five furry friends into a magical patchwork world where they share stories with each other against a peaceful, idyllic backdrop.

Been done to death. I want to see five formerly furry (all gone due to radiation) friends struggling to survive in a post-apocolyptic anarchistic world.

Is it just me, or do those stuffed animals in the pic look like the puppets from Greg the Bunny?

I have a 6 and a 2 year old. I have been to see the Wiggles twice, and my wife has been three times. We are likley going again in November. I can, and do, for the girls of course, sing all of the songs. And they stay with me for days afterwards.

I knew that there would be many sacrifices to make with having kids. I just didn't know I would be singing along with Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword the Friendly Pirate.

Is that what the Wiggles is?

Ticketmaster must be on crack. I have, in the past two years, bought three things from them:

Tickets to GWAR, Danzig, and ECW. And yet, every time "The Wiggles" are in the NY area, I get an e-mail that says "Don't miss The Wiggles!" How the hell did they string that into my interests??

I can stand the Wiggles. My sister said they made some Ozzy references at the show she went to with her daughters.

The Doodlebops, however....that's some crazy, funked up stuff there.

It won't annoy parents if the parents don't introduce their kids to it.

Oh God, I hate that fruit salad song. I was stuck indoors in this shack in Asia and the only VHS tape we had in the whole house was of the Wiggles (for my little cousin). I must have listened to that fruit salad song a hundred times before I eventually just didn't venture into the room with the TV.

It could be worse. My dad was a music teacher in public schools for over 40 years. He spent at least 20 of them in primary school. At 79 he is losing his memory, but still knows all the nursery rhymes, Don Gato, etc. and can also play them on both piano and guitar.

I don't have kids yet, but I have got him to get himself singing on wv files so that I have it when they do come along. I hope he's still around though.

Dad was the best on a car trip - 5 hours plus and we would never sing the same song twice. The sacrifices of parents.

I watch my wife's best friend's little boy sometimes. The wiggles keeps him calm, so we watch it a lot. My favorite is the "do the tiger" song, and "fruit salad". I despise pretty much every thing he watches, but the wiggles are ok when no one else is around to see me watchin it. :P

I love the fact that they arent made of obsessively bright colors. They are sweet and muted and i like that. Im going to go cuddle with my stuffed bunny right now and assure him that he has no competition.

The Doodlebops came and performed at Disney-MGM Studios two weeks ago, and parents were getting in fist fights over tickets. The Wiggles are here now.... I'm so glad I'm at school and not working there....

Bring back The Letter People! Sure it kinda hit you over the head with the educational stuff, but it was more fun and less painful to watch than what passes for children's programming these days.

Do we have to send another stingray out to defeat this programming from Australia? Get a clue morans: children's programming should be pushing product. Oh and be really flashy as to enduce seizures.

Why do parent's let their kids watch this crap? I understand not wanting to actually parent your kids, but I swear crap like the Wiggles will lead to the Apocalypse!

If I had another kid the first thing I'd do it get rid of the TV!

2006-09-09 05:07:51 PM
On the upside, when my kids were small and I didn't have time to exercise and taking a walk meant going round the block once (while stoping to look at every bug and blade of grass along the way, before needing a "potty" trip), I would just do whatever the Wiggles were doing. My kids would dance along and I actually felt like I'd gotten some kind of a work-out.... On the other hand, Captain Feathersword is kinda creepy.

You choose what you let your kids watch on tv, or whether they watch at all. For my kids, four grown men dancing and singing was better than a lot of the alternatives. And they only got tv a few hours a week, so they truly enjoyed whatever we let them watch.

In terms of brain research, a lot of these kids shows are better than what they watch later on (or what I watch, for that matter). The camera angles that only last 3 seconds do a tremendous disservice to us in terms of attention span and critical thinking abilities. Of course, I'm from the MTV generation, so it's nothing exactly new....

The Tweenies used to do "gigs" (I use the term loosely) at the SECC where my mate was a waiter, apparently at the end of every show they used to get hammered and reminisce about the days when they were real actors. Totally soul destroying, apparently.

Ok that made me laugh lots. Nonetheless, I think that penguin is pretty darn cute :D

Am I the only one who wishes the Teletubbies really turned into explicit homosexuals, just to get Christian fundies riled up? It would be a big improvement on the show, too. (Or maybe it would be unbearable, but Fallwell's reaction would sure be priceless.)

2006-09-09 05:47:38 PM
As a Christian, I never thought the stupid Teletubbies were homosexual... I'm so not a fundy... as a matter of fact, I am frowned upon in this small freaking town. I have a bad potty mouth and I haven't been to church all summer... yikes I'm going to hell...

Anyway, talking about parents being insane... damn, I went to the website and about had a seizure from all the freaking gifs and ads and blah blah...

I hate advertising on the net... bastards.

/let us pray

Seriously, furries are freaks.

I find that most kids programming is very very stupid. About the only stuff I can stand is Pythagoras switch from Japan, it has some dumb parts, but it does have some pretty cool stuff they build for between parts of the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNyxcrVjWco is half of an episode if you want to see what I'm babbling about

2006-09-09 06:15:48 PM
My kids like Hi-5. I don't mind though because the show has some sexy babes.

I've trained my 4-year-old daughter well. Whenever she sees the Doodlebops on TV, she screams "AAAAH! Not the Doodlebops!" and runs to turn the TV off.

Good girl.

Alright, I've got a TotalFark tag, but can't access TF. If there's one thing TFers beat into me, it's Farkback.
