I just got home from a 32 Big Mac day and I don't want any of them.

So Big Macs, which started as a burger, then became a means of understanding currency exchange rates, became a unit of measurment for unhealthy foods, are now units of time?

So work/time=big mac?

So how many Joules per Big Mac?

Please convert your answer to BTUs.

Cheeseburger

I GIS'd "belushi cheeseburger" but miraculously there was no results. WTF?

How much is a Big Mac these days? Beats counting in coffee spoons.

For I have known them all already, known them all:-
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.
So how should I presume?

American cities also did well on the burger-scale with cities that ranked highly including Los Angeles (11 minutes), Chicago and Miami (12 minutes) and New York (13 minutes).

But everybody knows that a New York Minute is not the same as everybody else's.

eazydog

You're welcome. I'm here till Tuesday. I'd say try the veal, but you'd have to work 1.6 hours to afford it, and it's just not THAT good.

2006-08-09 10:34:09 PM
Both cities pall in comparison to Los Angeles chefs, who earn more than $US47,500 ($NZ76,848) a year for their 48 hours a week.

To be fair most of those chefs are out of work Baldwin brothers though.

Are there any "McRules" the Kiwis must follow to avoid getting their food tampered with?

/No pickles. Oh, God help you if I find pickles.

But everybody knows that a New York Minute is not the same as everybody else's.

So...much is that in standard american?

2006-08-09 10:35:09 PM
Hey, does anybody know how much they cost in the US?

2006-08-09 10:36:02 PM
pestochicken

To tell you how much they cost, someone would have to admit to EATING that slop.

Kiwis, on the other hand, are on sale 5/$1 this week.

The Economist has been doing the big mac comparison for purchasing power parity for awhile now.

$2.40 for a whopper.

That's a gateway drug to Big Macs anyway...

2006-08-09 10:38:48 PM
according to this article, the average US price of a big mac, is $2.90 after tax

I was going to go on to compute how much I would have to work to earn enough but then three things popped into my head instead.

1) I don't want people on fark to know how little i get paid
2) It is getting pretty late and I have to get up in the morning for my low paying job
3) I don't like big macs, so I don't really care

2006-08-09 10:41:19 PM
You have to work a few extra minutes for that special sauce.

Wikipedia says...

In some restaurants, McDonald's also offers a "Mega Mac" with four patties and an extra slice of cheese.

Yikes!

2006-08-09 10:46:50 PM
Ironically, the NZ McDonalds worker has to work at least 30 minutes to buy a Big Mac. That's not accounting for staff discount, which IIRC is about 30%, so it's about 21 minutes.

Maybe not that ironic.

2006-08-09 10:47:45 PM
Taking UltraFark's numbers, and bumping them up a little bit since I live in a big city, I figured out it takes me 10.8 minutes to afford a Big Mac.

Take that you damn Kiwis!

2006-08-09 10:47:56 PM
Less than a gallon of gas.

2006-08-09 10:49:26 PM
On another note, I just ate two of the bastards. Big Macs, that is, not McDonalds workers (very few of them are appetizing). I only work about 3 minutes per Big Mac though, so it takes longer to eat one than to earn it.

2006-08-09 10:51:44 PM
Less than a gallon of gas.

Produces two gallons of ass gas. Now...if we could just figure out how to use ass gas...

2006-08-09 11:00:32 PM
That article would have made some sense if they...I don't know...used the same amount of hours for comparison? Or maybe even explained if they used the price of a US BigMac or if they took each regions price on BigMac.

2006-08-09 11:00:37 PM
Wait, so which is it? Workers in Nairobi had to toil the longest -- 89 minutes, but Jakarta trailed the field?

/confused

Flaming Asshat

"Produces two gallons of ass gas. Now...if we could just figure out how to use ass gas..."

yes... too bad there isn't a use for methane gas. someone should find a way to power things with it, like furnaces, ovens, water heaters, etc.

then they could come up with a name for it. i know! how about "Natural Gas"

yea, that would be awesome.

Look at a bottle. Look at your anus (use a mirror if necessary). Repeat as long as necessary.

Would it be ironic if the bus had leather seats?
