(News Observer)   Research shows that teens who watch pro wrestling are more prone to violence. But don't tell them that, or you'll get the Iron Claw   ( divider line

This is just a load of crap. I've been watching wrestling since I was a teen and never got violent. Parents should be monitoring what their kids watch anyway so they don't get violent
2006-08-07 07:38:06 AM
It couldn't have anything to do with teenagers that are prone to commit acts of violence are drawn to wrestling would it? Nah, wrestling is the only influence on how teenagers view violence.

monkey see monkey do

I think teens who watch pro wrestling are more prone to repress their powerful homosexual urges.
2006-08-07 09:13:58 AM
Is it that pro wrestling makes teen violent or that violent teens watch pro wrestling? BROTHER!!

Maybe kids that are more violent prefer wrestling television.

/don't believe in generalized causality.
2006-08-07 11:24:27 AM
Right. And romantic comedies are responsible for making tons of people hopeless romantics with poor senses of humour.

Pro Wrezlin = soap opera's for Red-Necks

Isn't it the other way around?

/de-ja vu?
2006-08-07 11:25:18 AM
Now I know why I was attack by that group of steel chair wielding teens dressed in colorful tights.
2006-08-07 11:25:50 AM
I always liked that insane wrestler who used to eat the turnbuckles.
2006-08-07 11:26:56 AM
Didn't one kid kill his friend or brother at some point in the past while attempting some kind of wrestling inspired move? That alone should be enough to outlaw television.
2006-08-07 11:27:05 AM
Why the Iron Claw? Everyone knows Steel is a much more powerful metal. Just ask Krom.

So teens who listen to ipods and watch wrestling like to have violent sex?
2006-08-07 11:27:50 AM
Research shows that boredteens who watch pro wrestling are more prone to violence.

That's better.

Seriously, keep them busy in some way and you won't have near as many problems with them.
2006-08-07 11:28:19 AM
Research also shows that people who watch pro-wrestling are more likely to have double-digit IQ's.
2006-08-07 11:28:27 AM
i hate when studies assume cause and effect. it's bad science, and these people should know better. for all they know, violent teens are more likely to watch pro wrestling because it appeals to their aggressive nature.

/i don't care for pro wrestling myself. it's a soap opera.

Odd, I used to watch wrestling in my teens and I'm not violent, weird.

Oops, I forgot where the space bar was on that last post.
2006-08-07 11:29:20 AM
And DuRant said girls who watched wrestling six or more times over a two-week period started date fights 170 percent more often than those who didn't watch wrestling.

WTF is a date fight?

I think teens who watch pro wrestling are more prone to repress their powerful homosexual urges.

Sitting around watching sweaty men in panties grope each other while pretending to wrestle is a perfectly manly use of their time.

/Watched about 2 minutes of it once, during a commercial on another station.

I just popped in to make sure someone made the mandatory "It's still real to me!" post, hopefully with a picture of the speaker. In the absence of such a post, I must say, "For shame, Fark. For shame."

spleef420: Think of the "fark the children" remark, then think pyjamas and court, then think of not so smooth criminal behaviour.

with this being so close to the music sex topic, I thought it was a joke. dnrtfa.

I also read that there is a formula.

people + n = p(n)

I mean cmon people.

I've found that watching wrestling makes my ass skinny.

//PPVs are expensive. :-(
2006-08-07 11:34:34 AM
I wonder what happens to teens who watch wrestling while listening to raunchy music on their ipods?

Sex crazed teen boy clotheslines girlfriend during sex. Hospitalarity ensues.
2006-08-07 11:35:10 AM
I love hopped-up statistics.

I also love watching people who don't like wrestling try to characterize wrestling fans as homosexuals. Hilarious.

\Isn't it enough to say "I don't like it"?
\\Doesn't like it
\\\Used to like it, when it was actually entertaining
2006-08-07 11:36:33 AM
reality tv makes me want to kill, can they do a survey on that?
2006-08-07 11:36:37 AM
Andric: In that case, you are no longer homosexual.
2006-08-07 11:37:16 AM
The appeal of wrestling is mainly for the sports orientated. It shows that even if you're an ex-pro coked up booze-hound who did time in prison, there's still good bank to be made (and delectable whores to be fondled.)

Why (Ba)Tonya never signed with the WWF/E is a mystery to me.
2006-08-07 11:37:32 AM
Hot diggety!

Someone call Jack Thompson! Get Congress in here to start dedicating hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to this! It's an outrage I say.

Oh, the humanity!

I think you'll find that it's teens who are prone to violence are of low intelligence, and low intelligence is drawn to pro wrestling along with other programming.
2006-08-07 11:42:07 AM
Back in the day, I used to watch every Saturday morning, even though I knew it was fake. It was a fun, predictable source of entertainment.

Recently, I was looking for something to watch and stopped on Spike TV while wrestling was on. Holy crap! This is not the wrestling I remember. A whole bunch more out of the ring stuff was going on... and it just seemed weird.

2006-08-07 11:45:15 AM
Yes, but are they more prone to real violence, or just pretend violence?
2006-08-07 11:47:41 AM

So THAT's what's different.

But I still can't get enough of this:

put a little ass on it, indeed.
