Come on... this is begging for the ASININE tag!

2006-06-13 10:06:29 PM
He was upset and weepy, and then later suffered migraines and nightmares and had a fear of answering the phone after he was sworn at, intimidated and branded a disgrace to his work team, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal was told.

The abuse that helped trigger a psychiatric disorder included one superior telling him to "park your little arse in that chair".

That is bizarre.

Out of curiosity, though, how many of you would let your boss say "sit your ass down" (not something cute like "park your little arse in that chair") without getting in his/her face about it?

/they don't pay me nearly enough to take that quietly

2006-06-13 10:21:29 PM
Which is why acronyms STFU & GBTW work so well.

2006-06-13 10:21:59 PM
What an asshole. I hope that makes him feel bad.

2006-06-13 10:25:31 PM
He didn't say "sit your ass down", he was just trying to pronounce the guy's name.

"Sivanadian Perananthasivam has been awarded medical expenses and workers' compensation for almost three months off the job"

You have got to be kidding. How did this person ever reach adulthood?

2006-06-14 12:58:26 AM
His boss should have put him out of his misery instead.

2006-06-14 01:00:56 AM
Seriously, who ARE these people and were they raised in caves?

I just started working with a woman who didn't buy alcohol until she was 44.

2006-06-14 01:02:17 AM
Must've been raised by vegan wolves.

2006-06-14 01:03:28 AM
should have said, "winny worker wins wawsuite"

2006-06-14 01:04:23 AM
Just when I think that this country has gotten too pussified, I read something like this.

WTF?

Hurt his widdle feewings? The pansey needs to grow the fark up.

On top of that, the manager who said that to him apologised? Oh, please! What a pussy! He should have just pointed and laughed.

2006-06-14 01:05:18 AM
heh, what a little biatch. Needs a good cockpunch to cry about.

What's so weird about that, lots of people don't drink.

"But Mr Perananthasivam was a ... non-smoker not used to casual cursing."

Everyone knows that smokers are foulmouthed.

2006-06-14 01:07:52 AM
But Mr Perananthasivam was a religious teetotaller and non-smoker not used to casual cursing.

Doesn't he watch TV?

/Guess not
//probably doesn't read or hear people talk at all either

But Mr Perananthasivam was a religious teetotaller and non-smoker not used to casual cursing.

Doesn't he watch TV?

He heard language so foul as to give the Queen a case of the vapours?
It'd be nice if society was more civil, but I doubt any person in it is surpised right now.

Aulus: Just when I think that this country has gotten too pussified, I read something like this.

You think about Australia enough to have that opinion?

2006-06-14 01:12:11 AM
why should he complain? the boss did, afterall, say "little arse". most parts of the US officially qualify for "fat arse". we should all be so lucky to be called "little arse".

2006-06-14 01:15:21 AM
What a faggit

2006-06-14 01:25:33 AM
Well, if he got cussed out once and broke down, then he's a pusssy. If he was cussed out every day for ten years, and got it worse than other workers, it's different.

But is it abuse to brand someone a disgrace to the team, even if it's true?

The wierd part is that a woman was buying alcohol at all. Usually they just stand next to a gullible looking guy and he buys it for her.

And that is what religion does to youmedia.libsyn.com

Number41, no, perhaps I should have bee more clear. Just when I think that the USA has gotten too pussified, I read this. IOW, it's sad to find out that even Aussies are wussing out.

Now sit your whiney ass down and shut the fark up.

I hope he reads this thread, and crys when I call him a biatch. Sorry biatch, that's just what you are. A lame little girl biatch, who throws like a duck.

shiate. wtf is happening to my country?

2006-06-14 01:48:18 AM
This all depends on the nature of the interpersonal relationship the employee and boss had. It sounds to me that it was most likely inappropriate. Having not rtfa, I have no idea what award was given, nor do I care. I will say this: If a boss with whom I am not familiar says that to me, they will be paying me...but not emotional damages, etc...they will be paying for the resulting wrongful termination.

$ Pound signs suck ass.
** So do dollar signs.

/wait, what?

timelady: Happening?

2006-06-14 02:38:00 AM
HOLY SHIAT! I wish I'd known I could do that with my last job!

My boss and manager, being nice fellows, harassed me and other employees on a daily basis. I was accused of goofing off, of laying up drunk when I was actually out with pneumonia, yelled at in front of everyone and basically let know what a shiat I was. ('Course I'd been there 10 years.) Once I even got in a rolling argument with my supervisor where we swore at each other and nearly came to blows. The company manager accused me of mistreating a customer and we got into a swearing match.

Man! Whyinthehell do I find out all of these things I could have sued my last employer over, years after I left?

