Let's go Red Sox!!!

2006-06-27 03:54:29 PM
It's a little early to start calling the Red Sox a World Series lock, especially with the way Detroit is playing. As for the Mets not finding a way to fark it up, I'll believe that when I see it.

Mets vs. Red Sox?! Preposterous! Now the team that I root for, the Cleveland Indians, now THEY.... ....oh wait.

Nevermind.

In ought-four, everyone claimed redemption for Bill Buckner, but only throwing out the first pitch during a Sox/Mets Series in which the Sox win will truly save the man.

Go Sox!

Red Sox are not going to be in the WS, silly subby.

They'll be lucky to make it out of a divisional series.

ROFL. The Red Sux won't even make the playoffs this year.

C'mon Yankee fans, admit it. Y'all are rooting for the METS tonight, ain'tcha?

It's okay, you can admit it. Maybe you'll even like it. Bwah, hah, hah, hah!

That's really nice of them to help the Red Sox hold it up, but they won't need the help.

Ain't no contest baby. With our rotation in shambles, we're still tops in the NL. When Alay Soler, El Duque, and Trachsel can get wins, then you know your team is hot.

Keep living in that fantasy land you call "Boston wins '06 World Series" and realize that the Tigers are taking it all this year.

Considering your team has gone 1-2 against the Red Sox, 1-3 against the Yankees, and a whopping 1-5 against the White Sox, why don't you wait until they actually beat someone meaningful before laying on the smack talk.

The Mets thank you for spit polishing their trophy.

Seeing as none of those teams are meaningful right now, I guess I shal say, no worries.

But let me guess, the Royals, whom Detroit is 8-0 against this season, are meaningful.

Bwah, hah, hah, hah, hah! I look forward to seeing your first round exit this year.

Yeah, only a great fool would measure his team against the teams they might play in the postseason.

Aaaaaannnnnnnndddddd....that's the Apocalypse. Good night folks, nice knowing you all.

Detroit sucks.

That is all.

2006-06-27 05:58:23 PM
I'll be very happy if the Mets can take two of three. This is a brutal road trip, and while two of three in Fenway will be tough, it would earn them all SORTS of respect (especially considering how the NL is giving it up in interleague play; the Mets' strength of schedule has taken a nosedive in the past week or two as all of the previously decent NL teams they've played have been shiatting the bed).

2006-06-27 06:00:51 PM
The storyline is inescapable?

Here's another inescapable storyline: The novelty of interleague play wore off about eight years ago, and all it does is further unbalance divisional schedules.

I find the '86 world series storyline funny ("red sox look to settle the score" and what not)... as if anybody on either team gives a shiat what happened in 1986.

Considering the annual September Slide of the Red Sox hasn't come around yet (hint: because it's June), rumors of the Red Sox winning the American League have been greatly exaggerated by subby.

2006-06-27 06:41:04 PM
Milledge in LF, haplo? I suppose everyone needs a trial by fire playing the wall, but I hope Milledge is ready.

LET'S GO METS! :)

2006-06-27 06:45:43 PM
The Red Sox are going to need some help if they want to win the A.L. East. Beckett needs to be more consistent, they need to score more runs for Wakefield (IMO the best sub .500 pitcher in baseball ATM), and Lester needs to prove he is for real. Oh and our bullpen (outside of Papelbon and Timlin) need to stop TRYING to lose games! Take away Paps and Timlin and the bullpen has an ERA WAY over 5! The overall team ERA is 4.65 ... not good.

Our hitting is just fine, thank you. No complaints there.

Be Warned!:
The Yankees have had countless injuries and are only 2.5 back from us ... if that doesnt worry you then you don't know the Red Sox quite like I do. Remember that they are getting back some key players late in the season and that Steinbrenner will just buy the shiniest player available on the market to help their run.

Get excited, cheer them on, hate on NY! Bask in this winning streak. I know I am/will be. Just don't go getting crazy before July has even gotten here.

BTW, the Tigers are pretenders. They can't hang with the A.L . elite. Good for them not being terrible anymore but they are not World Series material yet.

True. But realistically you have to look at these teams when the Mets played them. Arizona got off to a great start and were hot until they met the Mets. Atlanta and Philly didn't take a dive until June after really hot months of May as well.

Bottom line though, the Mets have an even or winning record against EVERY team they've faced this year except St. Louis (1-2) and Baltimore (1-2). And that's pretty impressive.

Would be nice to see 4-2 over the next six games though. :)

milledge is a good fielder in general, he's a righty (endy's a lefty, as is lester), and I'd venture a guess that he faced lester several times in the eastern league. I agree; it *is* a trial by fire, but he still makes the most sense out there.

2006-06-27 06:58:33 PM
Here's hoping that my Jays keep it close

Ah, good point. Hadn't thought of that. Hope he liked what he saw. :)

Aw, no leadoff hit for Reyes tonight. I guess all streaks must come to an end.

2006-06-27 07:19:21 PM
World Series preview? Please. The White Sox are clearly the best team in the league. And the Red Sox better hope they can hold off the Yankees, since the wildcard is not coming from that division.

2006-06-27 07:21:32 PM
Still over a month away from the All-Star break.

Bah.

Chances are better at this point that 2 OTHER teams will be in the series!

2006-06-27 07:21:33 PM
Woof. This bodes ill...

2006-06-27 07:27:07 PM
When I said "over a month away" I really meant "two weeks away". Still, a significant amount of time.

Don't count out the Cardinals, A's, Tigers, Jays, or even the Tankees before the season's halfway over.

Or even some other team. Don't forget what Houston did recently.

2006-06-27 07:27:11 PM
I don't think I'm the only one who's sick of the Red Sox/Yankee aristocracy in the AL. Come September everyone will be watching the AL Central gun it out.

2006-06-27 07:28:24 PM
"And a ground ball trickling ...it is a fair ball! It gets by Buckner! Rounding third is Knight. The Mets will win the ballgame. They win!"
