Green Discharge: Here is a good example of a great Fark party.

Why the hell is everybody wearing clothes?? I've been deceived!!!

So I'm the first farkette in the thread to represent Greeley/Fort Collins? Only good bar I can think of is John Barleycorns or Old Chicago

Green Discharge: Hello? I have to work to keep the ball and chain in a lifestyle that he's accustomed to.

No doubt, she won't be coming to anymore trivia though. Was good for zero answers in two weeks. I need to start dating smarter girls.

JPenman: how about multi citied fark parties all set up for the release of snakes on a plane?

That was suggested by a couple of people (including me) and we were roundly mocked. Since then I've been too afraid to bring it up.

I would go to a Madison FP, but then people would have a face to go with the name and none of my vitriolic flamebaiting would have any meaning any more...

Fark parties are great places to meet people with similar interests.

Sometimes they're even cute, of the opposite sex, and will let you see them naked.

2006-05-31 11:48:27 PM
Mr. Programmer read my mind... not that I'd actually go to one.

2006-05-31 11:48:53 PM
NEVER a damn fark-based anything in Mobile. Matter of fact, has there ever been a Farty (just came up with it, thought it's probably been used before) in Alabama?

I would be willing to drive to san diego, but my gas bill would take away from my beer consumption (See my daily driver in profile)

Throwing a city name into this thread is not the way to generate a Fark party. Read the steps from the top again.

Surely you have shared your interest in Fark with some friends - there's your core group. Other people that read Fark probably share some interests with you, plus they live in the same town.

Not all Farkers are like Rippa, or his cute photoshopped picture. Most of them are normal people just like you.

I've met probably 300+ Farkers at the Fark parties I have attended. I've always been able to find several people that are interesting to talk to. Sure, there's always that weirdo - but that's part of the charm and gives you a good story for later.

As for the drinking - I don't drink, and still have a good time.

Howie_Feltersnatch: I've only seen one St. Louis party previously in the publicity tab. Are there any parties planned or in the making?

I second a St. Louis party.. any more?

Fark party Phoenix, at the Armadillo Grill, any given weekend. It's on Camelback Rd. Nothing formal, but I'd like to submit that bar as a place where Farkers can come to potentially strike up a conversation with other Farkers. If there are any other recommendations for Phoenix, let them be known.

It should ideally be close to public transit so people don't drink and drive. Should it be a weekend or a weeknight? Are there any good bars in or around downtown Berkeley?

Any Purdue Farkers up for a party when school starts up again.

Nod I was thinking about having a Fark party in east Philly/University City at Cavanaugh's (39th & Sansom), but it's a relatively small bar, and I don't know how many other philly farkers there are.

But it's a real nice bar owned and operated by one of my fraternity alumni (and you guys thought frats were useless) and he gives lots of jobs to undergrad brother's while they're in school.

Anyway, maybe some day.

2006-05-31 11:54:08 PM

Yeah, maybe you can even get pictures of her riding a bull.

Listen up folks, mechanical bulls are strongly suggested.

Much as I'd like to go to a Tennessee party... Nashville or Memphis is much too far to drive. Knoxville would be great, though..

Ok, having organized 2 successful parties, and co-organizing a 3rd before passing the baton to GaidinBDJ, here's what works:

1) Figure out which farkers are in your city, grab their email addresses.
2) When the list grows to 8-12, send a mass email to throw out the idea. Post a thread.
3) Gather ideas from the mass emails, require that all replies are sent as "reply to alls", work out a date and a location.
4) Around a month in advance, announce the "official" outcome of the brainstorming emails, using a thread. Some people will shoot it down in the thread, fark em, as long as you have the core group, as Jeff mentioned, you'll be fine.
5) Add other farkers from your area as you come across them.
6) Keep the emails going, but don't spam. Period.
7) The week of the party, announce it in a thread on Monday or Tuesday (if the party is on satuyrday), to remind everyone and pick up new people.
8) The day of the party, submit another thread.
9) Drink heravily with fellow farkers!
10) Profit.

/1st party had 25-30
2nd party had 40+
3rd was up to 50+ farkers

I moved. The cycle starts again.

Ya know, from the sounds of it, we have an over-abundance of pussies around these parts. If you can't hang with the big boys, stay in your mom's basement. Here's a typical Saturday in these parts:

I haven't been to DC for several years. I haven't heard Drew mention going there any time recently either. If we get an excuse to come out, there will definately be a party. I don't just hop on a plane to attend parties all over the world - no lotto winnings for me yet. Drew does a lot more travelling to promote the site - radio and TV gigs.

As for the multiple city parties - Again, you've got to follow the formula... leaders for each city, and get it planned together then post the links.

McDork: I need to send you those pictures.

Yes, there's someone sitting next to me who'd love to see them.

I so want to have an Omaha fark party, but I'm only 20 :(

Host one yourself, speakeasy style. You better have a billiard table and a pool and horseshoe pits and TONS of booze, tho.

Green Discharge: DFW and San Antonio baby.

And San Diego, and Huntington Beach, and OKC, and Dayton (x2), and Atlanta, and Niagara. Not that I've ever gone to one.
