Can you be a victimized aggressor?

2002-06-17 05:34:30 PM
Victim. Stalin never recovered after losing power when Floridaski fell to the Comrade Republik movement.

Typingsux: In this day and age, how can one not be a victimized aggressor?

The "victim" always annexes sovereign nations after a massive world war... whether the want to be or not.

Talk about revisionist history. Stalin "prepared for war" by purging 90% of the Soviet officer corps in the mid and late 1930s. He sued for peace with Germany because he was still consolidating power. He ignored not only early warnings given of Germany's intentions but also the initial reports of the invasion itself.

I'll have to re-paraphrase the famous Russian expression "V pravdye izvestii nyet a v izvestiye pravdiy nyet" to "V pravdye pravdiy nyet."

Or maybe "V pravdye est' govno."

My alternatives in English: "There is no truth in Pravda" and "There is shiat in Pravda."

Seems like Stalin was proccupied in killing over 20 million of his own citizens also ...

2002-06-17 05:51:02 PM
Ah Stalin, starved more of his people to death with the collective farms than Hitler killed in the concentration camps. What a guy. What a legacy.

2002-06-17 05:57:28 PM
Stalin should know all about "victims"... he had more than 20 million of them.

2002-06-17 05:59:36 PM
So if Stalin was so prepared for Hitler to attack, why did he not speak to anyone and disappear from the scene for a couple of days out of apparent shock?

Animal Farm.

my russian professor suggested that Stalin was stalling for time with the non-aggression pact, and both sides didn't really expect it to last forever.

I think the biggest tragedy of WWII is the Allies refusal to continue in a war against Russia, they could have stopped the purges and tyranny that would continue for decades.

With nuclear weaponry, we would have had a decisive advantage, and protected freedom which people today discount as nothing compared to protection of lives.

Paradoxflux: The worst of the purges and terror occurred between the two World Wars. I posted this link in another thread about the U.S. and British forces occupying the two main Russian city-ports (Archangel and Murmansk) for almost 2 years after World War I ended and well after Russia had bowed out of that war.

I'd like to know what "Western Ideologists" this moron is talking about.. I have yet to see Russia portrayed as an aggressor in WWII in any mass media whatsoever. 'Course, I was in college ten years ago.. maybe there's some rogue professors out there who've been smoking something odd..

What Stalin did AFTER WWII is the issue. It's funny that someone is trying to use this angle to be an apologist for one of the most ruthless heads of state ever to darken Europe's doorstep. I shouldn't be surprised, it IS Pravda, I guess.

Now, if Monty hadn't held Patton back, it'd have been interesting to see a world without East and West Germany during the cold war.

You musta slept through those history courses Discordian, because you neglected to mention that the USSR was considered an aggressor nation before the German Invasion, primarily because of the Soviet invasion of Finland (the winter war) and the occupation of the Baltic States. In fact, England and France offered to sent military units to Finland to help them fight the "non-aggressive" Soviets, but the Finns by this point (feb 1940) had had enough, and gave Stalin what he wanted. Stalin appeared to have seriously considered joining the Axis in the fall of 1940, but Hitler wouldn't meet his price.
I guess you were maybe smoking something during your European history classes, eh?

it can be said

1. Russia state was very aggressive against neighbors 1920s and 1930s as mentioned FInland but also Poland (1920), Lithuania, Ukraine, and many others.

2. Previous to all this, Red Russia was attacked by anti-marxist coalition after ww1.

JWest: Yeltsin was strongly in favor of removing Lenin, partly because of a wish to break from veneration of the Soviet past and partly to weaken his iconic status with the Communist Party and its traditionalist followers. he never got to accomplish this while in office. I haven't heard much about Putin's take on it, other than he seems to be "in favor of it" but not strongly so as Yeltsin was.

I understand that the body will not stay preserved much longer than 2020. I guess that's when the blow up doll takes its place. Farkin creepy

I heard that Stalin's tomb was taken out of public display by Krushchev as part of his de-Stalinization.

I will say this, The Germans made a mistake by killing the civilians in Ukraine and elsewhere who welcomed Hitler as a liberator from Stalin.

Also, if it wasn't for Mussolini invading Greece and f'ing that up, Hitler would have stormed into Russia earlier and probably wiped out Soviet communism.

Now, think about that in your alternate history meetings. :)

The general did not know that the only reason why Hitler stopped beating England was not his abstract humanity at all; it was Hitler's wish to make England quit the war forever by means of signing a peace treaty with Germany.
Oh, yeah. If Hitler had not intervened, his generals would have captured about 330,000 British troops. Then he could have negotiated a treaty with the UK. what choice would Britain have had - be invaded? Hitler should have gotten out of his generals' way and let them win the war. Lucky for us he was such a paranoid.

Say what you like about Stalin, but he sure knew how to wear a hat:

2002-06-18 05:34:55 AM
And sometimes he actually wore one, as well as being able to wear one:

2002-06-18 11:14:10 AM
"The second highest ranking official of Hitler's Reich, Rudolf Hess, landed in England on parachute in May of 1940 in order to talk to the English government about signing a peace treaty with Germany."

He doesn't mention that Hess spent the rest of the war in an English prison, or that he was tried for war crimes after the war. Churchill would have rather fought to the last man than make peace with nazism.

2002-06-18 11:34:05 AM
What I see missed is that Hitler thought communism was a fad and full of fools and Stalin hated facism and dearly loathed the Nazis.

Stalin is probably the worst person to ever live. Maybe outside of Judas. He killed more people then Hitler and his goose steppers ever did.

How small is your d|ck to make you fear 20 million people?
