I am so damn sick of this.

This country deserves everything it is going to get. Unfortunately our children and grand children will pay for it.

From http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/LPReligibility.htm and the related links.

Oh, and do go and look at the actual laws themselves (they are all cited), for example, one of the requirements of skilled/unskilled laborers are the clause "for which qualified workers are not available in the United States", which is a pretty high standard to need to meet.

Yah, that would be a bit of a stretch. I checked out the laws. Now my farkin head hurts. :D

The requirements are, for the most part, the same across the board. There are a few countries that are given preference, & the whole lottery thing, which I would guess the Mexicans would actually be allowed to participate in if there weren't so many of them sneaking over.

'Tis why I refuse to bring a child into this world. My genes aren't that great anyway... average apparently isn't enough these days. You have to be born rich, disabled or in another country to have a chance at equality around here.

All those in favor of more Liberal leadership, once Bush gets done screwing up foreign policy, raise your stumps! It's all equally bad and I don't plan to live long enough to collect Social Security anyway.

They're actually denied because of how many Mexicans enter by marriage or because a family member married a citizen. So, in one sense, Mexico does have the highest legal immigration rate to the US, but not all Mexicans have the same chances; I'm sure many Mexican women are willing to marry someone they don't even like just to get their family into the country, but that's a pretty big sacrifice for people to make, and not one that everyone even has the option to do.

Once a certain number of people per year are entering from a given country because of things like marriage, relatives, or exceptional abilities, the entire country is kicked out of the green card lottery.

one of the requirements of skilled/unskilled laborers are the clause "for which qualified workers are not available in the United States", which is a pretty high standard to need to meet.

You bring up an interesting loophole there for EB3. Consider this: an employer advertises particular job openings at half the normal pay. Lo and behold, no qualified workers appear to take the jobs. Now the employer can say "golly, there are no qualified workers here." The employer can then bring in cheap immigrant workers by the truckload.

That standard might not be so hard to meet

2006-09-08 12:28:04 AM
The insanity of the illegal immigration issue continues to astond me. We are talking about extending benefits to people that are breaking the law that law-abiding tax-paying Americans might not qualify for. I am all for educating people, but why should it be our responsibility to pay for Mexican, and other nationalities, young people to be educated?

I know it doesnt literally apply to EVERYone in California, but for God's sake..there sure are an ASSLOAD of retards there.....look at all the stupid-ass laws that Californians have passed in just the last 5 years...

2. How can you register for school w/out a valid SSN?

3. How can you get a loan to buy a car w/out a valid SSN?

4. How can you get social services w/out a valid SSN?

5. How come this farking country is being bled to death by a shiatload of people that dont even have a valid SSN applying for, and GETTING social services that are paid for, and intended for, the citizens of this country?

I didn't rob the bank, I made an "undocumented" withdrawal.

A crime is a crime, these people are FELONS, and we're supposed to reward them for that?

If we really want a whole bunch of Mexican immigrants here, that's fine with me, open up the damn visa system and let them do it LEGALLY. Fark the rest of them.

Silly idea. And no, it isn't "racist" to say this bill is farking stupid.

If you believe a bill like this should pass, you should f*cking pay for it. Just like the people who were gung-ho in support of invading Iraq.

Make it easier for people to become citizens... don't make it "okay" to break the law.

Only in California will people like youself sit by and watch as blatantly unconstitutional laws are written and passed...and you are stupid enough to actually SUPPORT said laws because they make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Bet you support the ban on firearms.
Bet you support giving illegals free healthcare when working citizens cannot afford the same coverage.

Thank you. We pay for health care for all children no matter legal or not. We pay for their K-12 schooling as well. Some of us, me included would like to help them to continue through college to make a better life for them and their families.

Californians are the most weak-willed motherfarkers in the country. I would call them 'faggy' but its an obvious insult to gay people to compare gays and Californians.

Dont like something in California? Pass a law to make it illegal...even if it is something that is none of your farking business like what color your neighbor's mailbox is.

ONLY in California will you find people actually SUPPORTING the giving of social services and federal loans to known illegal immigrants, who are FELONS by the way.

That's great. I hope your checkbook is nearby because my kids could use some college money and I may need some to take them to the doctor sometime. Just a few thousand will do for now. I'll let you know when I need more. Wow this is great. I might have had to pay for this stuff myself but now my personal benefactor, you, can just dole out the cash.

