I have tried to come by statistics on in-room adult entertainment, but I too, found it hard...

/or not hard as the case may be

I gotta get off to something. If you take away my spank box, I'm going to punch a hole in your Bible with my pecker.

Not enough, apparently ;)

The only thing more mainstrem than porn is breathing.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!

must have spanker vision, hell my company lets me claim it on my per diem.

they can cancel that fake crap with no money shots though, that stuff is just wrong.

The coalition also is trying to draw attention to CleanHotels.com, a directory of hotels and motels nationwide that pledge to exclude adult offerings from their in-room entertainment service.

So, if I don't use a hotel listen on CleanHotels.com, do I run the risk that they'll force me to watch porn? Or is the service, like, optional?

HAL_lives: must have spanker vision, hell my company lets me claim it on my per diem.

Most hotels won't get rid of it. Travelling businessmen make up more of their clientelle than wacko fundies. It would be like a city that wants to attract conventions getting rid of the hookers.

Just took a look at the CleanHotels.com site, and there is only one Hotel in NYC that made there list.

Interesting....

Once, when I worked for Marriott, a guest complained to me about the in-room porn because her children "accidently" turned it on. She couldn't believe that Marriott, being a mormon company, would have porn in the rooms.

I told her that as a publicly traded company it is owned by the stock holders not the mormom Marriott family. Kind of shut her up.

Last I checked, On Command had a deal for $19.95 for 24 hours of porn.

I finally got the site to load. I'm against their "mission" but it's a pretty interesting idea they have here.

Hotels with no porn are added to their database by either the hotel or their fundie guests. When a someone checks dates for availability it uses a GDS (Global Distribution System - think Sabre, Apollo, etc.) for a booking engine but will screen out hotels that don't appear in both their database and the GDS listing for the area/dates the user selected.

The site is, in effect, a travel agent and will invoice the hotels booked for their 10% percent commission.

There's a whole slew of hotels around here that don't have the in-room porn. Of course, you don't really need porn when you and your lady friend you only have it for the hour.

Years ago an investment banker who had worked on an offering for SpectraVision told me that their stats showed that early mornings were the prime selling time for their porn channels.

I can believe that.

I would believe it, but I would still think night sessions would do pretty good as well.

Shouldn't that have read: "precise stats on in-room porn are hard to cum by" ?

Worst motel i've ever found for sleaziness is the Dayton Motor motel in Dayton Ohio.. I've always wanted to stay there for one night, just to say I've been there.. but oh well.. They offer waterbeds, in-room adult movies, and wall to wall prostitoads..

2006-08-22 06:07:21 PM
Yes, the soft core versions they show in hotels are very hard to come by.

I have a friend that does the "editing" for the hotel porn to take out the weiners penetratin' the vags and the oral insertion stuff. Tough job, but somebody has to do it.

I guess these groups are just trying to protect the christian sinners from suckumming to temptation when they are traveling and doing the Lord's work.

I had a job interview with the Branson hotel owner who was trying to get this thing off the ground. I went into the interview blind, and I remember he explained what they were trying to do short-term (a whitelist for families seeking hotel rooms without porn -- good) and long-term (a blacklist to pressure other hotels to not offer porn -- not so good), and he laughed and said "so if you like pornography, this probably isn't the job for you."

He was right. Awwwwwkwarrrrd! And judging by the fact that the site has asploded after a little Fark tickle, non-horny geeks are hard to come by (tee hee) in Branson.

Time article 'bout 'em

why do people hate porn? we all watch it....dont lie, you do.

By some estimates, adult movies are available in roughly 40 percent of the nation's hotels, representing more than 1.5 million rooms.

I find that hard to believe: I can't remember a hotel room I stayed in the last five years in North America, Europe, or Japan that didn't offer them.

2006-08-22 06:15:48 PM
Conservative christians attending local religious events account for the bulk of pay-per-view porn service use. That's the funniest thing about all of this.

Staff from hotels around world are concerned that their customers aren't viewing enough pr0n. So as part of their compaign to promote pr0n, they switch on the TVs in the room to the pr0no channels while you sleep, in hope that you may wake up to a pleasant surprise and to a greater awareness of the viewing posibilities available to holidays makers.

People that sensitive shouldn't be staying at hotels. Just think of all the shiat that's been done on your bed before you get to sleep there!

Anyway, slightly off topic but why is there a Bible in every hotel room? How and why did that get started?

2006-08-22 06:23:11 PM
This is old news. Ten years ago on a 5th grade field trip, the hotel had porn available including a barely sfw preview. The room I was in was satisfied with the preview but another group of guys actually ordered one. They got quite a talking to when it showed on the room bill.

2006-08-22 06:23:25 PM
Okay, but here's the real question:

who the fark pays that kind of money for some crappy nekkid flick in their hotel room anyway?

Last time I saw the listings for a hotel's "adult" offerings, the cost was around $30 apiece!

I know room service and the minibar are overpriced too, but I can't help but feel sorry for, as well as envy, the person dropping that kind of cash for a 90 minute skinflick that they will only watch for about 6 minutes.

2006-08-22 06:23:49 PM
Just goo up them little drawer bibles.

and wacko fundie travelling businessmen use hotel spankovision more then anybody. Especially if there is gay porn, for umm... research

and long-term (a blacklist to pressure other hotels to not offer porn -- not so good)

Now why are christians picked on and "persecuted"? Hmmm....

Mugato: Anyway, slightly off topic but why is there a Bible in every hotel room? How and why did that get started?

Gideon bibles are distributed around the world, and most famously in hotel rooms. It's done by a Christian organization to promote their religion.

2006-08-22 06:24:48 PM
Personally, I find "The 700 Club" offensive. So guess what I do? I DON"T $%#$ING WATCH IT!!!! Why is this such a difficult thing for some people to do? If they want to keep a list of hotels not offering this service, that's all good. They have a right to be selective and informed. But as soon as they start trying to force their viewpoint on everyone else, they instantly become flaming asshats.

/Hotel porn sucks anyhow
//well, maybe sucks isn't the right word...

2006-08-22 06:25:04 PM
Wasn't there some sort of ultra religious convention somewhere and orders for hotel porn spiked up tremendously over that of ordinary conventions? Does anyone know where this happened?

2006-08-22 06:25:53 PM
These are obviously people who don't pay to watch the porn...so why are they trying to tell the people who do that they can't?

Fundamentalist Christians would be the American Taliban if the rest of us let them.

For the last couple of years, I take the bible in my hotel rooms to the front desk and ask them to keep it out of my room. Some of the looks are priceless

You can take away my porn when you pry it from my warm, sticky hands.

I recently went on a Carnival Cruise. The in room system had an option for adult movies, but there didn't have any availble. I was disappointed.

"I also know of a certain hotel manager who says upon booking a Christian convention in his hotel during 2005, his in-room porn orders increased dramatically."

I think there was a news article about it but I couldn't find it.

As for bibles in the rooms, they're left there by a private group trying to push their agenda. I'm always surprised that there aren't copies of Dianetics in hotel rooms too. The Scientologists have plenty of copies to do so. Afterall, buying them at Barnes & Noble every week to keep it in the NYT Bestsellers list must give them plenty stock to undertake such an endeavor.
