What is "the OC"? Is it like the OJ?

2006-06-22 11:41:24 PM
R. Scott Moxley is probably the best weekly investigative writer here in Orange County. His coverage of the Haidl gang rape trial was outstanding.

In response to the last crime on the list, the answer is "Why not?"

2006-06-23 01:08:41 AM
From the Article:

Two 17-year-olds smoked marijuana inside a church.

A man went door-to-door asking residents if they've seen Jesus.

A woman lay down on her apartment balcony, screamed, cried and knocked over furniture.

A man locked himself in his bedroom for three weeks in order to kill himself, emerging only to buy liquor.

A man walked up to a woman, said, "Good morning," and then exposed himself.

An obese, 5-foot-4-inch man robbed a Carl's Jr.

A man took off his clothes and drove away in a black Camaro.

Two eighth-grade students smoked marijuana as they walked down a street.

This had to have been the slowest news week evar to get these stories from news and police accounts

2006-06-23 01:09:39 AM
Three men fought in the street, finished, put their shirts on and then ate lunch together at Panda Express.

Eating at Panda Express is still totally legal in the midwest, although not recommended.

i dunno how a show set in southern New York state is this popular. i wiki'd the place up and it looks boring as hell aside from that motorcycle show on discovery channel.

2006-06-23 01:10:43 AM
Orange county is really boring...we used to call it the Orange Curtain because everything closes at 8 PM...

2006-06-23 01:12:06 AM
"A man shot a neighbor's dog with a rifle."

You dogs wants a bullet proof vest?

poonie: This had to have been the slowest news week evar to get these stories from news and police accounts

Either that, or they're summaries for Monty Python sketches that didn't make the cut.

WHY?

At least they aren't just wasting their lives watching the OC on TV, they are really out living it!

The OC lets me get WILD!!!

2006-06-23 01:17:30 AM
home sweet home for 43 years...god i hate living here...and believe it or not this is nothing...check ocsd.org and scroll down to e-services and look at the police log...

/phun place the oc

2006-06-23 01:19:06 AM
A man holding a black bag screamed at an unoccupied school building for 35 minutes.

A drunk man hid in a lady's bushes and moaned.

A man wearing a red bucket over his head and somehow driving a van stopped near a 12-year-old girl and said, "You're hot!"

Someone spray painted "Why?" onto a car.

I lol'ed at each of these.
For about 5 minutes apiece, especially the first one.
...shut up!

/blame the maryjane.

Cause and effect, no?

It is sort of funny that here in Republican Orange County, we have one of the leftist newspapers in the country. And I intentionally use the work leftist instead of liberal. They are pretty far to the left, although they are also really the only place to get news on local music and such. Fortunately, the main newspaper, the Orange County Register is proudly libertarian, at least in their editorial department.

juser2599 Orange county is really boring...we used to call it the Orange Curtain because everything closes at 8 PM...

Let me guess: you don't live anywhere near Orange County, never even seen it, and are just repeating stuff you've heard on the Internet.....

2006-06-23 01:21:46 AM
asking people if theyve seen jesus is a crime?

2006-06-23 01:22:45 AM
And Ryan was responsible for all of them.

/no-good punk kid

2006-06-23 01:25:36 AM
Bookman,

I lived in Dana Point for 10+ years. Orange County is BORING. Let me guess, you live in Santa Ana which is right up there with Yorba Linda...

2006-06-23 01:32:27 AM
Heh, I grew up in Yorba Linda. Land of Gracious living my ass... well maybe if you are a blue hair... 99 till this past January living in orange and had a blast but that was because I went to college there. Now I live in San Diego. WTF was I doing living in OC. Booring is right. There are some bright spots, but everything is a 20 minute drive at the very least. I live ON the beach in San Diego and pay less than I was paying for a 1 bedroom apartment in the city of Orange, there are 10 bars within walking distance, 3 night clubs, and downtown is 5 minuts away.

I will say this though. There are some hot ass biatches in OC and MILFs. Just don't expect them to say anything intelligent. Honestly, they sound the best when they've got your cock shoved down their throat. They just expect you to drive a BMW or a Benz for the privilege.

That was such a witch hunt. Haidl must of pissed someone off. Girl bangs everyone at the party, passes out, guys inserts pool cue and video tapes it. Not rape to me.

2006-06-23 01:36:33 AM
Lokni, PB local here...SD is much better than OC. You must be a CSF grad...I came to SD for school too and never left.

Amen to that. That Haidl case was sickening, and I'm surprised that it didn't get prominent national coverage. (Maybe not.) I'm just glad that Greg Haidl punk eventually got what he deserved.

It just seem leftist because your so far to the right.

/Grew up in Brea in the eighties.

