There's a reason this state has its own tag on Fark.

Nobody was worried that she wouldn't win the primary. It's the election that is a sure-fire failure for the FL GOP. Because of that Stepford wife.

i'd say this is good news. its a step towards balancing the power of government.

i'm neither repub nor dem, but one party should never control the executive and legislative.

I haven't followed florida politics in like...forever. So, tell me, other than the 2000 election thing, why is she such a horrible person?

Pale_Green_Pants_With_Nobody_Inside_Them: I haven't followed florida politics in like...forever. So, tell me, other than the 2000 election thing, why is she such a horrible person?

She came out the other day and said she is against the separation of church and state. I think that pretty much makes her unworthy of being in the US Senate. The Senate is supposed to be the sane, respectable body. Let her run for the House. They're all a bunch of morons, so she'd fit right in there.

Was that a blanket statement, or is there some sort of context you're leaving out?

From that last link:

ORLANDO, Aug. 25 -- Rep. Katherine Harris (R-Fla.) said this week that God did not intend for the United States to be a "nation of secular laws" and that the separation of church and state is a "lie we have been told" to keep religious people out of politics.

"If you're not electing Christians, then in essence you are going to legislate sin," Harris told interviewers from the Florida Baptist Witness, the weekly journal of the Florida Baptist State Convention. She cited abortion and same-sex marriage as examples of that sin.

...

Harris told the journalists "we have to have the faithful in government" because that is God's will. Separating religion and politics is "so wrong because God is the one who chooses our rulers," she said.

Scary ass biatch, if you ask me. And, apparently, she thinks she is chosen by God to be a leader in the US. It seems that when people feel they are chosen by God to lead, they often end up causing a lot of death and suffering in the world. I mean, if you are chosen by God, why think about your actions critically? You're just doing as God has chosen, right?

MorrisBird: Somebody's a little pasted, but that's not the issue.

Look, all I want is for someone to actually put a reason behind their hatred. All too often, you come into political threads and you get ambiguous insults because the target wears a different label than you do. So far, the only one willing to enumerate his beafs is WorldCitizen . I'm jsut suggesting that you know your position...so few people do.

You misunderstand me sir. I'm sick and tired of the circle jerks that political threads have become. I want people to define themselves...to state who they are and why they are so. Believe me, it's for your own good. And to dismiss it as trolling is missing the point.

PGP--Looks like some people answered your question.

She's the same kind of politician that spews out crazy sh*t and then has the nerve to call everybody who challenges it 'out of touch with the mainstream.' And then asks why they hate America.

I really love that perjorative (shrew). Seriously, it should be used more often. It's much more meaningful than biatch or hag.

I couldn't agree with you more, but your Boobies I haven't followed florida politics in like...forever. was setting the trap. Those of us who know you, know that you would never make a statement like that. Now, your posts after that were, as you put it, challenging. But remember, some of us know you and your debating skills, thus we snicker when somebody actually believes a line like that.

Now we can get into serious debate. After RTFA, I had to think for a minute, why A. She's still in this and B. She's succeeding. Granted, we're not in November and her odds of beating Nelson are astronomical, but who would have thought she would have gotten this far? Something just seems a little odd about the whole thing.

superdolfan1: I haven't followed florida politics in like...forever. was setting the trap.

It wasn't intended to be a trap. I just wanted people to play from a clean field. To say what they mean, and not some sort of bias BS. If it came across as a trap, then I need to reconsider my approach.

Because politics in America have become about what label you're wearing. It's some completely sad. I foresee real bad things in store for us. Hopefully, we'll be able to pull up in time.

The fact that people actually vote for her is everything that sucks about American politics.
