2006-08-19 12:28:47 PM
Yeah, but it's Kinky Friedman's choice...

So it's pretty unlikely..

2006-08-19 12:34:57 PM

I think by now 75% of the population of Texas has had their picture taken with Kinky Friedman.

Oh, and why is this img.fark.com?

Willie did sing a song by Kinky. It's called "Ride Em' Jewboy"

2006-08-19 01:49:37 PM

"... reiterated his top pick to implement his energy plan that emphasizes renewable sources: Willie Nelson."

Putting Willie Nelson in charge of renewable sources is like puttin G Gordon Liddy in charge of Homeland Security.

I ,for one, welcome our new Energy Czar!

2006-08-19 01:53:39 PM
hey, skinink, he'll be a good figurehead that brings attention to the energy policy. he's done plenty getting biodiesel to Austin. of course, you probably know jack shiat about Texas, so feel free to pick another thread to post trite comparisons.

2006-08-19 02:07:55 PM
Yes! Let's Hook up turbines to the end of all bongs, bowls, and joints. No, wait...The War on Drugs has successfully prevented 99.9999% of would-be users from partaking marijuana. Never mind.

2006-08-19 02:08:13 PM
Getting politicians out of Texas politics will be the best thing Kinky does when he wins in November

2006-08-19 02:09:51 PM
It can safely be said that there will be no drug testing in order to get this job.

Listen, Bill O'Reilly, I paid for this microphone, er TotalFark account, so I'll post where I please. I pick this thread to piss in your Cheerios, since you seem to be wound up tighter than a Hemp rope.

And, no, I don't know anything about Texas, except that a Texas sympathiser named LamOtter has some anger issues.

2006-08-19 02:13:28 PM
I see nothing wrong with this logic

2006-08-19 02:23:56 PM
I say if Minnesota gets a pro-wrestler "actor" as governor and California gets the Terminator... we can have Willie as Energy Czar. Out of the three, that's the least of a head-scratcher, I say.

But on the downside, it reeks of what a lot of people hate about GWB: handing over important jobs to his friends.

Texas politics have been all farked up for some time, though. Maybe it's time for something completely different.

/hasn't decided who to vote for yet

2006-08-19 02:29:21 PM
I wish we had Kinky and Willie here in VA.

2006-08-19 02:35:24 PM
Kinky Friedman is actually going to help split up the republican vote during the general election.
Too bad Perry is going to win by a narrow margin. Church voter turnout will be heavy for him.

2006-08-19 02:41:16 PM
I thought he was busy with this campaign?

Texas could turn out to be a cool place after all!

skinink: And, no, I don't know anything about Texas,

Hey, as long as you're honest.

Kinky's unveiled his energy policy, and this alone will probably get my vote. Strayhorn hasn't said squat about the issue that I can tell, and while Perry has done an okay job of promoting alternative energy it's still not enough imo.

KINKY '06: WHY THE HELL NOT?

2006-08-19 03:08:17 PM
I don't claim to know much about politics but personally, I'm a Kinky man.

"... I really believe that musicians can better run this state than politicians."

Worth a shot.

Looks like a Governor to me.

2006-08-19 03:31:44 PM
Willie Nelson put together the biggest biodiesel effort in the nation. So he's at least got some administrative experience, a proven dedication to alternative energy, and you know he's not some crooked Enron bastard who managed to avoid scrutiny.

It's not like it's Willie for head of Parks & Rec or Willie for attorney general

/or department of revenue...

2006-08-19 03:41:09 PM
Don't mess with Willie

Kinky for President

2006-08-19 03:42:52 PM
At this point I almost want to move to Texas just to vote for this guy.

2006-08-19 03:43:12 PM
Perry is at limp right wrist of the Bush admin and besides we have him to thank for the Katrina invasion or murders, crooks and thieves. Houston will never be the same

2006-08-19 03:53:06 PM
He's not kinky, he's my govenor

2006-08-19 03:53:06 PM
Personally I'd take any job with 'Czar' in the title, just because.

2006-08-19 03:54:06 PM
the kinkster for prez....

though i wish he'd keep writing books

2006-08-19 03:55:22 PM
Kinky secured my vote when I heard his awsome song about Charles Whitman a few weeks ago.

It's big, it's mostly flat, the people are odd, and the northern bits get nasty tornadoes. That's all you really need to know. Oh, and major petrochemical companies own just about all of the Gulf Coast.

I read an article about him about a year ago. One of Kinky's campaign promises is to outlaw cat declawing in Texas.

I was like "huh?"

I'm all for cleaner fuels and stuff, but some of his stuff seems odd.

2006-08-19 04:10:11 PM
I hope Kinky wins. It would set everything upside down, beyond Texas too.
