They'll be about as able to contain their contempt as Democrats are with Christians. At least, if Fark is any indication.

Free Republic is very, very disturbing. Whenever someone links there, I always read their responses. It's a circus of hatred, bigotry, persecution, and insanity.

I've been reading on hate communities, and it's freaking insane.

I wonder if they realize how alike they are to the Muslim extremists they hate? Well, of course they don't.

Any person that can only thrive in a community that eats, drinks, and breathes hatred is scary. These are people that literally live on hatred. How is such a thing possible?

Exactly...we Jews are like simple children who need a good white Christian conservative government in power otherwise we'd be putting knives into electrical outlets and licking flagpoles in January and unwittingly allowing muslim terrorists into our homes for motzah baked with christian baby blood Friday night dinner.

(and yet this type of rhetoric fails to draw more Jews to the GOP fold? shocking, eh?)

Yeah, I guess that would be disturbing... if it were true. But anyone who puts their trust in a cult started by a lunatic who made himself King, said it was OK to kill, steal and rape anyone who disagreed, said he was the only legitimate mouthpiece for God and farked 9 year old girls is completely unfit to hold public office. Unbelievable.

For whatever reason - and in my mind a small part of it is America's inclination to root for the underdog against all odds (see Gary Cooper in High Noon, Rocky, et al) - support for Israel is NOT a Democrat or Republican issue.

That said, Bush is perhaps the best American President that Israel has ever had.

We have been so entirely brainwashed by some people as to not even been able to recognize a real threat when it is in our face...

Why do we fear to speak the truth? Lets talk about 'average' Islam, not Al qaeda...

Out of 50 Muslim countries One democracy... you think the wives have the right to say 'not tonight honey, I've got a headache.' They are lied to from the earliest ages that everything that is wrong in their world is the fault of the Joos or The Great Satan... a recent polled showed 40% of Muslims in Britain wanted to live under Sharia Law... the list goes on and on.

Wake Up

You do not want these people in your government... no farking way. You got a probelm with Mormons or with Pat Robertson? These guys are Far, Far worse than our Christian fundies.

Theologically, I'm guessing that many Jews feel the same way about Christians as many Christians do to Muslims.

In other words... sort of as a misguided joke.

Why would they want to side with a bunch of people who wear this misguided joke on their sleeves?

I'm sure that if you polled the Branch Davidians you'd find a pretty similar figure, and they weren't exactly "democratic." Well, I guess you can't poll them since they're been reduced to charcoal, but if you COULD, you'd see that they liked being submissive.

By "these guys," are you referring to any and all Muslims?

Pretty much. But WInston Churchill said it better than me:

"Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 (London: Longmans, Green | 1899

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism[72 virgins, I'm assuming] deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity.

The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."

ericjohnson0:

Churchill was raised on this:

"Planning a foreign trip? Wales might be nice. But unfortunately it is filled with Welsh people, who are ''not very clean.'' Spain might look alluring, but the Spanish tend to be ''cruel, and sullen and revengeful.'' Portugal perhaps? Tread cautiously. ''Some places look pretty at a distance which look very ugly when you come up to them -- Lisbon is one of these places.''

There is almost no incentive to step out the front door in the strange, cruel, wildly prejudiced guidebooks of Mrs. Favell Lee Mortimer, a tough-minded Victorian children's writer whose astonishing thoughts on foreign lands have been excerpted by Todd Pruzan in ''The Clumsiest People in Europe.'' Spanning the globe, Mrs. Mortimer, in three volumes published between 1849 and 1854, delivered crisp, no-nonsense opinions on peoples and countries from Sweden to Bechuanaland, even though her own foreign travel, at that point, was limited to a brief childhood trip to Brussels and Paris. Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Niger, Senegal or Yemen?

Bah, those really aren't democracies, except for Senegal (see above correction to my post) or Lebanon (not overwhelmingly Muslim).

The countries I list are countries where there are multiple parties that compete in regular elections where votes are tallied fairly and the winner steps down when s/he loses. Algeria, Morocco, Niger, and Yemen all fail in one way or another.

And ericjohnson0 you never responded to my questions, so I shall repeat them:

Which religions are or should be, in your opinion, acceptable for citizens who desire to hold public office? Is there some sort of sliding scale whereby the list grows more restrictive with each higher office? Does past membership in an unapproved religion disqualify a citizen for public office forever, for a period of time, etc... and is there some sort of test or process we should implement to make sure the citizen is not merely passing as a member of an approved religion? Who administers this test? Are athiests permitted to run for office? And how do you square your opinion with the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause found in the First Amendment of the US Constitution?

First your list is useless because we're talking about real, functioning democracies. Hey, they even hold elections in Iran.

Second:
