The minute I step out of that gate when I've graduated, I'm basically farked. But whatever. Life is meant to be lived.

When I stepped out of the gate it was a year after my father's stroke, after he'd been fired, and before my mother could find a job. All with my sister starting college in the fall. Oh and the fund for her education disappeared since my grandparents decided to spend the money on themselves (they didn't like how she behaved after his stroke).

Oh, and I was a history major, which is only marginally more useful than philosophy.

After 8 months of living in a basement spending days looking for jobs and traveling all over half the country I found a good job. Moved to a new city and lived in an empty apartment for a month eating ramen because I only had $38 to my name which was better than my parents who only had $7.

Being poor and facing a tough road ahead coming out of college is nothing new. Your overall future is still bright and you're in no way a part of the underclass.

Umm what jobs are available with a philosophy degree that would not be available without a degree at all? The only two paths one can take that I can think of are law school and teaching it.

Actually, he could probably get a job in my profession if his English skills are up to snuff. Shouldn't be a problem since Philosophy generally teaches you how to communicate clearly and effectively.

Against Me! "From Her Lips To God's Ears (The Energizer)"

Regime change under a Bush doctrine of democratic installations.
Constant war for constant soldiers.
What are we gonna do now?
De-escalation, through military force.
Increase the pressure, Oh Condoleeza
What should we do about the situation in Iran and North Korea?

Condoleeza.

Democratic election under Marshall law.
An Iraqi president out of control of our choices.
After all this death and destruction
Do you really think your actions advocate freedom?
The presidents giving a speech in Georgetown
To remember the voice of a slain civil rights leader,
Do you understand what the martyrs stood for?
Oh Condoleeza do you get the farking joke?

Condoleeza
Condoleeza
Condoleeza
What are we gonna do now?

Everyone criticizing my degree:
Why must my education be a means to an end? I chose philosophy because I thought that philosophy classes were the ones that were causing me to grow the most, spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually. So maybe it's not going to make employers beat down my door. So what? I can't take my job with me when I die. But hopefully, what I can take is my experiences, and what I've learned, and what kind of person I've become. Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination, you know?

For the above ridiculous detractors, they're negotiating with an english speaking country and making remarks to english press correspondents for the western press. Suggesting that they should be able to get someone who can speak english tolerably well to do that is hardly an expression of cultural intolerance.

Remember kids, when you say;
"Condoleeza Rice is incompetent in her job as Secretary of State."
That's RACISM, SEXISM and BIGOTRY

But when John Gibson says;
"Do your duty. Make more babies. That's a lesson drawn out of two interesting stories over the last couple of days.

First, a story yesterday that half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic. Why is that? Well, Hispanics are having more kids than others. Notably, the ones Hispanics call "gabachos" -- white people -- are having fewer.

Now, in this country, European ancestry people, white people, are having kids at the rate that does sustain the population. It grows a bit. That compares to Europe where the birth rate is in the negative zone. They are not having enough babies to sustain their population. Consequently, they are inviting in more and more immigrants every year to take care of things and those immigrants are having way more babies than the native population, hence Eurabia.

Why aren't they having babies? Because babies get in the way of a prosperous and comfortable modern life. Peanut butter fingerprints on the leather seats in the BMW. The Euros are particular -- in particular can't be bothered with kids. Underscore that second point.

A second story, today, reports that [Russian President] Vladimir Putin is so concerned about the declining and imploding population of Russia, he is paying couples to have babies. Imagine, procreating for cash in Mother Russia. Putin has taken this step because at the rate things are going, Russia will lose close to 45 million in population in the next 45 years. Russia will be two thirds of today's population.

This is not a good trend for Russia and it won't be here either if that should happen. To put it bluntly, we need more babies. Forget about that zero population growth stuff that my poor generation was misled on. Why is this important? Because civilizations need population to survive. So far, we are doing our part here in America but Hispanics can't carry the whole load. The rest of you, get busy. Make babies, or put another way -- a slogan for our times: "procreation not recreation."

Or when Rush Limbaugh says
"Sorry to say this, I don't think he's been that good from the get-go. I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

That's JUST AN INNOCENT OPINION.

Don't worry, czarangelus will keep you company there.

Well, that will go one of two ways:

1. John Connor will not be born
2. He will help me escape just when I needed to, and I will thank him.

We will see - maybe they can make quality programming on Fox with it. We can call it Prison Break: Gitmo (like they do with CSI and Law and Order) and we can have Peter Stormare do an accent. But who would play me? More importantly, would Brent Spiner play Czarangelus, or would the creepy cop dude from T:2?

You're feeding the troll, and a nasty troll he or she is. The "2" at the end of his or her name probably means that he or she has been banned at least once from Fark.

That doesn't even take into account the number of libraries he or she been kicked out of for abuse of their internet terminals and disturbing other patrons with his or her loud, nonsensical ramblings.

PIP_the_TROLL: Have you ever noticed that the vast majority of pictures of Bush Administration people that shows up on CNN are always those pictures which show them, mouth open, lips distended in mid-speech which looks like a grimace or a growl? Where almost all other pictures they show are nice portraiture style, with staid smiles or less aggressive lip positioning and so forth.

Apparently, the Bush junta makes funny faces when the media is sucking them off.

Sorry, milk, but troll or not... We now live in an age where even the most rediculous and hyperbolic of statements are treated as Gospel truth.

We can no longer afford to assume that such foolhardy rhetoric will crumble beneath the weight of it's own ludicrousness.

Stupidity, be it in speech, thought or action, must be counteracted at every given opportunity, lest those who perpetrate it construe our silence as attrition.

All the "Politically Correct" movement managed to do was add a whole mess of hyphens and unnecessary syllables to our already convoluted national vocabulary.

Besides, I was around during the 1990s, and I seem to remember that "Political Correctness" was shot down as a joke by all but the most thin-skinned Ritalin cases.

Don't you remember? Or were you too busy playing with your Big Bad Beetleborg figures to notice?

Iran is much less unified than people make it out to be.

First off, only about 15% of the people support the government and theocracy, mostly from the countryside.

Secondly, has anyone here bothered to take a look at Iran's ethnic map? They have huge numbers of minorities in the form of Arabs, Azeris, Baluchs, and Kurds, and these minorities would probably be willing to fight on our side like the Kurds do in Iraq.
