I've never figured that one out. If I ever see him again, I'll ask him. His full name is Richard Allen Lehmkuhl. Most cadets called him Lehmkuhl. It's a military thing. His friends, includingg me, called him Rick. He didn't hide his sexuality from me, so I have to think I was pretty close to his inner circle, if not in it. He came out to me his junior or senior year, after I'd left the AFA. He was drunk and didn't remember it. He came out again when I went to graduation.
It went something like this, at 90MPH up I-25:
Rick (drunk): I'm gay!
Me (drunk): Yeah Rick, you told me on the phone a year ago. I kinda figured it out three years ago when you were talking about blowing Some Guy, in 25th Squadron, to Rachel.
Rick (drunk): I'm gay!
