All cops are heroes.

Remember 9/11.

Cha-ching

Cops treating those they're supposed to be 'protecting and serving' like criminals? Unpossible!

2006-08-11 11:09:55 AM
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Morally and professionally inappropriate, but who hasn't wanted to shoot a bunch of uptight holier-than-thou morons with rubber bullets?!!!

2006-08-11 11:13:02 AM
Here's a link to a YouTube-ish video of the cops laughing.

What assholes.

I hope this lady sues the everliving fark out of these assholes.

Ignore the first video I posted, here's the really bad one.

For the video challenged, a transcript of the second link.

Officer off-camera: Who was the lady behind the sign?
Commanding Officer: Pardon?
(everyone laughing)
Commanding Officer: The good news is, the good news...
Officer off-camera: Do we have intel on her?
Commanding Officer: The good news about being able to watch you guys live on TV is that lady with the red dress...
(everyone laughing)
Commanding Officer: I don't know who got her, when it went through the sign and hit her smack dab in the head
(everyone laughing, cheering and clapping)
Officer off-camera: Do I get a piece of her red dress?
Commanding Officer: I don't know what's going to happen today but...(garbled)...I went to Metro-Dade before I went to BSO, this is the first time I actually got to come down here and be part of a winning team, usually we got our ass kicked ok? So yesterday we won and that's something to be proud of let's go home undefeated alright?
(cheering and clapping)

2006-08-11 11:32:20 AM
"I believe it's a disgrace to police officers everywhere," Ritter said. "Those people are very poor representatives of law enforcement. ...

uh no it isn't, those people are accurate representatives of law enforcement.

It's not us vs. them! Holy Crap! What a FARK up! They're there to protect everyone. Geez!

I hope every single one of those officers get's their asses-kicked right off the force. farking Janitors the rest of their misreable lives.

Headso: uh no it isn't, those people are accurate representatives of law enforcement.

No, they're an accurate representation of what is wrong with law enforcement.

I just noticed that myself. No wonder things are so bad there. That whole department needs to be cleaned out.

2006-08-11 12:20:54 PM
Anyone have the video of her getting shot?

Also, just 'cause it's Friday, and I feel like being a pain in the ass, I'll say that I bet she was being a real biatch. The civilian review board found no evidence of misconduct; so someone thinks the shooting was justified.

So here's the hypothetical: You're a cop who justifiably uses rubber bullets on a crowd, and you hit a particularly annoying protester. You people are all telling me that you wouldn't laugh your ass off about it later? I would. No question.

2006-08-11 12:24:00 PM
Headso

That's just a stupid comment. There are thousands and thousands of cops out there doing the right thing every day, fark you for saying they all suck. Just because you may be some fark up that gets himself in trouble with the cops doesn't mean they're doing anything wrong. Remember, they're there to enforce the laws, not write them.

2006-08-11 12:24:26 PM
If the civilians ON the review board don't want to have a hassle crossing the street every day, they'll say there was no evidence. C'mon, you can't be THAT Goddamned stupid.

2006-08-11 12:26:15 PM
/dad's a cop, so that's not supposition

2006-08-11 12:29:29 PM
I'm a veteran peace activist and I've been in some melee's in New York and D.C. The cops started every damned one of 'em.

robsul82: /dad's a cop, so that's not supposition

It's not exactly erudition, either. Your dad use the sleeper hold on you one too many times?

i'm liberal and a peace lover, but shooting people with rubber bullets IS funny...

2006-08-11 12:44:34 PM
shoot back

2006-08-11 12:45:14 PM
I had to laugh at the video. The part where someone says "Somewhere there's a fat boy hurting really bad" and the camera turns around to it's audience. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, so to speak.

Idiots.

2006-08-11 12:45:19 PM
filth: I'll say that I bet she was being a real biatch.

Supposing for a moment that this is true, being a real biatch doesn't warrant rubber bullets to the leg and head.

2006-08-11 12:45:57 PM
Well, I say that anybody behaving like a human with "intrinsic, inalienable rights" deserves to get shot in the face.

2006-08-11 12:46:03 PM
ffacker: Morally and professionally inappropriate, but who hasn't wanted to shoot a bunch of uptight holier-than-thou morons with rubber bullets?!!!

Yeah, but now those jackasses are (most likely) gonna get a nice smack of money paid for with your tax money.

But for the rest I agree; It's fun to see uppity clueless people get smacked.

2006-08-11 12:46:14 PM
ffacker

I know I always wanted to do something like this, if not just once. It's true. Shooting people with rubber bullets IS funny.

/sort of like how watching people get hit in the nuts with some sort of ball or a hockey stick is always funny

2006-08-11 12:46:21 PM
Hey, peaceniks don't fight back.

2006-08-11 12:46:33 PM
I appreciate the police, but this IS inappropriate. I generally think protesters are pains, but this one doesn't really sound like a freakshow.

Yeah, remember Victoria Snelgrove. I don't think anyone on the Boston PD was laughing about that incident, ever.

2006-08-11 12:46:42 PM
hahahaha

rubber

2006-08-11 12:47:16 PM
I think the Dumbass tag paid somebody off, this one belonged to Obvious.

2006-08-11 12:47:23 PM
"The civilian review board found no evidence of misconduct; so someone thinks the shooting was justified."

It's odd then that the cops are now apologizing.

