Oh!! my mistake, I first saw "Will Wheaton" and was thinking what the fark...

Wow. So in about 15 years or so, it would cost roughly $1.3M USD to place myself in one of the most dangerous situations a human being could be in. And I could be in that situation for hours.

From article: "Virgin Galactic, owned by billionaire British entrepreneur Richard Branson, will charge 110,000 pounds (209,600 dollars, 162,900 euros) a ticket to give passengers to experience weightlessness for five minutes."

Thats a rip off. You would have to work fast if you wanna join that 87 mile high club too.

Despite that I really want the space industry to grow and take on new markets, Virgin's plans seem rather subpar to me. Their press releases are misleading. A ballistic flight to 87 miles is not a space flight! For a true spaceflight, you'd need to expend 25 times as much energy, using a rocket expotentially bigger in size. If people want to experience weightlessness, I would reccomend them to go fly the Vomit Comet for 1% of the price. Same exact thing. In the meantime, save up your money to pay the Russians for the genuine space experience.

The mints will stay on the pillows. It's called velcro, which was invented for the space program to solve exactly that type of problem. After all you need to keep your spoon from floating off, or your wrench, or yourself for that matter. Astronauts wear velcro bottomed shoes to hold them in place while working.

/the more you know.
//just one of the spin off products from NASA.
///only gov't project to ever produce more $ than it spent!
////just think what private enterprise will do in space!!!

A friend of mine had dinner with Richard Branson a wee while ago, and apparently the cost covers first class flights and accomodation from anywhere in the world to get to the launch site and three friends can travel to the site with you however they will not get to go up obviously.

Still a bit pricey though!

Another dimension
...of travel.

Seriously though,

1) Come on, Mr. Branson, you know everyone in the world would love to fark in zero-g. Surely a billionaire deviant like you would put this in a business plan somewhere.

2) Why haven't we heard anything like this coming out of Russia? Why aren't they in the game?