Someone fired a gun at the beach.

Did they hit it?
or
don't people typically fire bullets?

A man locked himself in his bedroom for three weeks in order to kill himself, emerging only to buy liquor.

I want to party with him.

MR_DING

Does having consenusal sex before having non-consensual sex excuse someone from using a pool cue and a smoldering cigarette to penetrate someone?

/come on

2006-06-23 01:49:43 AM
MR_DING: Come on. The OC Weekly does even pretend to be anything but leftist, and very self-rightously so.

And for those who say Orange County is too boring, it depends what you are looking for. For me, road biking and mountain biking are my primary hobbies. I can't imagine another big city where there are incredible trails (both paved and dirt) basically right out my front door.

2006-06-23 01:50:03 AM
Prosecutors said a middle school teacher was "grooming" her 14-year-old student for sex.

so close to being a FARK cliche

2006-06-23 01:51:30 AM
<sarcasm>
Ah, home sweet home. I wonder why I ever left.
</sarcasm>

Three teens stole a 30-pack case of beer from a store.

Someone dumped a clothes dryer in the middle of the road at night.

I suspect those 2 are related...

2006-06-23 01:52:32 AM
I grew up, spent 15 years in laguna niguel. you OC sucks.
Although it has the best mountain biking in the state.
I know what you all are thinking and let me say, I've riden whereever you arte going to mention.
dana sux too.

Plenty of night life. Try downtown Fullerton. 20 plus bars and restaurants within walking distance. And its a college town. Or downtown Huntington Beach. Lots of cool bars and restaurants, stores, movies right on the beach. And the pier too.

Uchiha_Cycliste:

Goddamn. Have the public schools gotten that bad? I'm pretty sure the majority of my ('97) high school class could at least put together a coherent sentence. And that includes the kids who showed up to school stoned or cut class to surf.

2006-06-23 02:07:48 AM
As a native and lifetime resident, I proclaim Orange County to be wonderful in most ways -- but the OC Weekly is not one of them. The movie reviews can be amusing and 1 in about 24 articles is written to professional journalistic standards, but mostly it revels in a kind of bogus, self-congratulatory "underground" attitude that is more embarrassing than anything else.

Downtown Fullerton is quite nice -- it's one of the few of the older OC cities that bothered to preserve its old downtown. It will be nicer when the old Fox Theatre re-opens.

They have in fact gotten that bad, but to be honest with you just started riding 40 miles a day, with a headwind both ways mind you over dumbarton, because driving to work was killing sy soul. am too exhausted to speak englich coherently, and I cant fark at work appareently so i get in what I can before I sleep. You should actually feel pity, i miss fark so very much.
\if i was half awake this be gooder
\\possibly drunkened too

I know after a rousing fight club with the mates, Panda Express is the perfect place to reflect and eat sesame chicken.

2006-06-23 03:52:08 AM
ya, lived through HB in the eighties. i ain't seen nothing but poseurs posting so far.

after i left the OC, i saw copies of the johnny-come-lately OC weekly and its great pull quotes - my favorites accompanied an ethnic food story "Inside each of us is a mexican who loves a good burrito" and "One thing about those germans, they make a good sandwich."

the county is so far right, that passes for leftist.

i call bullshiat. OC life is not the life so free.

2006-06-23 04:10:15 AM
*sighs* Makes me wonder why I ever left. I mean, how can you possibly feel threatened by anything if someone screaming at an empty building is news?

2006-06-23 04:39:02 AM
Prosecutors said a middle school teacher was "grooming" her 14-year-old student for sex.

That means she shaved his nuts??? or just getting him prepped by mind farking him.

2006-06-23 04:40:06 AM
I've lived in Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Tustin, Newport Beach and Garden Grove and the worst part of Orange County is how expensive it is to live here. It's not nearly as boring as everyone makes it out to be. north county has it's ghetto's and south county is almost all planned communities, but there's still plenty of fun to be had. There are plenty of people that live up to the OC cliches, but they are so easy to ignore. It's kind of like a Los Angeles county with less people (and no Antelope Valley), and San Diego county with less open land.

"A group of men tossed a dead body into a trash dumpster. "

fly tipping is such a terrible crime

//also, kind of reminds me of invasion of the body snatchers

"Someone fired a gun at the beach."

question: did he hit the beach, if so is it okay

"A man holding a black bag screamed at an unoccupied school building for 35 minutes."

Funniest part of the list

"A drunk man hid in a lady's bushes and moaned."
no comment needed for that one.

/farkers who have been here a while will remember...

Don't call it that.

I'm glad the 'rents had the good sense to leave. Too bad they didn't have enough sense to keep them from moving to Alabama.

...when that victim is completely unconscious and urinating on herself?
