Huh? You sound like an idiot with that comment. The writer-director-producer of the documentary is quoted as saying

"I'm very sorry to say he declined twice," Tatge said. "It's really a shame. I really tried, and I really am sorry because everyone else [said yes] and I've got an amazing group of people. They're all there, and everyone was very happy to do this."

The difference between Dan Rather and Walter Cronkite is that Cronkite understood the evening news broadcast was about the stories, not about the anchor.

Got Nuthin? Attack the source.

Oh. Are we turning this into a left vs. right thing? Because, although I'm a registered Democrat, I don't see anything I need to defend or justify.

Yeah. I kinda saw that. And then you had your own comeback. So is Rather's alleged huge ego and assholish personality a partisan issue?

Agreed.

It's also fairly well known that Cronkite thinks Dan Rather is an asshole.

Dan Rather is a poopyhead.
Cronkite is a journalist. Ever watch his reports from battlefields in WWII?

If I could find the source of "floor-humping" I'd attack it without mercy.

Dan Rather is more of an activist, than a poopyhead - When his job was supposed to be a Journalist. In essence, Dan Rather is a "Liberal Floor-Humper." Most people don't take Newsmax seriously ( for good reason ) and they should also dismiss Dan Rather for the same reason.*

Walter Cronkite, on the other hand, is just plain Batshieat crazy because he thinks that Karl Rove set up bin Laden to release a videotaped message. ( In supposed reference the New York Time's "al Qaqaa explosive dump" story that John Kerry attempted to use against Bush before the election. )

*During a closed-circuit teleconference of CBS affiliates in 1993, President Clinton appeared on screen to congratulate Mr. Rather on his new evening-news partnering with Connie Chung. Dan Rather responded: "Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you. If we could be one-one-hundredth as great as you and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been together in the White House, we'd take it right now and walk away winners."

the_gospel_of_thomas, normally I understand your posts. In this thread, though, I have absolutely no idea what you're on about.

I am sure the people at CBS will be able to come up with something.

Some people are upset that Tony Snow is the press secretary for George Bush, that somehow this is 'proof' that FOX news is biased ( because he used to host the Sunday morning political discussion show on FOX, ) despite the fact that George Stephanopoulos who used to work for Bill Clinton now hosts the Sunday morning show on ABC.

Dan Rather was and is a political Partisan. Walter Cronkite is pretty much as well, but I would say that his ability to remain neutral, and not slant broadcasts as much as Rather ( despite his activism during Vietnam. ) Again, his job as journalist or news reader is not to introduce his own views into the broadcast.

/anyone who is familiar with the political threads knows about the "Floor-Humper" banner ads that are used against any linked article from Newsmax.

The man was 88 when he made those comments, he gets the benefit of the doubt from me, due to his body of work. It will be fascinating to see what your posts on Fark are like when you are also 88 years of age.

I too, believe that Karl Rove is a totally unscrupulous man, just as Walter does, I just won't go as far as to make accusations I cannot support.

I think Dan Rather has been licking those toads down
in Texas that induce hallucinations.

For years.

Mark my words: in 5 years we'll be hearing about
Dan Rather's body being found dessicated and dead
in his Texas ranch, surrounded by survivalist gear
and TV's running FOX News.

False but accurate.

Rather is and always was a clown. This is the guy who walked out of the studio in protest when a tennis match went long leaving the network to broadcast shots of his empty chair. If CBS had any integrity at all they would have fired Danny boy on the spot. But no they let him come back and be a buffon for almost TWENTY more years.

You or I puull that crap our bosses clean out our cubicles. Pull that crap as a big time anchor -- no repercussions what so ever.

Rather is a joke.
Always has been.
