Well, I obviously got away with murdering that one bookie who wouldn't pay up when I told him "all of it" on France surrendering in the World Cup. I see no merit in his argument, though.

\Nothing to see here

Surprise, if you sell yourself as "SIN" city folks might act a fool.

2006-07-27 01:55:51 PM
It does kind of seem like they are encouraging people to behave differently than they would at home.

2006-07-27 02:12:23 PM
I blame it on Rainbow Six.

Listen, if killing a stripper and burying her body out in the desert is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

We need to keep order, maintenance, (keep) crime in check, make sure people play within the rules. people come, empty their pockets and then scuttle off.

Fixed that for you

2006-07-27 02:14:21 PM
What happened to the image Vegas was pushing a few years ago, of the new "family friendly" Las Vegas?

2006-07-27 02:14:28 PM
"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"... yeah I can see that being a bit negative. But hey, the city isn't exactly built on the grandest of moral platforms.

And really, if "what happens in Vegas" is a dead hooker you need to take her the fark out of Vegas and bury her in the desert if you want to get away with it. Stupid slogan.

2006-07-27 02:15:36 PM

I see that "Florida stupid" really is contagious.

2006-07-27 02:19:52 PM
So how many cities is Las Vegas?

2006-07-27 02:20:49 PM
What crimes?

I'm guessing prostitution, drugs, & Drunk driving?

Easy. Legalize it, legalize it, and not a lot you do about the last one.

2006-07-27 02:21:20 PM
Why hasn't anyone shat upon submitter for using "cities" instead of "city's"?

2006-07-27 02:23:54 PM
Dammit, are there no mods who know how to spell, punctuate, or use correct grammar today??!? My brain hurts from these horrible headlines! What is going on?!?!??!

spleef420: this isn't Outback Steakhouse.

Because Outback actually doesn't have rules?

2006-07-27 02:25:41 PM
Benue: So how many cities is Las Vegas?

North Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and Boulder City

that'd make five. Four with their own police departments.

2006-07-27 02:26:37 PM
snikrepkire, you obviously missed the BIG farkING PICTURE.

If your gonna be a grammer nazi, atleast check the thread to see if someone beat ya to the punch

Vegas was WAY better when the mob ran the city.

2006-07-27 02:29:14 PM
spleef420, does vegas have an outback?

And don't act suprised when Vegas gets portrayed ina negative light. It isn't called sin city for nothing. And it could be worse, it could be Reno

2006-07-27 02:31:35 PM
I had a billboard right down the street from my house that said in big letters "I joined a threesome" then in the bottom right hand corner was a small Las Vegas symbol. That was the entire billboard, blue background with the words "I joined a threesome". I was surprised they were allowed to get away with that...

2006-07-27 02:32:22 PM
city's!!

2006-07-27 02:33:56 PM
Ogie Oglethorpe: I'm guessing prostitution, drugs, & Drunk driving?

Easy. Legalize it, legalize it, and not a lot you do about the last one.

They could raise the limit to something not completely bat shiat insane. Do it and watch your DUI rate plummet.

2006-07-27 02:33:58 PM
submitter here and I just shiat on myself for using cities instead of city's. Give me a break. I went to a Georgia public school.

2006-07-27 02:35:11 PM
"What happened to the image Vegas was pushing a few years ago, of the new "family friendly" Las Vegas?"

"Family friendly" isn't as profitable as "pure decadence".

I love going to Vegas for a few days. The flights going in have people reading their "how to beat the house" books, and the flights leaving have people wondering how they'll keep their house.

2006-07-27 02:37:08 PM
spleef420: I swear to god I'll slap the piss out of ANYONE that actually believes this shiat.

So will I. Mr. Vassiliadis needs to change this stupid slogan. I get it from people all the time since I'm from LV. "You can do whatever you want there, huh?" they always ask.

Yes, Publikwerks, we have SEVERAL Outbacks. Yes, the Sin City thing does playon people's minds and we set it up that way. Family friendly went away when they realized that young people will empty their bank accounts just to be able to go home and say "Oooh...we spent 500 bucks at Light! We're cool!"

2006-07-27 02:44:37 PM
Simply put...

They know they make money off people behaving badly. They have an INDUSTRY BUILT AROUND THE IDEA. They openly publicize the idea of doing things in Vegas you would NEVER do at home. Then they are shocked when people do things in Vegas that, dare I say it, THEY WOUDN'T DO AT HOME!

If you want a nice tidy orderly law abiding city then don't bill yourself as the sleazy No-tell Motel of vacation destinations.

i was surprised after committing around 40 felonys and murdering hundreds that i was arrested EVEN THOUGH i was out of vegas city limits.

Vegas is a great city... We are just getting all the fark ups from Cali that are ruining it for everyone...

I think people really believe the slogan while driving around. They completely forget the laws of driving once they enter the city limits.

As one of these California Fark ups let me apologize on behalf of my bretheren. I make the trip about twice a year. I love Vegas. I am appalled at all the UCLA, USC, etc frat boys that treat your town like their own personal Sodom and Gammorah (sp). Yes the rules are a bit more "relaxed" in Vegas but it is no excuse for being a total Asshat. If you are getting in trouble there you have some serious social development to do.People need to realize that yes, Vegas is a blast but it is not a vehicle for breaking the law. That's what Atlantic City is for.

\Going to Vegas next weekend
\\ I will be drunk and debaucherous
\\\I will also be respectful of others cities (city's)

with that attitude you're welcome in my city anytime.

just make sure that San Diego heatwave doesn't follow you, we've got it bad enough already. ;)

No, No, NO- keep bashing it. Get the word out, kids. Vegas sucks. Go home.
Let's give it back to the Mormons... or, better yet, let LA annex us as a suburb and the vortex of suck will finally complete itself.

wow...you really are bitter.

Pretty vague article. He mentions lots of night clubs, so I'm assuming he's referring to drugs. Easy fix: legalize. Massively increase tourism and have a nice showdown with the Federal government. Soon it will be as clean and happy as Amsterdam!

2006-07-27 03:41:14 PM
When you legalize gambling, crime goes up. Anyone who has ever played Sim City 2000 can tell you about that.

/Ric Romero could probably tell you that too

2006-07-27 03:44:35 PM
I think every public image of Vegas was a lie. There's no hot chicks in vegas. Even the prostitutes on the billboards aren't good looking. Everyone is fat, old, and white. I was pretty annoyed when I got there and saw how gross it was.

I didnt bother going to any nightclubs. I'm pretty sure a club filled with tourist douchebags is easily the worst ever, no matter how 'exclusive' they try to be. Mostly I ended up walking around, drinking, and looking at buildings.

The best part of Vegas is you can smoke and drink anywhere. But if you want real decedance, go somewhere without a stupid tourist population. Better parties, better food, better culture, better drugs.

vanity

the Strip is the worst part of this town. try going off the strip and you'll find Vegas to be much more interesting that you think. It's not like TJ or NOLA where you're going to get rolled if you walk a half block off the strip.

I didnt bother going to any nightclubs.

and yet you seem to know for a fact that it's going to be full of "tourist douchebags"?

Vegas is a helluva lot more than a ten mile stretch of hookers and donkey shows...try going to a locals casino before you slam the entire city.
