Chac, the Mayan rain god, says "You're welcome."

2006-09-14 09:16:04 PM
No, I don't remember.

2006-09-14 09:16:50 PM
Yeah, because it will never rain again unless you pray. And of course, it only took more than a month to finally rain. God must have been on vacation and forgot to check his voicemail until just now.

2006-09-14 09:17:06 PM
Would it surprise anyone if this "mayor" started predicting eclipses? And if his constituents were equally amazed?

Why isnt there a Texas tag?

2006-09-14 09:19:10 PM
Yeah...we got drenched.
There aren't any gutters here, so the ditches start overflowing after about an hour of rain.
My roomate was comming back from the grocery story, ran through a 'puddle', and flooded his engine. Almost totaled it...

2006-09-14 09:20:27 PM
13 wrecks?

Why don't Texans just learn how to drive?

2006-09-14 09:20:51 PM
Why isnt there a Texas tag?

because then you would have to give everyone tags, and you have to draw a line somewhere.

fark prayers

Where do you all sleep when you get drunk.

wow this guy is nuts

2006-09-14 09:22:58 PM
Yeah we all know that people aren't complete idiots when it comes to driving in the rain.

2006-09-14 09:24:37 PM
Of course praying for rain works; you just pray until it rains.

/Duh.
//The power of selective memory at work.

2006-09-14 09:25:31 PM
I was praying for car wrecks, and look what happened.

2006-09-14 09:26:26 PM
July 30th was the prayer day, and now nearly two months later, as we get closer to fall and winter it rains?

/Farking amazing.

2006-09-14 09:27:36 PM
I was praying for drought and stupidity.

2006-09-14 09:28:15 PM
I'm surprise these kinds of people can drink a glass of water without drowning.

2006-09-14 09:34:01 PM

Lubbockites said, "Sometimes he's going to say yes. Sometimes he's going to say no."

HAHA! Sounds like a very unreliable god to me.

2006-09-14 09:37:58 PM
They prayed, it rained, therefore the rain is a result of their prayers because it never rains in September in Lubbock, Texas. As the following clearly shows:

That trunk's full of Pearl and Lone Star.

2006-09-14 09:40:55 PM
What would happen if all of the rest of us prayed for fire to pour down in Lubbock? Sometimes he says yes, right? Right?!

It's a stupid place. We'd be better off.

2006-09-14 09:45:26 PM
And thus god did smite Texas, yet their brains lacking in rationality they praised his name and beggared for more.

/Agnostic

2006-09-14 09:45:48 PM
They should pray for the city to allow liquor and beer to be sold within city limits...

2006-09-14 09:46:37 PM
Lubbockites said, "Sometimes he's going to say yes. Sometimes he's going to say no. This time he said yes for Lubbock and all the South Plains not just for Lubbock."

That pretty much sizes up the laws of nature. What is scary, though, is that some seriously farking ignorant idiots will vote for him because it rained.

/"seriously farking ignorant idiots" is a very generous characterization.

I have a rock that repells dragons. Haven't seen a single one since I got it...Didn't see any before that but that has everything to do with chance and nothing to do with the magic of the Anti-Dragon Rock.

homosaur: 13 wrecks?
Why don't Texans just learn how to drive?

No kidding. I grew up in Montana where you learn to drive in snow and ice as soon as you get a learner's permit. It's a valuable experience to know how to handle a vehicle in that weather.

Now I live in Vegas and there are wrecks left and right after the slightest little sprinkle of rain. People just have no idea how to drive on anything but a dry road here.

2006-09-14 10:00:15 PM
This is how people mistake natural phenomenon for magic. You don't PRAY for rain... you do the rain dance. I thought everyone knew that!!

So God made the Earth in 7 Days, but took 2 1/2 months to make it rain over Southern Boot Lick, Texas? Little bugger's slowing down in His old age.

2006-09-14 10:12:43 PM
well, I'm sorry, I only just heard of these people's plight recently and I sent the rain as quick as I could.

thank you for all the prayers.

What a glorious thing such ignorance must be.

Pray for rain. If it rains within the next couple of months, God answered your prayers!

If it doesn't rain, well, then God works in mysterious ways/you didn't deserve the rain because you are sinners/the gays are getting married and this is the punishment.

Glory, glory Hallelujah.

Boy, you were you way off. If it didn't rain earlier it's because they didn't tithe enough at churh or to the TV tither guy. You know, the guy with the perfectly done hair who's squinting all the time.

churh = church

Mayor: Coincidence? I think not.

Nothing is ever a coincidence. I attribute all events to divine providence. God works in mysterious ways. All things happen through him. We are borg. Wait, scratch that last part...

Well, what's time to god anyway? I imagine a day for him might equal 10k years for us. They're lucky he got to them that fast. I hear his appointment calendar was pretty darn full.

No "Texas Rain Prayer Thread" Can Ever Have Enough Chaac.

www.anthroarcheart.org

So when is someone going to offer up their bleeding pumping heart in return?

Gov. Rick Perry, maybe?

Ungrateful Texans. Prayers are answered, so they're done? Where's the payoff for Chaac?

2006-09-14 10:40:39 PM
The joke's on Lubbock: Rain is just Chaac peeing on you anyway.

2006-09-14 10:49:13 PM
Next time you pray for rain, be sure to specify how much. And when.

2006-09-14 10:59:50 PM
Wait! Wait! wouldn't this have actually been a good time to use the Ironic tag?

2006-09-14 11:00:34 PM
ONLY 13 wrecks? That's got to be a lie.

It rained nicely for four days. It wasn't a heavy rain. It was just a nice rain. They got about 4 inches. They're still behind in the yearly quota.

The reason there was flooding is because their are NO street drains in Lubbock. Therefore, when in rains, no matter what amount, it floods. Flooding in Lubbock is no big deal.

And 13 wrecks must be a minimum record. Hell, there are probably that many per day....

The Lubbock Police Department responded to 13 wrecks just before noon.

Texas Tech! Go red Raiders! Great School...crappy town!

Graduated from there 10 years ago, went back for the first time two weeks ago to See the Red Radiers home opener against SMU. Lubbock still sucks! But the game was great!

/It rained the whole time I was there

Thanks, that makes much more sense.

/Didn't RTFA, since my parents live there and I already knew all about it.

Just FYI, I live in Lubbock and the vast majority of people here don't think God had anything to do with the rain... and we're vastly amused by the few who do.

2006-09-14 11:36:24 PM
Where's the payoff for Chaac?

Chaac gets to live.
