Of course, she's going to be hit hardest, while the officers who let her escape will probably receive slaps on the wrists.

Liberty and justice for all, indeed.

I think Mobile is close enough to justify use of the Florida tag here. That place is just scary.

Haley: I don't know he said he looked at her, she looked at him, and she pointed to someone else and said that's my lawyer so he didn't stop her. I don't understand that."

Wow people still fall for that?

Sounds like a bright bunch and yes, I know this quote's from a resident.

Judge Rusty Johnston, who is in charge of the Court Police, says his investigation reveals the inmate was not wearing handcuffs, and it appeared that because she was in a brown uniform, she was a trustee.

When the female inmates are going to bj a guard, the other guards have to pretend they don't see her, otherwise they wouldn't be team players

Amen. Scary is an understatement. Damn shame too; the bay is quite pretty. But the people there are their own special breed of crazy/retarded.

I wonder just how many people on reading this read Mobile as "mo-bil", like a home. It's "Mo-beel". It's not a great place, but it does deserve proper pronunciation.

\lives there
\\very close to Florida
\\\I forgot what I was saying
\\\\Oh yeah. Pronunciation Nazi.
\\Who lives in the South. Fun times.

Unreal_one is right. Mobile's no paradise, but it isnt the cliched mobile home hicksville most people seem to think. Honestly Id take the people here over the wanna be sophicate asshats in atlanta anyday. That city just needs to be wiped off the map. (lived there for five years)

studebaker hoch: Proving once again that "acting like you own the place" works wonders.

That's true. Back in college we needed building materials to build stuff in our dorms. I put on my pair of work boots, jeans, hard hat (my summer jobs was construction) and we went to the construction project on campus.

I walked around and picked up the necessary building supplies, carried each piece boldly on my shoulder to my buddies out of sight from the worksite.

We got all we needed, no one asked any questions.

A quick search turned up the fact that the missing prisoner had called a specific phone number the morning of the escape. The phone record was examined, and the number belongs to.....

wait...wait...wait...

her boyfriend, the prison guard, who was on duty that day.
Which is why you won't read the results of the "investigation".

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Wow...so all it takes is to wear a prison uniform and handcuffs?

The ultimate in camoflage!

I can see it now...a high speed chase in your choice of big city, the cops PIT the car out, and the perp gets out of the car wearing a prison uniform and handcuffs already. The ciops then put their guns away and get back in their cars to leave.

"Didja arrest him?"

"Nah...he was already arrested."

This is Bama! Either she just didn't stand out or the guards thought she was making a fashion statement.

I once knew a guy who escaped from his court sentencing by asking to go to the bathroom, and then he shimmied out the window & jetted. Granted, it was just for probation so he was uncuffed and in street-clothes, but still.

/can't decide if he's an idiot or a wiley bandit
//but he's serving 3-5 yrs now anyways.... doh!

i grew up in Pensacola, about an hour's drive from Mobile. I lived there for 25 years before I ever went to the city, and I've still only been once (moved away about three years ago, though). Mobile has always been that place after the really long bridge, but before New Orleans. Just nothing there.

Yep, that sounds like something that would happen in Government Plaza.

/From Mobile.
//There are intelligent people there, but there is also a very high hick population. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Funny...I'm from Mobile and that's almost exactly how I've viewed Pensacola my whole life. Except it's the place before Destin, instead of NO.

Hooray for social engineering (aka act like you belong there). You know how easy it is to get into a sporting event for free? Show up 6 hours early and pretend you're with the TV crew. Depends on the sporting arena, though, some have better security than others.

Some RCMP cop ('s) left a prisoner alone with easy access to a back door and no cuffs on. So the main cop responsible got a stern lecture to appease the stupid public.

I'm still waiting for that day to come.
