people are led to believe, they are born rather than hatched.

It's simple logic.

Baton Rogue has a zoo?

My thoughts exactly.

halcyon thought

Have you ever driven by those places on the interstate in the middle of nowhere, where the roadside folk have "(Insert Exotic Animal) In A Cage!!!!!" or whatever...

I present to you, the Baton Rouge Zoo.

I think we're up to a 3-legged giraffe, a mildly retarded donkey, and a wildebeest with mange now.

Oh, and apparently, a baby Chilean flamingo.

Sigh. To live near a real city must be nice.

"Isn't that a magnificant beauty? Now the Chilean flamingo can grow to be five feet tall, with razor sharp talons and an appitite for blood! --You're all right mate, you're all right! Easy there! Let's see what happens if I prod it in the face with this stick!

...oooh, it didn't like that."
