As a Met fan, I salute you Kansas City.

As a Kansas Citian, I'm glad Chiefs season is starting soon.

I did notice this morning that KC had been mathematically eliminated from AL Central contention. Thank heaven they're still alive for the wild card.

As a Kansas Citian, I miss the Blades.
2006-08-24 10:01:27 AM
As a former Kansas Citian, I'm not suprised. The Royals should send players into the stands while at bat to bring the ball there with their magnificant sucking power.

/George Brett, why hast thou forsaken us??

Big deal. The Rangers can lose like that without batting an eye. Or a ball.

Wait a minute. The fabric of our lives, our very existence, has been ripped apart. There are only 8 planets. No pizzas in the pneumonic anymore. All of our textbooks are suddenly not true. All of this and a Royals game story gets greenlighted. A ROYALS STORY!!!!

As a spelling fan, I resent the submitter's spelling of Cleveland.

As a Pluto fan, I still have to ask darman how Pluto's team is doing in the AL. Huh? Got nothing?? That's what I thought.

I stand proud as a Kansas Citian and a Royals fan. I just sit at home and cry in corner every night.

Don't worry. At least you've still got giant shuttlecocks to be proud of.
2006-08-24 10:15:58 AM
The Royals don't have enough games left to get to the "bad as '62 Mets category. But they'll probably reach the 100 loss category again. Sigh. I suffer.

Ever wonder what would happen if Wal-Mart owned a baseball team? Now you know.

Just one word.

2006-08-24 10:46:05 AM
If MLB was like EPL, the Royals would be sent down to AAA ball next year. Come to think of, that might not be a bad thing.
2006-08-24 10:50:19 AM
Sounds like par for the course for our boys in blue.
2006-08-24 10:50:32 AM
Thank god I get to look forward to the Chiefs choking every year.

I was supposed to go to this game, glad I didn't. I'm sure I'm not the only one that will be glad when this nightmare of a season is over.

Go Chiefs.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the worst team in baseball. Take a bow Royals.
2006-08-24 11:38:00 AM
What about my Tigers? They suck, too! They lost 119 games just 3 years ago!

What? They have the best record in baseball this year? Really?

Ahem. Carry on.

Weren't they relegated to AAA years ago? It happened in the 60's when they started feeding players to the NYY.

They're out in the first round of the playoffs, and you know it.

I remember watching that game (nothing better to do so I didn't turn it off). It was an absolutely amazing night. God, I miss those Tribe teams. The Tribe is young, so there is still hope for next year ... ack, starting to sound like a (insert bad teams here) fan.
2006-08-24 12:30:32 PM
I have four tickets to tonight's game and I can't give them away.

BTW, the Pirates are the worst team in MLB. The Royals play in a tough division.

I'll take 'em.

They DID sweep the Red Sox...

2006-08-24 01:20:22 PM
I attended this pitchers duel Roger Clemens vs. Tommy John that was similar to the Royals game. The Sox led 9-0 after 2, the Yankees scored 11 in the bottom of the 3rd, then the Sox came back to tie it at 11-11 in the top of the 4th. The score remained tied until the bottom of the 10th when the Yankees scored to win.

So did the national team for the blind.

Ah well, just as long as they don't put the blind kids against the Bruins...

Oakland did pretty much the same thing to KC earlier this week. Down 8-0, came back to win it 12-10. Go A's!
2006-08-24 01:32:29 PM
oops, that was Toronto that Oakland spanked on Monday. sorry KC fans. it was Saturday & Sunday that we beat you. go A's!

C-Nut:If MLB was like EPL, the Royals would be sent down to AAA ball next year. Come to think of, that might not be a bad thing.

I know people love to bag on the Royals. Yeah, my team sucks. They probably wouldn't fare too much better against AAA teams than they do in the majors. But it's not like I can do much about it, not like I can run David Glass out of town, or force the leage to adopt a salary cap or profit sharing. And I'm damn sure not going to root for another team (fair weather fans are the worst)

So yeah go ahead and make fun of them but they are still my team. I know they suck. Doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the sport.
