I actually buy this, there was a lot of smoke in the original photo already. In the end, he didn't add any where once there was none, he only made it look thicker.

You're fired, moran.

I don't. That's a massive edit, and not a simple "oops i was fixing a scratch" mistake. He should have gone with the story a similarly discredited photog gave last year, who claimed he has been playing around with Photoshop and accidentally uploaded his modification to the news agency.

And then there's this.

Churchill2004: wtf?

Please compare with the original original:

From Fnord's link:
Whatever the message though, it is not real.

That was a real little girl killed in a bomb attack. They might have paraded her dead body up and down for the news cameras but the girl died in an explosion from an Israeli bomb. That's "real" enough for me.

Both sides are using the media to their advantage.

2006-08-06 07:19:45 PM
To be clear, Skleenar's was the one I was operating under the impression of being the original.

2006-08-06 07:22:07 PM
Fnord: And then there's this.

same photograhper, too, wasn't it?

General Specific: To be clear, Skleenar's was the one I was operating under the impression of being the original.

Sheesh.

You really have to wonder if people who compare two totally different photos together to claim malicious intent in their differences even believe their own crap.

i think skleenar's is a clean-up of photoshopped one.

i dunno, the one i had is from LGF, so i don't know.

Churchill2004: i think skleenar's is a clean-up of photoshopped one.

watch the skyline in your 'comparison' gif.

And then tell me who has got crappy material.

Skleenar: You said a mouthful there, pal.

are you going to actually respond or just make vauge derogatory remarks?

2006-08-06 07:27:41 PM
Two completely different pics. Look at Skleenars pic. It's the reuters photo without the cloned imaes. You're showing a different photo entirely and saying "see? look at the difference" It's bush league and even more dishonest then you are claiming Reuters to be.

Skleenar: And then tell me who has got crappy material.

why would someone mess with the skyline? it looks like mine is real, but i honestly don't know. i'm waiting for anybody to actually post some evidence of which one is real.

Churchill2004: why would someone mess with the skyline? it looks like mine is real, but i honestly don't know. i'm waiting for anybody to actually post some evidence of which one is real.

Never mind.

Just go back to LGF and talk to people who desire to be mislead.

I sure hope you're kidding, and don't think the term bush league has anything to do with President Bush.

Oh, I get it--It's sarcasm.

I thought you were serious there for a second.

Kudos, friend. You had me going there!

Isn't citing LGF as a reliable source for all your outrage needs almost, but not quite, as unbiased as say MewsMax of Yellow Times?

2006-08-06 07:50:02 PM
Is this possibly done trying to discredit Reuters on purpose? (Maybe trying to have people believe that the bombings are not that bad?)

What other purpose could there be?

2006-08-06 07:50:38 PM
Both sides use the media to their advantage.

The sticky point here is: Hezbollah uses civilians as human shields to gain PR at the cost of innocent lives.

Discuss.

2006-08-06 07:51:04 PM
I kinda remember something like this happening on the Brady Bunch.

:}

2006-08-06 07:52:03 PM
Well, thank God no fires were started by the Israeli bombs, as that lying Islamofascist photographer tried to portray. All the women and children are safe.

2006-08-06 07:52:09 PM
ernst_k

Well, the purpose is obvious, but you chose to take the 'conspiracy' purpose instead it sounds like.

2006-08-06 07:52:28 PM
Yeah, but Mister Brady caught the guy with the "throw the briefcase on the floor trick".

2006-08-06 07:52:41 PM
Anybody defending this jackass should be perma-banned from Fark.

But I know there will be dozens on here saying it was no big deal.

2006-08-06 07:53:55 PM
If the Lebanese are so tore up over it (I know poor choice of words), why don't they just throw those Hezbollah basticthes out of the country or invite Israel in to do it for them?

2006-08-06 07:54:34 PM
Jack Torrence: Anybody defending this jackass should be perma-banned from Fark.

Free speech surrenders.

2006-08-06 07:54:44 PM
TheOther

Well, thank God Hezbollah didn't intentionally put civilians around launch sites to use them as human shields. And, thank God the Hezbollah hasn't been firing rockets at Israel for a long, long time now.

Otherwise all the women and children WOULD be safe.

2006-08-06 07:56:11 PM
BXRWXR

Hezbollah is too powerful, and the Lebanese army is/was in no position to disarm them anyway. Shiatty position for the innocent people in Lebanon (and in the near future, in Iran and Syria).

2006-08-06 07:56:17 PM
No, you can exercise your free speech to defend this biased jackass.

But you should be banned for your stupidity.

2006-08-06 07:56:37 PM
Churchill2004: for comparison:

Not only did the al-Reuters propagandist/photographer add more smoke, he added more bombed out buildings.

2006-08-06 07:57:40 PM
Whoa, what a day! LGF, WND, and two NRO links on greenlighted.

When the news doesn't fit your ideology, create your own!

General Specific: I actually buy this, there was a lot of smoke in the original photo already. In the end, he didn't add any where once there was none, he only made it look thicker.

That is not the most intelligent statement I have ever read at Fark.

Some time ago, there was a thread where posters just kept adding and adding to an image. Anyone care to take a crack at it again?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Bueller?

2006-08-06 08:00:37 PM
It's not LGF's fault that they're reporting this scandal while the MSM largely ignores it.

Then again, had it been a Jewish photographer who manipulated a picture of Haifa burning from Hezbollah rockets, it would be front page news on CNN.com...

2006-08-06 08:01:17 PM
Haha, I love that link for the guy "parading" the bodies around.

I like how it dissects a still photo with his mouth open as him "dramatically" showing "anguish" on a "film set". Because the only time anybody opens their mouths, it's to show photogenic outrage. People don't talk, they communicate through telepathy.

Oh, and look, LGF is still touting the CBS memos as fake, of which there was no proof. Unverified, folks, does not mean fake.

Damn, the muzzie-haters are out in full force these days.

2006-08-06 08:01:21 PM
I can't believe they did THAT BAD of a photoshop job. They didn't even try to make it realistic.

OK, the one with some smoke, and the one with the copied smoke. Buildings are also copied in the copied version.

It's a major fabrication.

But Reuters. Now there's an organization you can trust.
