Correct me if I'm wrong, but here in Kansas I believe the age of consent was lowered to 32 years old. I could be mistaken.

That is correct. No sex with women from Kansas who are older than 32... because they look like they're 50. At least that's my rule.

This sounds like a sane decision on SC's part. I, as a yankee, applaud them.

The fact that this story was greenlit with a headline having nothing to do with the fact that you can be SENTANCED TO DIE WITHOUT KILLING ANYONE or COMMITING ANY TREASON... boggles my mind. Sick farked up crime? Yes, no doubt. Desirves a HUGE HUGE punishment... but death, no. No you farkin vengeful bloodthirsty cockhats, that's the wrong farkin direction.

If it wasn't for a possible trade imbargo that would cut my supply line of Maurices BBQ sauce I'd like to kick South Carolina right out of the union.

Huzzah, this bill is great. FINALLY a law that doesn't try to infantilize teenagers by claiming everyone under the age of 18 is a toddler. Child predators are most definitely different from adolescent predators, as is the damage they cause. They should be treated differently under the law as well.

Fantastic. Teens 14 and up can have sex with their peers...but they can't get birthcontrol without their parents consent until 18.

Gotta love that.

did I miss something that states that the prosecution has no right to view each case individually? What moron prosecutes teenage boys for farking teenage girls? Like changing the law matters to anyone when they are young, and horny!!

Actually, the whole state has Blue Laws but Charleston County is an exception. The state legislature knew better than to prevent the sale of alcohol in Charleston at any point in time.

this is wrong, sort of. Greenville, Spartanburg, Aiken, Columbia do not have blue laws....sort of. Aiken sells beer on sundays, in stores and restaurants. in spartanburg its only restaurants, in greenville i think it may just be restaurants also. Columbia is restaurants only also i believe. either way, the point is that more places than just charleston serve/sell alcohol on sunday.

I was speaking more towards the store-type thing, not restaurants and bars. I know Aiken has stores selling on Sundays, mainly because it's close to Georgia. The Rock Hill area may have the exception too, due to its proximity to Charlotte.

This post deserves the "Hero" tag. Its a common-sense issue.

No, I don't/don't wanna fool around with 14 year olds.

Teenagers have sex.

Get used to it.

The few 14 y/os I knew when I was 15 sure as hell knew what their ass was for and knew how to use it in the most debauched ways.

And after a bit of research it would appear that the proposed bill is to raise it to 16, not 18

That's a hero tag right there.

/There is only one 'c' in consent.

Prosecutors can seek a death sentence for a repeat sex offender when the victim is under age eleven. But it also allows people age 18 and under to avoid maximum penalties if the other person is 14, down from 16. The provision was added to avoid severe penalties for young people experimenting with sex.

The line between South Carolina and Saudi Arabia is starting to get noticeably slimmer.

Hey, they decoupled it from the age of consent, and even tied it to a reasonable age (11 is generally pre-pubescent). Works for me, actually.

I am with Sloth DC on this one. Is that what seperates us from Salem, and Saudi Arabia? That we don't kill pedophiles? Well, seems like they have the right idea on this one. Someone get me a damn turban, quick. Oh, and a harem too while we're at it.

And it sounds like you're absolutely determined to fark them up by teaching them to either A) Fear sex or B) Not trust you. 14-year-olds and up experiment with sex. You're gonna be a lot happier in the long run if you accept that fact and teach your daughters to have the self-confidence to make good decisions and stand by them.

Sure. Sounds good, then you follow it to the logical conclusion. Pedophile = unpopular minority - NOW. What later? In Saudi - they have religous laws set down 1,500 years ago to curb their enthusiasm for witch hunting. In South Carolina they have a democratic senate. Some how I have more faith in Saudi's ability to restrain itself.

How long before 'loose women' are banned from showing their hair in public?

Depending on how many Pink Squirrels I get into, I may be persuaded to prove the veracity of my hair color, then go into complete denial about it later. Being I am an adult - no harm no foul, unless of course this sort of behaviour becomes indicative of some syndrome that entails 'retraining'.

I think Florida beat us to it

South Dakota threatens a 10-year prison term for "copulation by means of mouth." Utah has made this same act a misdemeanor. There, oral sex brings a six-month jail term and a $299 fine. Rhode Island labels it an "'abominable, detestable crime against nature," and such activity brings a seven-to-10-year stretch in the penitentiary. It is outlawed in New Mexico where participation is punishable by a $5,000 fine and a two-to-10-year sentence. Florida chastises with a 20-year prison sentence those who take part in this act.

OR

In the State of Florida, common law prohibits sexual intercourse unless it is in the missionary position

I found it on the Internets so it MUST be true!

Sloth_DC: Hmm, good point.

I'm telling you man - I have no idea why but this place is starting to slip back into Dark ages logic. False Dichotomies and expedient solutions to issues that require too much thought. The whole outing 'sex offenders' on the internets is just as excuse to bring back 'shunning'. These were all fantastic ideas that pandered to peoples base understandings and knee-jerk reactions. Fucj this puritanical bullshiat, man. I be an arteest. We eat shiat right after the intellectuals do, and usually about the same time the homersexuals start getting tagged for 'observation'. Hey - Tom Cruise was ahead of his time. fark psychiatry and all those nebulous 'pretend' sciences. He knows whats best goddamnit because he read the whole thing!
