At least he's making reasonable demands.

Unrealistic, however.

Uhh, yeah Moudy. That will definitely fix all the problems. You just get right on that.

Wait, what? You mean, it's reasonable to call for the elimination of Israel as a state? Maybe my sarcastic meter is down since it is so early...

there's still the question of nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran

Does Ahmedinjad ever worry about pissing off the other power brokers in Iran? I mean, this guy is going off on every subject at every chance he can get. At some point, shouldn't Iran say, "Uh, the opinions of Ahmedinijad are not necessarily those of the Iranian government or its people. In fact, we do like Burger King's flame broied whoppers."

You have to feel that he has some sort of tacit approval by Ayatollah Khamenei. If he didn't, he probably would have already been reined in by now. Though he is the "President", he really doesn't have a whole hell of a lot of power. That country is run behind the scenes by the Supreme Leader's Guardian Council. They make all the real decisions.

It's my understanding that he's not much more powerful than Tony Snow. Although he's elected, has the title of "president" and has some formal head-of-state duties (receiving ambassadors, etc.), he's basically the mouthpiece for the Guardian Council.

And also... this:

Powerless? Not entirely, but he's severely limited in what he can do if he goes against the wishes of the ayatollahs.

Handsome? I dunno, I'm a bad judge of that. I've heard other people say he is.

Ooh, scathing retort from Tony Blair:

Tony Blair, the UK prime minister, criticised the president's comments as "deeply unhelpful" and "quite shocking."

Careful, or Blair might characterize your genocidal statement as "even more deeply unhelpful" next time.

Honestly, Blair get some balls. Ahmadinejad is Hitler reincarnated and you call him "unhelpful". He calls for the deaths of US and British people in retaliation for Lebanese losses, and this is "unhelpful".

How about "That Iranian dude is crazy" or "You're a nutjob, Ahmadinejad" or "Let's nuke that psycho bastard"?

Iran has challenged the world, and no one has responded. It will just get worse as we try to do this all with political correctness. Oops, I mean diplomacy.

yes, indeed. It's not like Muslims are busy slaughtering each others in Iraq right now, or others in Sudan. Or in many, many other countries.

You're right, only Poland no more Israel and it's gonna stop, right?

Right.
So really there are TWO cures for this conflict.

I agree DEATH TO ALL RELIGIOUS STATES....... Errrr maybe he didnt mean Islamic states, just Jewish.

But really get rid of the zionest there and create a secular state.

KaponoFor3: Wait, what? You mean, it's reasonable to call for the elimination of Israel as a state? Maybe my sarcastic meter is down since it is so early...

Not to be brutally honest here, but was the formation of Israel possibly the stupidest plan ever?

1.) Put all the Jews we can find (who have historically found themselves oppressed and at odds with other cultures) in the middle of a crap ton of Muslims (who see people with different cultures as an affront to Allah), in a holiest of holiest area for multiple world religions.
2.) Shake
3.) Bake

Why isn't this working? Maybe they need more bombs?

I do think Jews deserve a state, just not so sure that the venue was a good idea.

/But GAWD promised us Jerusalem!!!
//STFU, here's Montana.

2006-08-03 12:42:13 PM
Thats a capital idea! Remove their little terrorist fundementalist regime. It was born in theft and maintained by theft and oppression. Make the area an International zone.

He's an upper-class Englishman. "Deeply unhelpful" is just his equivalent of "Shut up, idiot. We haven't got time for your nonsense."

How many recent wars were driven by religion? Sometimes, religion was one of the factor, but religious wars? It's been a while, man, at least for major ones. How many religious wars were the United States involved in?

I am not saying that. I am saying that 99% of the *WARS* on earth right now are religiously motivated. Yes, even Iraq.
