This thread presents information based in part on theory and conjecture. The submitter's purpose is to suggest some possible explanations, but not necessarily the only ones to the mysteries we will examine.

Without any real investigation, I'd go with it being a wolf of some sort. But the article seems to say it's something living in the lake itself, and just popping out to gut dogs now and then.
In which case, given the local fauna of Manitoba, I'm stumped.

Hello. I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is: No.

"In Search Of" was THE most awesome show. As a kid it got me interested in these kinds of things, because it showed me that there was all kinds of weird shiat going on in the world that I knew nothing about.

Yeah, I think I saw that one too at the theater.

Kids today are jaded and wouldn't find that movie or "In Search Of..." the least bit spooky. But they have to remember back in the 70's we had no VHS, DVD, internet downloads or cable TV. We didn't have much access to spooky stuff. It was basically "In Search Of...", "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" and the Saturday night local station "Creature Features" hosted by somebody dressed up as Dracula. Good times, good times.

Kids today are jaded and wouldn't find that movie or "In Search Of..." the least bit spooky.

The ones that gave me nightmares were "Threads," "The Day After" and "V", but I suppose those were all in the 80's. The creature double-features on UHF were pretty cool in the 7os, but they didn't show much George Romero, it was more like bad japanese and american monster movies from the '50s.

That Elmendorf Creature looks exactly like a Peruvian Inca Orchid who had some sort of chromosomal defect or inbreeding; would also explain the live one reported nearby. PIOs are known for having terrible teeth, so a messed-up overbite like in the picture isn't too much of a stretch.
