Obviously because of the success of Dodge's PT Cruiser.

My dad had a 1929 Model A in our garage over 25 years ago.
I used to sneak girls in the garage and make out with them in the car. That is where I snaked my first French kiss.

I can't wait to see them re-introduce the Edsel, then be mystified why it flops. Or how about the Pinto?

2002-07-01 01:45:06 PM
pictures?

it isnt like they are going to sell them.. read the farking article

What about the ever popular late 70's Pin-Tang?

2002-07-01 01:46:36 PM
I pitty the fool who drives one.

2002-07-01 01:47:24 PM
Another empty article. The headline said it all. Where's the picture? Where's the story about what motor it has, and if it has all theose federally required doo-jiggers like seatbelts, airbags and stuff?

One sweet ride.

2002-07-01 01:48:11 PM
Hmmm...intro price was $825 = $10,000 today

How many other companies are selling cars for $10K?

2002-07-01 01:48:37 PM
This is taking the retor thing a bit far. What's next? Will Chevrolet start selling a buckboard?

2002-07-01 01:48:57 PM
Where is a good picture of Mr. Burnes in his old azz car when you need one?

Model T

Image too large for thread.

2002-07-01 01:54:16 PM
What a rip. The idea of actually buying a "modernized" Model T is a pretty cool one. The popularity of the PT Cruiser proves that retro cars would certainly do well - there are three of the damn things on my block alone. Too bad these are just going to be glorified, rolling ads.

Best Ford ever:

2002-07-01 01:57:53 PM
Johndx: Cool! Thanks. Up here in Cleveland, there's the Crawford Auto Museum. I'll tell you what, there are some amazing vehicles up there. They couldn't get much horsepower out of engines long ago (not like today, anyway) so someof those beasts had engines that were around 800 C.I. Imagine a 650ci six cylinder? Cool place.

2002-07-01 01:58:19 PM
But with an industry average of 120+ problems per 100 cars, none of these 6 cars will work.

2002-07-01 01:58:58 PM
Here in Las Vegas, Model Ts are a pretty common sight because of all the car collectors in town.

Maybe they're about as streamlined as a crackerbox, but they do have a certain charm about them.

And low tech does not mean bad tech.

2002-07-01 02:02:07 PM
Can't they just start re-selling Knight Rider cars and A-Team vans?

2002-07-01 02:03:09 PM
I cannot understand why people spend $20k on PT Losers and VW Beetles.

Junk.

2002-07-01 02:05:07 PM
Detroit out of ideas, Ford to make Model T again.

THAT would have been a Fark headline.

2002-07-01 02:07:15 PM
"I cannot understand why people spend $20k on PT Losers and VW Beetles."

While I can't speak for the new beetle (which I understand, anecdotally, is an okay car if you just want something cute and moderatley reliable), I'd be really worried to buy a car based on the Neon like the PT. My fiance had a Neon once. She traded it in after her fifth recall notice.

They need to bring back the Deuce coupe!

2002-07-01 02:11:14 PM
Ford has pics of the new Model T on their website and cool flash presentation on the 100th anniversary. Check it out by clicking HERE! Flash Player Required.

The New Beetle is based upon the VW Golf, which is a pretty good car. I eagree with the sentiments about the PT Cruiser, although the new Neon SRT-4 is the fastest thing for your dollar, stock.

2002-07-01 02:12:07 PM
I want a Canyonero! And no, not the F-Series...

"It blinds everybody with it's super high beams..."

2002-07-01 02:17:44 PM
I would totally buy a new pinto if they came out.

how cool would that be?

2002-07-01 02:18:09 PM
23 Skidoo!!!!

2002-07-01 02:18:58 PM
I like how they say $825 would be $10k today, but fail to mention that after a few years production of the T was so streamlined that the price actually dropped.

2002-07-01 02:20:55 PM
So, am I the only person slightly amused by the fact that two of Ford's early production cars were the Model T and the Model A?

T & A?

2002-07-01 02:21:02 PM
It's pretty cool that they built brand new antique cars. Make mine a '63 Dart.
Also, anyone heard anything about the BMW made new CooperMini, i.e. good/bad? At first I thought it was great, and I like the styling, but for a teeny car, it's bit pricey at approx. $20+k

2002-07-01 02:21:44 PM
The VW Golf is a great, reliable, low-maintenance, low-cost, long-lasting car for men who aren't afraid that other drivers think they have small winkies.

The New Beetle is the girly version, for confident men with comically enormous cocks.

Hey Jph, I read somewhere a few months ago that
Ford was working on a production version of the
GT40. I agree it was probably Fords hottest car.

MajorMajor: heh heh heh, they shoot horses, don't they?

Volkswagons are typically driven by yuppies, trendy doers. Reliable? I don't think so...

2002-07-01 02:38:26 PM
I had a Model T that was recalled due to the spokes in the wheels blowing out...

would this car have to meet current emissions and safety standards?

how bout a fuel injected T with ABS, and airbags?

Kurst_Putz:

I actually wrote most of the placards and information cards you see in front of the cards at Crawford. My buddy and I did them for our Senior Project back in 1988. I'm the MNH you see at the bottom of some, he's WTB. It was extremely cool to be able to go behind the scenes at the museum--you should see the stuff they don't display--like a piece of the Hindenburg!

I'm working on restoring a '41 Buick right now. Runs and acts just like a modern car. Cruises at 80 mph, has adequate brakes and suspension. Not all old cars are jalopies and Model Ts. Check it out at:
