Yeah, yeah. These monkeys are following me because I just took this car. Obviously the car doesn't belong to me, it's not my style, it belongs to Dick. Dick Hotchkiss, the California state senator. You remember Dick? He's the guy who tried to ban rap music because he feels that the lyrics promote violence. It's music, Dick! He's also the guy who wants to pull every video game off every shop in the country, because he feels that the video games diminishing intelligence of our youth. Come on, Dick... It's only education we got.

The Corvette's hard top weighs between 5 and 10 pounds. If there is a complete separation, the roof panel may detach from the vehicle and it could strike another vehicle.

Now that's not something you see everyday.

I drive a '96 Chevy Cavalier. I adore it.

Would I buy another Chevy?

...no farking way.

Why didn't I dump my GM stock when it stirred just a bit from a deep slumber in the late 90s?

Crap.

Suddenly buying that 2006 Kia Rio doesn't seem like such a bad purchase. May not be the coolest car, or the fastest car, but at least I know that my roof will remain with the car as I do 85...I mean, the speed limit, down the freeway.

/I get hit by a corvette roof, I'm trading up at GM's expense.

Must more likely a couple started to rattle so they're fixing it. Including the worst case scenerio is part of the engineering process and doesn't mean it happened.

They made the frames out of magnesium, doesn't that burn fast and hot in a fire?

Dude, that's a nice pull, seriously. I remember when they first installed it and the one dude was like "alright, 1..2..3..C button! Knight Rider ruled.

That's it..The C button is the new euphamism for the Clitoris.

Magnesium has an ignition temperature of 850 degrees. If your frame is hot enough to ignite, you have far more serious issues.

Racing wheels have been made out of Mg for years. Where do you think the term Mag wheel came from?

A Kia doing 85mph.... that's funny

I think sliding on your top would probably hit 850 deg. pluss it is quite a soft metal and wouldn't give much support so you probablywouldn't mind too much if it is on fire too.

In some of the middle of no where places here in Texas (those places that are dirt, road, snakes and 20 miles to the nearest town) I did over 100 in my last car, a 1995 Kia Sephia.

/personally thinks that there shouldn't be speed limits in areas like that.
//happy that some areas here in Texas have been raised to 85 MPH, again, those middle of no where places.

In what way does this qualify as "glitch." Car-going-to-pieces-while-driving-at-speed I think qualifies as something more serious than "glitch."

Let me get this straight. They glued the top to a $65,000 car? Didn't they learn anything from the 70's Chrysler products? Chrysler glued the head and tail light assemblies into the late '70's models. Texas had record heat in 1980 (100+ for 30 days) and a large number of the assemblies fell out when the glue melted. Often while the car was on the highway. Running over your own headlights is a strange experience. I just can't believe that GM is gluing $65,000 cars together.

pontiacfarker its obviosly a removable hardtop of a type of T-Top .

not necessarily. i have a convertable which has a removable hard top. check my profile for pics.

this has never happend to me, but every time i drive i have a chance of this happening to me. all that holds my hard top down is 2 bolts in the rear deck and 3 little clamps in the front. thankfully those front clamps hold that top down pretty damn tight.
