I vote for this man in 2008.

/might be a few shaky years, but ultimately the rebuilding process will flourish.

REAL SHAMAN: "Why can't we get a normal president?"

What a wonderful question.

Ask the press.

Actually, the electorate is why. The press just panders to them, like the politicians do.

2006-07-30 08:06:44 PM
Another off the wall thought.....

Could someone run with a very checkered past that they cop to and have a chance?

"vote for me, I already did my time for stealing!"

"And i did my niece, too"

"Of course I'm a thief. Watch me closely."

"My lips are moving. What does that tell you?"

Smitty, you're a shining example of why the dems consistently lose to chimps, retards, and fundies. Somehwere along the way your brain ceased to understand the meaning of "electability. Those of us who realize that the single-most important quality a candidate can have is electability will wake you up in the late fall of 2008. Have a nice sleep, thanks very much.

Electability, of course, meaning something very much other than "competency", and closer to "popularity". Sad, but true. Watch American Idol for this in action.

the_gospel_of_thomas - Grow some balls, nominate a farking candidate who can win, have a message of your own - other than "anyone but bush,"
and when you loose, - and this is a novel idea - "move - on" it's sad, to see so many people claim that "Gore won" in 2000 and that "Kerry won" in 04.

Come on, guys, this is really getting embarrasing for you - I feel bad for you all ...

At this point, "anyone but Bush" seems like a damn reasonable goal. It's kinda like the old "death or JuJu" joke. Some of us have simply gotten to the "anything but JuJu" point, whereas guys like TGOT are pushing us into "Death BY JuJu," wherein Bush and his like-minded cronies fark us all right into the grave one way or another.

But hey, as long as you still want a president you'd like to have a beer with so you don't have to feel intellectually insecure, go ahead and roust up a Monkey-Man Puppet v. 2.0. maybe you could put Larry the Cable Guy on a ticket with Cledus T. Judd.

generic user: My mentally handicapped cousin could run this counrty better than Bush. I'll vote for whatever's not republican in November.

You guys voting together?

Al Gore lost my vote forever when he made Fred "god hates fags" Phelps his delegate in the 88 primary, and used him as a fundraiser.

Also, his penis is large and extremely girthy. Maybe one day he would honor us Faux News believing plebians with a glimpse of his majestic tool.

We actually have an eight terabyte image of its lower right flank taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in Frebruary of 2005. If you have enough storage space, I'd be glad to send you a copy.

.

2006-07-30 08:10:10 PM
And I really, really meant to say Frebruary, because that's a longer word than February; Frebruary is a word that 95% of the population doesn't know, so I appear superior to everyone else.

Ishidan, you have to first gain control in order to prove you can do something with it. Pretty fundamental, huh? My biggest beef with the dems is that they have no idea of what makes a candidate electable and pay no attention to that angle of a national campaign. That leads to candidates such as Dukakis and Kerry (neither of which had a chance in he// from the beginning).

/ Warner is PLENTY electable as well as competent

2006-07-30 08:13:24 PM
People: the portrayals of the president as chimpy and dumb are not accurate, no matter how badly the man gives a speech. You can't be dumb and run the country.

Gore isn't dumb either.

These characterizations are made by the press to garner votes. Drop them. You have never met the president and you don't know if he's dumb.

The president has lived his whole life in the shadow of the government. He has ties with government officials and large corporations that go back thirty years, and he learned everything from his father, who is a master at controlling foreign interests. And now W has picked up his father's tricks and is doing the same.

Corrupt, not farking dumb.

Jennifer Grey is doing political articles now?

2006-07-30 08:15:01 PM
The Democrats would be taking a big chance running Al Gore. He lost the first time, which is a big problem. He's about as uncharismatic as they come (an unfortunate fact of American political life). I would prefer him to Hillary Clinton, a sure loser in the general election, but really, it comes down to who the candidates are, both in the nominating process and in the general election. If the Repubicans can find a honest, competent candidate of the center who hasn't been tarnished by association with the current regime, I will consider him (or her). Likewise for the Democrats. Gee, wouldn't that be great, an election in which choosing a president was difficult because both sides put up good candidates!

Incidentally, I don't subscribe to Al Gore's theories about global warming. Sure, the world is getting warmer, but I don't think it's due so much to fossil fuels as it is to global and solar climactic cycles (other planets in the Solar System are showing signs of warming too). So should we free ourselves of dependence upon foreign energy sources? Absolutely, for purely economic reasons. Should we cripple the economy in the process because of our fear of global warming? I don't think so, and Al Gore will have to prove to me that that sort of unintended economic consequence won't be a byproduct of his policies, or I won't vote for him.

2006-07-30 08:15:30 PM
the biggest redneck here, sadly you may be right. But us naive fools who know better will probably continue to vote for the one most qualified to govern, AKA the lesser of 2 evils.

Unfortunately, we're vastly outnumbered by raving farking retards.

2006-07-30 08:15:54 PM
Cerebral Ballsy, that's nonsense. W *IS* a retard. All you have to do is look at him. His father was a million times smarter than him. I honestly think that the elder Bush sees Junior as a retard as well.

Oh, and anybody who says "both parties are the same... It doesn't matter who you vote for" is either

a.) a lazy-ass who'd prefer to spout off nonsense to sound hip and cynical rather than go to the trouble of learning and thinking.

or

b.) a Bushbot who doesn't want to admit what a farking disaster that guy's been... "Doesn't matter who I vote(d) for, they're all the same."

or finally,

c.) a variation on 'b,' a dittohead who will vote republican no matter what... The republican nominee could fark his wife and kill his kids, and he'd tell himself he may as well still vote for the guy because the Dem would have done it too and at least voting republican doesn't make him feel all "faggy."

