When I saw this headline last night, I said to myself "Oh shiat..." but then read the article and found out that this isn't a very rare occurrence.

WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... pay attention to me!!

Wait, why are you all looking at me? You're going to invade!

These people are nuts. Them and their over-pampered, believes-his-own-press "leader" with the bad Walkenesque haircut.

FWIW ... I heard this on (Communist) China based radio station about 3 hours ago.

According to the report I heard, the DPRK shot first. 3 rounds. At a toll booth.

/I'll leave it to greater minds than mine to determine if there is any significance in this.

Poor Kim Jong. He quietly bides his time, waiting for a lull in world politics to fire some missiles and strike fear in the hearts of millions. His time in the sun finally arrives, and he barely gets 5 minutes of glory before he's overshadowed and returns to being the world's gnat.

I have done this before at the Berlin Wall
Whne your on Gaurd duty you get bored. So sometimes the Russian, would pop off a shot at us, lol we would do the same, We spent most of the time explaining why we are 1 or two bullets short to our commander lol

Remember, the Korean War is still not over! There was no formal & lasting peace settlement. For the last 50 years, both sides have been waiting anxiously for the stalemate to end.

If the south koreans really wanted to cause problems they would have lobbed food over the wall.

2006-08-01 09:39:48 AM
Well, the South did cut off food aid. Poor DPRK soldiers were trying to eat their bullets and when they bit down, whaddya know.

Typical violent communist-atheist behavior.
I'm not surprised or even concerned.

When I was there '88-'89 this kind of thing and worse happened every couple of weeks. I still don't believe a year has passed since the last DMZ shooting incident.

Update to Kim's biography - it was the Dear Leader who gave Mario Puzo tips on writing that scene with Sonny.

What's really dangerous is the fact that they opponents of the US are starting to wisen up. They don't have to win the wars. They can bankrupt us just fine by losing them.

When is a death not a casualty?

Some list anything that removes a combatant from the field as a casualty. Anything from shell shock to the violent removal of a limb

That image is awesome.

Whenever I see deaths and casualties listed I always assume that the casualties refer to those injured.

Did anyone else read this as:

Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach snipers in the way.

Maybe one of the South Koreans was chewing gum.

I took a tour of the DMZ and - aside from the "death waiver" we had to sign - one of the requirements was that we couldn't bring any candy, gum, etc. into the area. I guess the chewing visual would be too much for the starving North Koreans to handle.
