I think the fine may have more to do with the fact that he spoke about the case publicly when he was barred by the judge from doing just that.

a-yes, it is *a* state that keeps electing a drunk kennedy... (and unfortunately, i live in the one that's too afraid to oppose the other one)

b-not only is Lynch a douchebag, but his predecessor, the guy in the background of the pic that looks like the one from kids in the hall, makes *him* look normal. And the worst part is, the one in the background is running for senate, so we get the lovely ads on RI TV that say ::deep breath::....

He should have tried "twist and shout" instead. The judge probably would have overlooked the entire incident if he had then started belting out a tune, Ferris Bueller-style, and standers-by had joined in an impromptu (yet seemingly choreographed) dance.

Douchebag though he may be, the comments don't seem out of line at all. If there was a fine on the praising the jurors, but not the other two, I could kind of get behind how it is getting a little bit close to tampering... but this is ridonkulous.

And this lawsuit is another example of a complete waste of taxpayer money. None of the companies who were sued were linked to ANY LEAD PAINT IN RHODE ISLAND.

How the hell do you get sued for millions for lead paint in houses when no one can show that your paint is in said houses?????

Farkin' lawyers. Unbelievable. There is no such thing as a system of justice, we've just got everyone trying to win the trial lottery for money they can't or won't earn with hard work.

The legal niceties in this case are beyond me -- I can only assume the AG violated some clearly defined rules, or some the judge had set down.
