The church held a party for Hargrove's 105th birthday, and he sang for the congregation. A few weeks later the congregation presented him with an album of photos from the event. He recently brought it to the bowling alley.

My grandpa does something like that. He went blind from macular degeneration about 20 years ago. My grandma (RIP) would only have to move him through a room and tell him about obstacles once and he'd jot it to memory. He told me that he makes something like a map in his head and then feels a familiar spot on a wall or something else, and can figure out where he's at.

That impresses me. He refuses to use a stick when he doesn't actually need one.

Although I do wonder what happens when he loses the TV remote..being a man, it's unavoidable. One time I lost the TV remote and spent two minutes looking for it, when it was in my hand the entire time.
