Who the fark cares about hockey?

2002-06-14 01:26:36 PM
Lemiux has to be the biggest bastard on skates besides Tie Domi. That hit on Drapes was just wrong.
McCarty got 'em back though.

2002-06-14 01:26:36 PM
Ice Hockey's not bad, though.

2002-06-14 01:29:01 PM
bites on Clown's line and put in smelly bucket

2002-06-14 01:30:56 PM
Shogo Yahagi-pretty much everyone here. Now go away.

ClownCollegeGraduate so is hockey laughable or not bad? You've advocated both.

By the way, try knocking America in German or Russian. If it wasn't for us, you've be quite capable of it.

Kerouac:

and every night before they sleep, they should say a little prayer for Bobby Clarke, whose stupid trade stocked their [Avs] entire team.

Actually, the trade that brought Lindros to Philly was made while Clarke wasn't with the team for those couple of years. Ed Snider is to blame for that.

Funkychuck,

Ice Hockey is the only American sport I like. It's cool.

2002-06-14 01:37:15 PM
ClownCollege and I got nothing against soccer. I was in Birmingham when they get the premiership just a month or so back and it was awesome.

I just hate when soccer fans assume a sport they've watched for ten minutes without a full understanding of it sucks.

2002-06-14 01:38:02 PM
Frolixo: I was thrid row blue line at the game when McCarty gave it to him. I was about 15 feet from that. I couldn't speak for two days from all the screaming.

2002-06-14 01:39:57 PM
Funkuchuck,

I watched American Football, Baseball and Ice Hockey quite regularly to get into them. I couldn't. The only sport that lifted up my skirt was Ice Hockey.

It's just fun to play the "YOUR SPORT SUCKS MINE RULES, YOU GAY HOMOSEXUAL FAG" game on FARK.

2002-06-14 01:40:11 PM
I was at a Detroit/Montreal game in the Joe a few years back and they handed out this poster of the three greatest moments in Wings history as voted on by the fans. they were the 97 and 98 cup wins and that huge fight in 97 after all that shiat with Lemiux/Draper/McCarty went down. They showed Claude's face just looking like hamburger on the big screen and the whole house starts cheering.

Two words:

Dale Hunter

2002-06-14 01:41:40 PM
See, I'm with ya on baseball. I think it had it's heyday in the early 1900's and just needs to go away. Football I like because I went to OSU and I met a lot of the guys playing today.

And yes, Eddie George is in fact God.

I'm a big fan of soccer. I'm more partial to indoor (faster paced), but outdoor is pretty amazing too. I'm a keeper by trade (old hockey reflexes have come in VERY handy indoors), and it just amazes me what some people can do to that ball with their feet.

I play in an indoor co-ed league, and there is one girl I play against that has my number pegged. I kid you not, if you had a wall with a circular hole that was 1 foot in diameter larger than a soccer ball, she could put the ball through that hole from 20 feet away more often than not... so when she shoots from about 10 feet away, my only chance is some acrobatic save. Purely amazing.

2002-06-14 01:45:08 PM
Of all the "major" sport athletes, hockey players are by far the dumbest (and that includes Mike Tyson).

2002-06-14 01:46:09 PM
Very cool Albatross, he beat him like a redheaded stepchild.

2002-06-14 01:46:19 PM
As a wings fan:

I respect any team that makes it past the second round playoffs. The NHL season is ridiculously long and grueling, the game is very physically demanding. Even more reason Stevie Y is the man.

Pro football is still the most brutal but the short season helps keep their players out of wheelchairs and coffins. (and not always either)

The wings earned this, it was clearly no cake walk, and it will be interesting to see how the team recovers from all of the changes it is likely to endure very soon. To the avs: You've beaten us in the playoffs more, but we've got more cups. Nya nya. (well, for now anyway :P)

2002-06-14 01:47:35 PM
The best part about that was when he dragged the beaten fark over to the bench and showed Draper, after kneeing him in the head a couple of times. I was also at the next Detroit home game when those two lined up on the opening face off, and dropped their gloves as soon as they dropped the puck.

Frolixo: I was thrid row blue line at the game when McCarty gave it to him. I was about 15 feet from that. I couldn't speak for two days from all the screaming.

I hate to use this term, but:

Best.Revenge Game.Ever

I love how the refs seemed to be 'distracted' for some bit of time when that all went down.

Headline in the Freep the next day "Blood on the Ice"

Complete with a pic of Darren dragging him on the ice.

I wish I had saved that..

2002-06-14 01:50:38 PM
Sweater Girl: Preach it! That was the first time Lemiux didn't get off the ice as soon as McCarty hit it. He was on the opposite side of a huge scrum (my side) and I see Darren tearing around the pack. Our whole section went apeshiat. Lemiux, predictably, turtles and McCarty just rips his helmet off his head and goes to work. Ah, memories.

2002-06-14 01:51:00 PM
Dale Hunter, Ulf Samuelsson, yes both turds.
And then there's Brashear, Darcy Tucker, Worrel....

2002-06-14 01:51:41 PM
C'mon people. We're still 27 posts behind the soccer thread. Let's get this show on the road!

