This thread presents information based in part on theory and conjecture. The submitter's purpose is to suggest some possible explanations, but not necessarily the only ones to the mysteries we will examine.

Without any real investigation, I'd go with it being a wolf of some sort. But the article seems to say it's something living in the lake itself, and just popping out to gut dogs now and then.
In which case, given the local fauna of Manitoba, I'm stumped.

I like reading the article with a deep North Dakota accent.

/Any chance the mystery killer on Reindeer Lake is, I dunno, a reindeer?

If you live in Northen Manitoba, being gutted and killed is a better fate than living out one's full life.

/lives in Southern Manitoba and wishes we had some compassionate "mysterious creatures"

Well then Adman12, allow me to get the ball rolling. I suspect this is a concocted story to keep locals away from a massive outdoor grow-op. Plants should be gettin right tall about now.

Hello. I'm Leonard Nimoy. The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies. But they're entertaining lies. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is: No.

I can't imagine a childhood without those creepy "mysteries" to keep me up at night.

(I also saw "Mysterious Monsters" in the theatre in '76, at age six. Couldn't look out a window at night for months for fear of seeing bigfoot looking in.)

Sorry, Reverend :)

Mulder: There's been another unsubstantiated mysterious creature sighting in Canada. We've gotta get there right away.
Scully: Well... gee, Mulder, there's also this report of a shipment of drugs and illegal weapons coming into New Jersey tonight.
Mulder: [scoffs] I hardly think the FBI is concerned with matters like that.