Review boards = whitewash (until the press gets wind of the situation)

2006-08-11 12:47:23 PM
The camera then finds Ritter again, crouched alone in the street under her sign as rubber bullets continue to fly around her. She said a rubber bullet pierced her foam-board sign and struck her forehead.

"I fortunately had my head down between my knees while I cowered on the ground under my sign, so the shot didn't hit me directly in the eye," she said. "It hit me in the top of the head, so I felt blessed."

----------------------

Holy shiat that is funny! This made my day! I would give anything to shoot at filthy hippies with rubber bullets.

2006-08-11 12:47:26 PM
"I believe it's a disgrace to police officers everywhere," Ritter said. "Those people are very poor representatives of law enforcement.

Despite her protest against totalitarianism, Ms. Ritter still believes in the system and recognizes that not everyone is corrupt.

Just wanted to point that out.

2006-08-11 12:47:28 PM
I'm a veteran peace activist and I've been in some melee's in New York and D.C. The cops started every damned one of 'em.
The cops in those situations volunteer for it because they know what the deal is: start some chaos and the protestors will look bad.

I'm absolutely not saying that all cops are bad. Just that the ones that generally volunteer to work at those large protests are particularly aggressive.

2006-08-11 12:47:37 PM
WalkingCarpet

so you don't think cops can shoot rubber bullets at people throwing rocks and bricks at them?

2006-08-11 12:47:56 PM
Welcome to Bush's (and Reagan's) America.
Where civil protestors are shot for doing what the Constitution allows for. Nice.

2006-08-11 12:48:00 PM
ZOMG DAMN BUSH CHIMPYMCFLIGHTSUIT LOVERS! FRIGGIN NAZI FACISTS ARE RUINING THE RIGHT TO PROESTESTS!!1ONE!1! DOWN WIT DA POLICES AND THE BUSH POLICESES STATE!!!11!1

2006-08-11 12:48:02 PM
i wasn't there, but if someone's lobbing rocks and big sticks at me and i have the means to protect myself, their asses are getting shot. i doubt many farkers here would do differently.

/might not laugh about it later tho...
//then again, i might

2006-08-11 12:48:30 PM
Generally, I am almost always FOR the police.

But in this case, it's pretty hard to support them.

This morning my friend told me she was on her bike and got hit by a car that ran a red light. She was coming off the sidewalk to cross the street. She ended up being okay, with her bike taking most of the damage, and my friend walking away with a scrape, some bruises and generally just being shaken up.

When the cops came, the driver was nice and apologetic, and offered to pay for the bike and everything. I told her to be thankful for that, as many people choose to complicate situations like that by acting like total idiots. It was the cop, she said, who acted like a punk.

They didn't charge the guy who hit her, because they would have apparently had to charge HER as well for riding on the sidewalk, which is a bylaw offence just like running a red light.

Picking apart the ridiculousness of the system aside, she said the attitude of the cop to the girl who just got hit by a car was borderline unacceptable. He was very curt with her, didn't let her talk at all, treated her like the agitator in a riot.

Again I say... sometimes it's really hard to stand with the cops. Some of them ruin what is essentially a group of sound minded individuals with half-decent motivations.

2006-08-11 12:48:43 PM

"Mwahahaha! Good one, Triplett. Wet Negroes HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!"

Pssssst. Upholding the law does not always mean you are doing the right thing.

2006-08-11 12:48:48 PM
Silly me. I thought the right to peaceful protest was a Constitutional right. What was I thinking.

All of you cop supporters need to rethink your position.

Firefighters are heros. Cops are nerds with Napoleon complexes.

bdesign

Seconded. I work with the police all the time due to my job, and the vast majority of the time they are pretty awesome people. Using the logic some farkers have(a few bad examples represent the entirety of group), i could easily say that all Muslims are terrorists, all white people are selfish, all black people are poor and lazy, or something equally idiotic. Im just sick of the mentality that all police are monsters. As I said, most of em are people trying to do a job and keep you all safe, regardless of the fact that you seem to have no respect for that fact.

2006-08-11 12:50:17 PM
Yeah, it's not erudition, just knowing exactly what happens to members of civilian review boards if they come in with a ruling not agreeable to cops.

shiathead.

2006-08-11 12:50:19 PM
Angel of Death: Supposing for a moment that this is true, being a real biatch doesn't warrant rubber bullets to the leg and head.

So just going by her description of how things went down... after being shot in the leg with a rubber bullet, then getting pics taken of it, she goes BACK and sits down and placing her head down.... dumbass deserved the shot to the top of the head. Obviously the idea was to move the group and she went back for more... if a dog bites you, you don't try to pet it again.

What good is any of this without video of the protesters being hit?

Don't I deserve a good laugh too?

2006-08-11 12:50:39 PM
protestin'?
round here we call that biatchin'.

2006-08-11 12:50:44 PM
"I would give anything to shoot at filthy hippies with rubber bullets."

Too pussy for law enforcment or something?

2006-08-11 12:50:50 PM
So this is how liberty dies... to thunderous applause.

/fark you, I'm quoting SW:ROTS, what of it.
//only decent damn line in the prequel trilogy anyway

2006-08-11 12:51:13 PM
Yeah, funny how no one is pissed off at the protestors who were throwing rocks at the cops.

// Solution: both sides have assholes.

2006-08-11 12:51:14 PM
yeah smitty, it soulds like someone started throwing rocks and the non-throwers caught a bad one.

It's not like people when they are talking shop don't talk about how they "scored" on their targets.

I say give them a pass if there was actual rock throwing, they cared enough not to shoot to kill.