2002-06-14 01:52:32 PM
Claude is an a-hole. I was glad that he was on my team and not someone elses for a couple of years, or it might have been Joe or Peter getting a cheapie.
Lets not forget the hit that preceded Claude's hit, though. You remember, don't you Wings fans? The one on Adam Foote that left him face down in an ever growing pool of blood. So don't try to believe that somehow the Red Wings are above that cheap crap.

Roy dancing with Osgood was priceless.

2002-06-14 01:52:57 PM
SweaterGirl, Albatross: If memory serves, I think Cam Neely did the same thing to Lemieux as well

2002-06-14 01:54:02 PM
This is a post to beat the soccer thread

2002-06-14 01:56:26 PM
Albatross

Thing is, bullyboy knew it was coming. That was one thing not afforded to Draper when he had his back turned before being shoved into the plexiglass.

Darren became a hero to everyone that night. And yeah, I remember the screaming:) It was so loud you couldn't hear anything else.

Claude sucks.

2002-06-14 01:56:40 PM
SuperCMC: Since when are athletes supposed to be scholars anyway? I wouldn't put football players or TYSON too far above hockey players, it's all about crackin' heads.

2002-06-14 01:58:09 PM
So don't try to believe that somehow the Red Wings are above that cheap crap

You're right Todd as Fisher proved in game 4.

2002-06-14 01:58:34 PM
Sweater Girl: Don't tell me about the hit, talk to Todd. I'm on your side. And I don't remember Foote having to have like 30 hours of reconstructive surgery.

2002-06-14 01:58:52 PM
And this is a post just in case someone else posted in the soccer thread

349 to 331! We can do it!

2002-06-14 02:03:25 PM

Everyone is pretty much Scotty's biatch.

2002-06-14 02:03:28 PM
I'd give fisher the benefit of the doubt, he's a young guy who had taken alot of runs his way. If he keeps it up, then I'll start to not like him at all.

Let's see...adam foote...is that the guy who gets to run hog wild all over the ice while the refs stare blankly in his direction? That guy is no saint, if he got popped he probably saw it coming.

2002-06-14 02:03:30 PM
heh Albatross

I was pointing that out for anyone who didn't know what happened:)

Bass555 You sir, are correct:
(from an article in Maxim)

Denis Leary agrees: "People watch this game because they love the game in total, and that includes a guy like Cam Neely grabbing Claude Lemieux and beating the shiat out of him-and I mean a righteous beating. If they actually sold this game the way it's played, the ratings would go through the roof. But it's like legalizing drugs-it's the right thing to do, but you can't do it because it's politically incorrect."

Denis Leary is a hockey fan!! Woohoo!!!

06-14-02 01:58:52 PM Funkychuck
And this is a post just in case someone else posted in the soccer thread

I'll post to that.

2002-06-14 02:06:56 PM
Sweater Girl You didn't know Denis Leary was a hockey fan? He hosts that benefit for the Cam Neely foundation every year. Huge Bruins fan.

2002-06-14 02:07:01 PM
Sweater girl/Bass555:

Heh, the first game after Draper got clocked by claude the fraud Don Cherry showed that fight between Neely and Lemieux on coach's corner. It was kinda cool watching Neely get so annoyed with the turtle that he grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and started slamming him into the boards head first. Oh yeah...Don Cherry rules too.

2002-06-14 02:07:40 PM
Wow - thats sad; here's another post that'll help you beat the soccer post. Hmust be seriously boring if you're getting competitive about the number of posts in a thread.

To be honest I don't care about hockey one way or the other, good luck to all with it, I'm only here cause I heard you were getting pathetic about it.

Amen brother, amen. Nothing south of the border will EVER be 'Hockeytown'. 'Hockeytown, USA' maybe, but never EVER 'Hockeytown'.

Be careful here. Detroit is NORTH of Canada (Windsor).

2002-06-14 02:09:34 PM
funkychuck I knew he hosted it, but I thought it was jusst because they were buds:)

Crucible hahahahaha!

2002-06-14 02:09:46 PM
Sweater Girl: Yeah, him and Cam are tight.

Number_twenty3: You are also correct. I'm sad that he's not going to stick around and defend the cup, but if there's anyone who has earned retirement, it's him. It's not like he has anything more to prove. I hope they give Dave Lewis the nod. He's earned his shot.

2002-06-14 02:11:09 PM
here is a post to beat the soccer thread eventhough i don't care

2002-06-14 02:11:15 PM

Thanks for the Montreal cups Scotty :)

2002-06-14 02:11:36 PM
QUICK! TO THE GIS!!

I want to see pictures of

A: Shanahan telling that lady to shave her pits in game 4

and

B: Lemiux getting a beatin' thrown at him

2002-06-14 02:15:25 PM
Clown College is a poopy head

2002-06-14 02:17:07 PM
Hey hats off to the Wings,Im no fan but there wasn't a team that wanted the cup worse than Detroit.People can biatch and moan about the high salaries and the arrogant attitudes on the team but the wings had more heart and desire than anyone in the NHL this year, hands down.

Sweater Girl:Mom is pretty happy for her "Stevie Y"
