I have just one question about those Bratz things.

How do they dress?

Their heads are huge! How could you pull that tight shirt down over that enormous head? And there's no way those feet go through those tight pants! They're almost as big as their heads! Do they have detachable heads and feet just so they can get dressed in the morning?

/boo big-headed friend!
//hooray beer!

"She is beautiful, no?" asked Jacques de John, CEO of Le Joi Du Toys, France's largest toy manufacturer.

You'd think that France's largest toy manufacturer would have a web site or perhaps be mentioned, even once, on the web.

WWN doesn't even try any more.

Actually I rather enjoyed the letter to the editor in the same issue about vampires.

CORRECTION ABOUT VAMPIRES

In recent weeks you have mentioned vampires on your Web site. After reading what you have to say on the subject, I have to conclude that you are either grossly misinformed or you are relying on an unreliable source. Vampires are not inherently evil, and they are not a necessarily a menace.

I researched vampires for many years, and have written that they are, in fact, the product of kabalistic magic. Using much the same formula that is used to create a golum (a creature of stone that is magically brought to life), a second spirit is infused in a living man. This second spirit gives the man superhuman powers, but also makes him particularly sensitive to light.

The first double-spirited men -- now known as vampires -- were created by kabalistic magicians during the inquisition as a means to fight the inquisitors. Although they had to act in secret, their fight was largely successful. The fact that vampires were originally created to fight a corrupted church also explains why vampires are so easily upset by the appearance of crosses.

The reason that vampires now have such a bad rep is that if the magic that binds their second spirit to them is not periodically renewed, their mind begins to age, even though their body remains young forever. This leads to a specific kind of madness, often expressed in unnatural desires (e.g. for blood). Fortunately, someone with experience in the particular kind of kabalistic magic needed to create a vampire can restore a vampire to sanity. If we could encourage this, vampires would once again be a force for good.

I've played with anatomically correct hooker dolls for years. what's the fuss about?

Of course..I didn't read all the above posts to check first, but am I the only one who thinks that picture actually is a person posing to merely look like a doll?

She's no barbie and she's really not all that cute with those chipmonk cheeks and what not. Also, soes she come with the distinct odor of the french too? lol

Just my opinion. =)

.... with Kung Fu Grip! (tm)

BTW:

Looking forward to the day there's a "GI Joe dates Barbie" video that takes into account that compared to Joe she's over 14 feet tall!

(Too early to do math. If Joe is 6' 3" and Barbie 5' 6" and the action figure/fasion doll are 5" and 12" respectively, how tall does Joe see Barbie and how short does Barbie see Joe?)

Also... Joe would have to have lots of self confidence. Or have additional skills. That and Ken's gay.

jordan_lund Somehow I don't think those qualify as "anatomically correct".

jayessell It's not that Ken's gay - it's that he's been wearing the same pair of underwear for decades and refuses to take them off. Ew!

The BRATZ dolls made me sad.

2006-08-13 11:02:26 AM
I hate the bratz dolls because they are the one toy I have banned from this house, and therefore have become the mysterious and tantalizing taboo. My 6 year old has become fixated with them in the store, and my relatives bring it up at every holiday and birthday "We wanted to get her a bratz doll. Are you letting her have them yet?"

If I knew then what I know now, I would have let her have one, and she would have gotten bored and over the damned thing. Who thought that marketing pouty whore dolls to little girls was a good thing? DIAF, bratz creators!

2006-08-13 11:02:52 AM
Not so early in the morning now.

From Joe's perspective:
2.4 times his height. 6'3" (75 inches) x 2.4 = 180 inches (15 feet)

From Barbie's perspective:
42% her height. 5'6" (66 inches) x 0.42 = 27.5 inches (2 feet 3.5 inches)

Yeah, I work as a cashier at Target and they depress the hell out of me. I guess their parents are trying to ensure that their daughters have a carrear in the future...as a hooker.

"Dressed in a tight black miniskirt, fishnet stockings, stiletto heels and a belly shirt, Collette also features excessive make-up and a comehither smile familiar -- we are told -- to those who frequent the sleazier sections of Paris."

Or like your daughter on her way to school after she's changed out of what you watched her put on before you went to work.

jayessell... you do realize you are comparing two different scales, right? a 1/6th scale Barbie versus a a 1/13th scale GI Joe...
why not compare to a 1/72nd scale HO figure, and Barbie can be 110 feet tall, or a 1/32 scale plastic army figure, and she can be 64 feet tall? And barbie can wear battleships on her feet like shoes, if they are 1/400th scale.

FTFA: our research indicates that they seem to sell in tandem with Star Wars action figures. We aren't sure what that is all about, though we suspect it has to do with the light sabers and where they can be applied.

Sorry, but unless it looks like the lightsaber Dave Chappelle was playing with on his version of Trading Spouses, I don't think you should be applying a lightsaber anywhere these French people are suggesting. Sicko pervs. ;-)

When the toy company realized they could sell GI Joe accessories like jeeps and tanks and helicopters, the 1/6th scale was changed to 1/15.

Those Bratz dolls have no noses. For some reason that's very disturbing.

BRATZ dolls are fun. Their tops velcro up the back so you needn't stretch them over their big pumpkin heads, and to change their shoes or pants, you yank their entire feet off!

fetishing Bratz dolls seems a lot like pedophilia... sure they're whorish and pouty-lipped, but in a distinctly "prepubescent girl trying to look more adult but basing that concept on britney spears/christina aguilera/yes I am too old to know who the whorish popstars are for this generation" way.
