YES!!!!! If at all possible, I and another TFarker (my boss, actually) should be there. SWEET.

2006-09-11 02:27:02 PM
Thursday?

2006-09-11 02:48:03 PM
thursday was chosen as they are more able to absorb a possibly large group on a thursday than a friday...

as always, if any have specific questions, I can be reached off thread at dinnardin1[nospam-﹫-backwards]nozirev*net.

I still am working on a head count, so keep letting me know

Thursday is better. Granted there is that whole issue with having to work the next day, but in terms of the party itself, Thursday will be a slower business day for the pub, meaning less overcrowding and better, faster service.

I'll be there. Stag, alas...

2006-09-11 04:08:59 PM
Figures there is one after I move from Pittsburgh.

2006-09-11 04:09:24 PM
Ooooh. I'd love to get to this. Haven't been to 'da Burgh in awhile. Do liters get paddled when they show up at these shindigs?

Hope to see y'inz there.

2006-09-11 04:10:25 PM
Damn! I fly into Pittsburgh the very next day. Sigh...

2006-09-11 04:14:12 PM
Penn Brewery actually has a menu item called "Pretzels 'n 'at", if I recall correctly. Definitely the sweetest microbrewery in the burgh.

2006-09-11 04:16:16 PM
I'll try to be there

2006-09-11 04:17:25 PM
90% sure that I'm in. All depends on what my Friday shapes up to look like. A non-posting Farker friend will also be coming.

2006-09-11 04:18:07 PM
I'm flying into Pittsburgh for work on the 26th. Anyone know how far the party is from the airport Hyatt?? Would love to go, but have never been to Pittsburgh and I don't know my way around. Any ideas locals??

2006-09-11 04:20:49 PM
BronwynLewis Oh, you poor bastard. 1st time in da burgh, and trying to get from the airport to North Side...I'll leave it up to someone far better at directions than I.

"Outside if the weather is good, otherwise in the bar..."

In other words, "in the bar."

2006-09-11 04:40:30 PM
Ha! I'll be at Parent/Teacher conference at a school by there. Might need a beer after that nightmare!

2006-09-11 04:43:36 PM
I'll be there and I can probably talk 2eggheads into going and maybe one other person.

2006-09-11 04:45:01 PM
If it wasn't for the fact that I work that night I would be there in a heartbeat.

2006-09-11 04:53:02 PM
Jeez, CThantos which bar were YOU thinking of?

2006-09-11 04:53:06 PM
submitter: good wurst, beer'n'at

Better pray it's outside. The flatulence could be dangerous if contained indoors.

2006-09-11 04:57:36 PM
so i'm assuming it's 21+

um..so..20 miles from the airport (anyone speak kilometers?- dear god thats a lame question, don't answer that.) so 20 miles in some direction from the airport...hmm. Hopefully i'll get there. Is it closer or farther away from Bridgeville (where work is)??? Any help would be awesome!! I'd love to be there!!

2006-09-11 05:05:34 PM

brown,

from bridgeville, get on 79 north

take the parkway exit (279? 376?, can't remember) towards
downtown (dahntahn)

it'll dump you off onto liberty ave right near the point

you can cruise all the way down liberty. past downtown (dahntahn), almost entirely past the strip district. 40 maybe 50 blocks. i THINK the brewery (brew'ry) is on the left.

others may be able to give better direction

2006-09-11 05:11:56 PM
take the parkway from the airport toward town... about (say it with me...) 20 miles. and then follow these directions from the penn brewery site, which you could have looked up yourself and mapquested or whatever. SHEESH!

FROM THE WEST: I-279 North (The Parkway) through the Ft. Pitt Tunnels and Ft. Pitt Bridge following I-279 North. (Stay in the left lane on the Ft. Pitt Bridge and in the right lane on the second bridge, the Ft. Duquesne Bridge.) As soon as you pass PNC Park take exit 7C (Chestnut St.) onto Route 28 for about 100 yards, then exit to the right for Chestnut Street. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left on to Chestnut. At the second light, turn right on to Troy Hill Road.

As confusing as this may be at the end of it, at least it's a straight shot all the way from the airport to the tunnel. Consider yourself lucky. Pittsburgh is a god-awful biatch to get around in if you weren't born there.

Ohio... shiat; I'm still only in Ohio... Every time I think I'm gonna wake up back in Pittsburgh. When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the rivers. I'm here a week now... waiting for a Yuengling... getting softer; every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute townies squat in the bush, they gets stronger. Each time I looked around, the walls moved in a little tighter.

looks like we are going to have a big group....should be lots of fun....

now.....maybe, just maybe....Drew will notice...and make a long overdue Pittsburghly run?

2006-09-11 05:31:17 PM
GroovyKodiak....the place does not limit to the over 21 crowd, so I do not see a real problem, all I ask is that you be utterly and completely honest with the servers about your age, so we don't have trouble....

or have a really good fake ID