False dichotomy. We don't have to cripple the economy. All the fuel- and energy-saving mandates of the Seventies were good for the economy and good for the advancement of technology. and safety. and health.

The environment is a useless topic. The environment is changing, and it always has been. We're not even at temperatures that the earth sustained before we even got here. This topic is just another distraction.

It also happens to be a primary issue that I will consider in November, so you can just fark right off. Also, your temperature argument is horrible. Earth could reach a couple thousand degrees before your conditions are no longer met.

2006-07-30 08:21:46 PM
REAL SHAMAN: Except of course, those scientists that aren't part of your consensus.

You might want to look up the meaning of consesus -
Main Entry: con·sen·sus
Pronunciation: k&n-'sen(t)-s&s
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Latin, from consentire
1 a : general agreement : UNANIMITY b : the judgment arrived at by most of those concerned
2 : group solidarity in sentiment and belief
usage The phrase consensus of opinion, which is not actually redundant (see sense 1a; the sense that takes the phrase is slightly older), has been so often claimed to be a redundancy that many writers avoid it. You are safe in using consensus alone when it is clear you mean consensus of opinion, and most writers in fact do so.

it's the consensus of a portion of the scientific community.

What part of the environment is a primary issue? I'm being serious.

Are there candidates (or will there be) that advocate wasting resources? or want to clear cut the amazon?

Some of us have simply gotten to the "anything but JuJu" point, whereas guys like TGOT are pushing us into "Death BY JuJu," wherein Bush and his like-minded cronies fark us all right into the grave one way or another.

For those that never heard the joke...

Three guys are captured during a Congo safari. The Chief has had long experience with the British, so has learned some English. He tells the three,

"You three have been captured trespassing on our sacred grounds. The normal penalty for this is death. Of course, you had no way to know that you were, so instead, I give you a choice. Death, or juju."

The three look at each other...what the f*ck is juju? Better not to ask, they'll just get mad and remove that as an option...and what method of death? Not going to ask that one either.

The chief steps up to the first one. "Well, what is your choice?"

"...I'll take juju, whatever it is."
A gigantic roar comes from the assembled tribal warriors. JUJU! He wants JUJU! Instantly, he's grabbed from his cell, stripped naked, and buggered mercilessly to chants of "JU-JU! JU-JU! JU-JU!" in full view of the remaining prisoners. One after another, all the warriors take a few thrusts buggering him. When the last warrior has had his turn, the chief tosses his pants back at him and tells him he is free to go.

The first prisoner staggers off, and the chief goes to the next one. "Well, what's your choice."

"Oh, gods, chief. Now that I know what...that...is gimme a second. Nnnnngggggg....I sure as hell don't want to die...I'll take juju."

Another thunderous roar and round of buggery broke out, this time with the village elders and the warriors-in-training joining in.

The second prisoner hobbled away, and the chief approached the third.

"So. Your turn."

"OH HELL NO, chief. I choose death."

The chief turns to the assembled warriors.

"Death."
.
.
.
"BY JUJU!"

Nonsense.

The man can't even eat a pretzel without choking half to death.

His reasoning capability as demonstrated by six years of public incoherence would barely rival that of toddler.

The man is a simpleton and unfit to hold the office to which Americans revere.

Which is why we must deal with realities. The first step is simply gaining power awat from the GOP. Without step 1 going through, nothing else matters. It's the old adage of "you have to walk before you can run".

It seems like old times on here....The "you're stoopud" reply. Liberals are as predictable as radioactive half-lives. No new ideas, no new agenda, same old shiat.....

So what is the Dhimmi-crat plan to fight Islamic Fascism?

Still promoting the appeasement method? Liberals who claim to champion the rights of women and homosexuals and atheists should be up in arms over the threat of losing to the Islamic radicals. Liberals will be the first ones under the sword when Sharia law comes to this country.

But keep telling yourself how smart you are......

Sorry guys, I just don't see how industrial pollution on the Earth can be responsible for the mean temperature increases being recorded on Mars. The Sun's heating up a little, as it's wont to do. It'll cool down again after a while, just probably not in our lifetimes. I simply don't believe that reducing greenhouse gases on the Earth is going to have more than a neglible effect on a phenomenon that's way outside our ability to control. That said, we're going to have to deal with global warming one way or another, and getting our testicles out of the firm grasp of Saudi Arabia is a laudable goal in and of itself. I just don't think we should panic, and some of the suggestions I've seen to deal with the oil crunch (i.e., slap a punitive tax on gasoline to discourage its use) would be indicative of just that, panic, and would have a disastrous effect on the economy were they to be implemented too abruptly.

No matter what you believe, the Republican Party has run this country into the ground during the last 8 years. Sad, when a president signs his very first veto 6 years into a 8 year stint and it's over something important like funding stem cell research. I guess all those pork barrel projects are more important than finding ways to improve or extend life.
I'm a Libertarian but I would vote for Gore if he ever decides to run. It takes more than one man to change the world although that is where it begins.

Anytime someone has to resort to cute little name calling, you know they have no argument.

What is the republican plan? Create a civil war in Afghanistan? Check. Create a civil war in Iraq? Check. Create thousands and thousands more jihadists? check. Heck of a plan there.