Once they're in college, they're no longer children. Additionally, the argument that they can't choose where they live also no longer applies. You can't continue to think of them as wee ones that should be coddled.

Do it on your own dime.

These illegal aliens live outside of our laws and our Constitution.

I don't even see how they can justify this constitutionally. I suppose going to law school provides some with an education but it sure doesn't guarantee any intelligence.

Farm workers contribute more to California than they take away. If you don't see this than that's too bad. You are welcome to come here and harvest artichokes/asparagus/peas/lettuce/mushrooms/chickens/cattle/pigs/cherries/peac hes/walnuts/almonds ect... all for the hope of having no hope for the future of your children. I think you just summed up the entire state of California in one sentence. That's the problem with people like him and the majority of ppl that live there. They want California to be a place with sidewalks paved with candy canes and gumdrops. The entire state is filled with immature fools living in a children's novel reality.

What they're too stupid to realize however is that every time a law is passed, a little more of their personal freedom is taken away.

I have a unique perspective in that this bill actually applies to me, as I'm a UCLA student AND an illegal immigrant.

1) My parents brought me here when I was 3 years old; I have no memory of the event. They failed to tell me the truth about my citizenship status until I was eighteen years old; until then, I assumed I was a citizen. (I'm twenty now.) I'm blonde, American as all hell, and I speak nothing but English.

2) I scored a 1510 (out of 1600) on my SATs, which included a perfect 800 on the Verbal SAT, and was the editor of my high school newspaper. I was accepted into UCLA with many scholarship offers (from private organizations, not the government) -- none of which I could accept without a Social Security Number.

3) Every immigration attorney I've met with explains only that I have no way of applying for any form of legal status. They also advise against simply trying to leave the country, because I have no savings (just like every other average American college kid eating ramen) and NO surviving relatives outside of the U.S., anywhere.

4) I can't even get a farking job at 7-11 without an ID.

Right now I'm attending UCLA every other quarter. During the time in between, I make money cleaning houses and copyediting the occasional college term paper. This does NOT pay for tuition or rent by any means. I have no other options.

What would anyone else here suggest?

2006-09-08 01:17:57 AM
Here's a good example of how people in California think:

In california, a man can go to work dressed as a woman, and be legally protected, even if his boss considers a man wearing a dress to be socially unacceptable in the work place. Then, said boss could be sued if a customer harasses the guy in the dress because it creates a hostile work environment for the freak in the dress.

mydogateit

I just like to fark with you inbred tards. You all are a good laugh....

The really sad part is that you actually think the other 49 states look at california as 'progressive' and a leader of future trends. In actuallity, people ARE pointing to California, but they're pointing and LAUGHING.

2006-09-08 01:18:25 AM
oh helllllllllllllll no. The california school system has been raped quite enough thank you. With the current guidelines in place its damn near impossible for an independent young student to get any funding, let alone having to compete against thousands who never paid a penny into the system.

I suggest that the NIS throws your parents in jail or deports then to whatever country they came from, and either allows you to apply for citizenship, or sends you packing along with your felons.

I'm glad you did well on the SAT. Thank you for using up some of the money intended to educate LEGAL residents.

Let me ask you this: Do you pay taxes?

You have my sincere and genuine condolences. It looks like you're intelligent, hard-working, a victim of unfortunate circumstances and totally screwed. But while the ability to get student loans would help temporarily, you apparently still could not make use of your education if you were to graduate.

Really, what would you do if you got student loans? You could finish your education and possibly go back to your country of origin that you do not know. Honestly, would you pay the loans back?

The most super-neato part of this is that if it passes, student loan interest rates are going to skyrocket, and I get to pay for that because I have such loans in California.

I know the rest of the country is laughing at us. I'd like to point out that I'm not from here, but I pay massive taxes on everything. Can anyone beat 8.25% sales tax?

I suggest you get out of the farking country. No one cares what your SAT scores are or if you have savings. Get the fark out.

A few years ago, several majors in the Cal State University system were impacted, meaning they weren't accepting anybody - try again next year. The two worst, despite the claims of shortages in these fields were teaching and nursing - both filled with illegal immigrants and the children of illegal immigrants (they got local and state $$$ - GRANTS primarily, not loans). We DO need more English as a Second Language teachers and nurses to staff the few remaining overcrowded emergency rooms, but this is just another part of the same problem.

Should U.S. citizens including Native Americans be denied an education to accommodate an illegal immigrant or their child instead? What if they're here illegally from Pakistan, Haiti or Saudi Arabia? Still good?
