Where do you live where the choice is between Windsor or Toronto? I'm too close for Windsor to be a desintation for me - it's more like deciding at 9 PM that the bars at home are boring, so let's hop across the border for a few hours. Toronto's more of a plan-in-advance getaway, and damn, do I love that city. And the hostel with its own bar, but that's another 20 stories altogether.

Are you kidding? I don't understand the American system all the time (I can never remember pints/quarts/gallons and the more crazy derived units).

I was raised on metric only (my teachers SWORE we'd change in a few years)... but metric is crazy-easy to pick up. Hell, take one physics class and you should be set on metric.

Now, counting out loonies and toonies (how do you spell that, anyhow?) when you're completely trashed from legal absinthe... now, that's difficult.

There are idiots in all countries - hell, we have homegrown US terrorists (Oaklahoma City, anyone?), and India does as well. Canada did the job, and they obviously are good at keeping tabs on groups that should be watched. Somehow, I think that your plan will freakin' radicalize more than it will detur.

Some of us do know better*. Unfortunately, the media here is getting more pathetic by the day, and lobbying groups are very good at what they do, and politicians are very good at tugging on certain strings (i.e. gay marriage - oh god no!) to get people to vote straight-ticket for a party that will do them more harm than good.

I want to say enough people have been b-tch-slapped awake to the current situation, and will vote in an educated way... but I really didn't think Bush would win again, so I'm just going to bite my tongue for the time being.

* Seriously, Bush has a 30% approval rating, and every damn Aussie/Brit/Quebecois/Canadian/Kiwi I met in Toronto assumed I was for Bush because I was American. Damnit, stop generalizing Americans. The bridge and tunnel crossings between Windsor and Detroit will be over capacity no later than 2020, or something like that. It's already a pain in the ass to go across during certain hours, and back and forth I believe the cost is $7 US. Not to mention the cost of gas...

Don't know where you live, but I rarely see Canadians flocking across the way Americans used to flock across to Windsor when the Canadian dollar was at 2/3rds or less than the US.

I'll be visiting my parents in Toledo, Ohio later this summer. The wife and I were thinking where we'd like to go for a few days. Toronto is a day's drive away up the 401(??). Instead we'll just jump over the Ambassador Bridge and visit Windsor [1.5-hour drive]

Although I would say Saudi Arabia (where were the 9/11 hijackers from again?) and North Korea (how many troops do we still have on that border?) are greater threats to us at the current moment than the STATE OF Pakistan, NOT Pakistanis who may be planning terrorism.

You can find excuses in nearly any religion to do what you want, be it jihad or slavery or whatever. It's more than Pakistani Muslims, and most Muslim scholars do not agree with the interpretation of jihad (or waging any sort of violence) that the more extreme Muslims do.

Again, if you're actually advocating the use of nuclear weapons, or even hinting at such, you're a f-cking idiot dumbass.
