I'd like to introduce submitter to Humboldt State, Chico State, UC-Santa Cruz, Arizona State, Colorado, Washington State, Wisconsin, Florida State, LSU, Kansas, Missouri, Vermont, Indiana, Florida, Alabama, SUNY-Albany, Ohio U., Lehigh, UC-Santa Barbara, Ole Miss, Iowa, Lehigh, Penn State, Tulane, Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan State, Clemson, New Hampshire, San Diego State, Georgia, and a whole bunch of other places that, just like Texas, have students that smoke pot and do other fun stuff.

Results will be released tonight after 5pm CDT by the Princeton Review, so submitter can check it out then.

There's 50,000 students at UT. These schools might beat Texas in per capita smoking, but I'd bet in terms of sheer volume Texas is probably equal to all of them combined. Well, at least when Ricky was still here.

As much as hate getting into internet wang size competitions, you have no idea how much pot is smoked in the UT Austin experience. There is a permanent haze over everything from Ben White to 45th street.

It's socially accepted and widespread (ESPECIALLY at Santa Cruz and Humboldt). I can't imagine it's the same at Texas.

Once you cross the Travis County line, you are no longer in the what the rest of the world thinks of as Texas. UT is where all the liberal, lefty, hippy, alternative people go when they get out of high school from all the conservative towns. The profs are usually doing more drugs than the students. APD won't even write you a ticket if you get caught smoking at a concert or in the parks (most of the time). Yeah, a lot of it is ditch weed, but there are some serious home hydro growers and about a dozen local head shops that cater to them around here.

That's also what we excel at. We like our beer, our music, our women, our recreational pharma, and our Tex-Mex and BBQ. It's not a bad town, once you get used to the heat.

I love Austin, really really love it (sister's in law school there right now), but you're kidding yourself if you really think it's all that different than any other big university town. No, I'm not saying UT is different than most big college towns out on the coasts. What I'm saying is that it is like those colleges, but smack in the middle of the great big state full of bible-thumpers and zero-tolerance conservatives.

Lots and lots of it is grown here. With the exception of the dry summer of 1990, it never took me more than an hour to find quality stuff on campus.

Ha, UW Madison got ranked #1 this year for Books, Babes, and Beer by Playboy as the best place to live the playboy lifestyle. The UW Regents don't let the princeton review people rank them as a "party" school because it ignores their academics, I can't remember if they do it anyway, but I know they asked to be taken off the list. The Regents were pleased with the playboy ranking because it encompassed academics as well.
