Are you saying hezbollah would lie?

They usually uphold the highest standard of truth in their brave struggle against the zionist oppresors who are responsible for all the problems of arabs everywhere and use muslim babies blood in their secret jew bread.

2006-08-02 11:39:51 AM
So, in another, more accurate way, Hezbollah is NOT mowing down Israelis left and right.

Didn't Hezbollah launch something like 190 missiles and only kill one guy?

Who is Hezbollah?

Hezbollah might be a load of nutjobs, but they certainly are showing everyone else in the Middle East that the Israeli military isn't the invincible force it's often portrayed to be. In fact, if the situation is looked at dispassionately, Hezbollah is doing pretty well all things considered.

It's awesome to see this man is Hizbullah's new PR guy

The Zionist Cowards are fleeing the Awesome Might of the Hizbullah, killing hundreds of them and laying waste all the way to Brooklyn, leaving no jew alive in our Mighty Path, Allah Akbar

Absolutely not. They are showing to everyone in the Middle East that, if they want to avoid being completely raped right, left and center by the IDF, they need to hide in the middle of civilian areas and behind invalid children

Not surprising that their rockets fail to kill anyone. Katushya rockets are designed to be fired by the hundreds or thousands all at once because they're completely unguided. Firing a dozen at a time won't give you much chance of hitting any real target.

I saw a training video on TV news of Hezbollah fighters rapelling out of a mock up helicopter that was strung between buildings by cables. What is the point of this? It would make sense if they HAD at least one helicopter, but they don't. Were they training the guys in case they found some later on?

Well, it's not like they could go out in the field and do a clean Plaines d'Abraham style battle with red and blue uniforms and all that. You do with what you have. In this case, they have civilians and cheap rockets.

That's what I was thinking. Why the hell are they training them to do that for? In case they manage to steal an Israeli chopper?

Ha ha, Tatsuma! War is pretty funny, huh? Let's all make jokes about the current conflict -- and fark all the innocent civilians on both sides that are being slaughtered. You're so transparent.

Hezbollah's media empire - which includes the Al-Nur radio station and the Web site moqawama.net - has been an inseparable part of the psychological war. Sometimes, Hezbollah also transmits its messages through other media, such as the Iranian television station Al-Alam. The crown jewel of the empire, Al-Manar, is broadcast in Lebanon and throughout the Arab world, by satellite. At every stage of the fighting, Al-Manar was the station that broadcast Hezbollah's messages...."Al-Manar has had an enormous impact on all the Arab press, and in effect on the Hebrew press as well," said Amir Levy from Satlink Communications, which monitors Arab-language media.

So the IDF is essentially fighting Rupert Murdoch with his own private militia. Let's hope this doesn't give Fox News any more craptastic ideas.

So, the two options are

A) Stand in the middle of a field with huge, bright colors
B) Put rocket lauchers over houses filled with invalid children

That's all? No middle-ground?

You know Tatsuma when one side whines about the tactics the other is using, its a sure sign that A) they are effective and B) the other side was unprepared for them

I laughed when Iraqi forces in GW I shook thier fists at the sky and called Americans "cowardly" for using their Air superiority to maximum advantage, and I luagh now when I hear Israelis whine that Guerillas in a Urban setting won't just obligingly bunch up in an open field so the Israelis can wipe them out.

Asymetrical tactics are a biatch. As the US found out in Iraq, you can't stoop to their level because the moral Onus is on the occupying force, and you can't effectively stop them without resorting to their tactics.

But then a has been said " war is hell"

WayneKerr

I con-Kerr, the US has a moral duty to quickly and simply blow-up all of the countries that hate us for our Freedom. This pissant response to Terrorism and trying to win the hearts and minds of heathens is utter non-sense and a spectacular waste time and resources. We need to show them that we mean business.

2006-08-02 11:52:36 AM
I think that Hezbollah's ability to make Isreal fight on Hezbollah's terms by hiding behind civilians is a victory. They are currently winning the immediate battle, but the force and professionalism of the IDF will win the war.

Maybe it's a propaganda video for potential recruits and they were hoping they wouldn't notice the helicopter was fake.

That's like my brave struggle against the communist government of north korea.

I couldn't actually get to north korea because I'm scared of planes and I can't afford any weapons, so I strangled my spouse and used our infant daughter for a hostage to keep the cops at bay. It took several hours for the police sniper to severely wound me, as I was pretty adept at holding that baby in the likely path of bullets. I'd say I did pretty well all things considered.

Let me tell you, the fine fellows in the state pen found my battle tactics utterly understandable given my limited means.

/PS: when I was wounded I dropped the baby, how could the policemen have been so irresponsible?

Yep, they're really getting owned.

I think the kill count was at 36 Israeli soldiers, 50+ Hezbollah fighters, 450+ civilians (18 Israeli civilians, the remainder Lebanese).

// blah blah blah treating soldiers as civvies blah blah

I'm not sure the word "rockets" mean what they think it means. I have this image of shoulder-mounted RPGs being shot at 75 degree angles to try to gain distance. I can't imagine Hezbollah firing SCUDs or something that would cause concern.

Equivalence.

The idea is to send a message- stop sneaking across the border and kidnapping IDF soldiers and stop launching rockets at Isreal.

Everyone keeps talking about how this is a disproportiate response by Israel. Seems to me that Hezbollah was very well entrenched with thousands of rockets already aimed at Israel. Maybe the response wasn't that outrageous...

/If Mexican Rebels launched rockets into Texas and kidnapped US soldiers in cross borders strikes, how many think the US would negotiate?
//How many think the US would have waited 5 years before responding?

2006-08-02 11:55:30 AM
From article: Hezbollah was putting up resistance, but the officials said they were confident that would not change their objective of reaching four miles into Lebanon by Thursday.

Where have I heard similar statements like this before? Ahhh, yesh, Iraq war on how our esteemed officials claimed that the resistance would be no bnig deal.

Pssshhhhh, haven't these ppl learned anything by wars in Iraq and Afghan????????? You want to win, you need to THINK not use brute force. Especially when you barge into someone's country you KNOW they're gonna fight back hard.

I predect Israel will be in Lebanon for the SAME time frame we've been in Iraq. Forver!

RsquaredW: I think the kill count was at 36 Israeli soldiers, 50+ Hezbollah fighters, 450+ civilians (18 Israeli civilians, the remainder Lebanese).

Not really. So far, it's 50 Israeli, 450 Lebanese, 400 Hizbullah.