My last boss (a real religious kind of guy and a lay preacher at his church) bragged about beating the krap out of one of his employees who gave him krap at another station. Then he had his manager teach us how to lie on our schedules and tracking computers to make it look like we were doing better than we were. Naturally, when shiat hit the fan from the home office, the manager promptly pointed out that the guilty driver was cheating.

Geez! I could be sitting pretty right now. I could have sued my boss and then sued the home company!

This guy is a wimp! He looks like he could handle himself in a bar fight and from his name, comes from one of those nations where guys stroll around being macho and get offended if you fart wrong.

I guess he studied the American Way real well. He'll soon be independently wealthy just off suing everyone.

(Historic Fact: Lawyers were created to settle arguments without folks settling them with swords and knives. They were also created to help prevent wars for the same reason. However, no one ever expected them to get so out of control and be directly responsible as a cause for undermining a national economy.)

2006-06-14 02:47:36 AM
Good for him ... just because you work for someone doesn't mean they can treat you like garbage. This was clearly workplace intimidation / harassment and the company is lucky all they had to pay was a few months' wages.

This isn't the middle ages: your manager can't tell you to sit your ass down, park your ass on this chair, or anything like that.

2006-06-14 02:48:40 AM
It's because his name is Sivanadian Perananthasivam. He's been getting the crap end of the stick all his life. This was just the final straw.

2006-06-14 03:05:07 AM
Can you sue somebody for causing you stress by suing you?

2006-06-14 03:27:39 AM
"Sivanadian Perananthasivam," Australian for PUSSY.

From the Readers' forum, linked to the article:

EccyMAn
Just amazing...
This article is actually just a blatant lie! According to the transcript he got NOTHING, the complaint was dismissed as having no grounds. All he got was what he was entitled to, his payout, and Telstra had already given him this; this was not awarded by the tribunal.

It amazes me that news.com.au would just print a completely fabricated article like this one...

Gotta love what the media will stoop to on a slow news day. Shame on you!

2006-06-14 03:55:43 AM
The actual findings tell you what the "bloke" was like, and specifically, Para 154 tells us that the judge told him to "suck it up, wussy".

2006-06-14 04:27:49 AM
Holy hell, I just came back from 6 months in Australia and I heard fouler language than that just walking down the street! I bet the working girls in King's Cross made him cry too. And that new "where the bloody hell are you?" tourism campaign probably induced vomitting or something. Sheesh.

Regardless of the outcome, what really surprises me is that such a frivolous lawsuit like that didn't come from the US, for once!

2006-06-14 06:48:52 AM
We should gather up some money to buy some of the freshest cremes and lotions to rub into this loser's swollen vag.

2006-06-14 07:07:01 AM
Can you sue somebody for causing you stress by suing you?

I think they'd have a better case suing him for theft of time (spent dealing with his petty complaints). This bloke seriously needs a baggage handler.

2006-06-14 07:19:04 AM
This Nancy will be out on his arse first time he screws anything up. Deservedly so.

/Be a man about it.

2006-06-14 08:09:53 AM
Thank God I'm not a civilian. I'd probably be sued every day. How does someone get so thin-skinned?

2006-06-14 08:25:40 AM
perhaps the manager used a poor choice of words,
but why did he HAVE to tell the guy to sit in his chair?
manager: hey, get back to work!
naganaworkhere: stop abusing me!

i was a shift supervisor and a couple of the ladies would stop working to talk to eachother. once, when i had just quit smoking, i very calmly told them to stop talking and get back to work. they told me i needed a cigarette because i was being an asshole. i told them they should talk to my boss if they really thought my behavior was a problem. they thought about it, and realized they would look really stupid, so they STFU and GBTW.

i am curious about what originally happened in the article. i can't imagine a manager actually saying, "park your little arse in that chair" on the very first occasion; that sounds like something you say to a problem employee. but i don't speak australian.

Thanks. That report shows what restraint this little twerp's managers and co-workers showed in their dealings with him. I'm sure I'd have strangled the "lazy prick" long ago.

PU$$Y

2006-06-14 08:58:11 AM
The jury punished the boss for being an ass. They probably hated Mr. Perananthasivam as much as you do. But they really, really hated the boss and the business culture, so the company got punished. Lightly, I might add.

Good for the jury, I say. They stuck it to the man.

The boss shouldn't have said these things, even if everything was true.

People, read the linked report. The guy got nothing but fired. He had been a total asshole for years and it's only through the wonderful employee protection programs he kept his job for as long as he did. He's a stubborn, obstinate and lazy S.O.B.

2006-06-14 09:45:04 AM
Brokken Frepz's link is a much more interesting read. The employee was a sniveling weasel straight out of the Office. He wasn't doing his job, then was complaining that is managers were asking him to do his job. If comments like "sit your ass down" are the pinnacle of your harrassment stories, then quit your job. Especially since you refuse to talk to anyone except by e-mail.
