So, what else is new?
The only difference here is that his wife was smart enough to turn on a tape recorder.
Otherwise this kind of shiat probably happens hundreds of times a day because that's how things work under a police state.

"They done many good things," says Sheriff McClellan about the former deputies. "But, a lot of times especially in the law enforcement profession one bad thing will overshadow every good thing you've ever done."

from a cop, that's baffling.

i really doubt they'd take my charity work into account if i busted into their house and beat them will a rubber mallet until their eyes bled, ya know?

This is one of the worst incidents cops has done in years. While there are incorruptible cops out there, I think there's a larger majority that have far more in common with those they arrest than you think. Cops bend the rules all the time, this is just an extreme example.

If you thought the 'War on Drugs' abuses were bad, wait 'till the 'War on Terror' legislation *really* kicks in!

None of the various 'war on [whatever]' have succeeded either. Terror, povery, drugs - you name it, they've all failed. You'd figure the voters would have caught on by now that all of them are a scam.

Bobbylishus: and this is why i hate cops. if it wasn't for this recording, these guys woulda gotten off scott free.

I still don't know why, in this age of digital recorders and large capacity backup systems, cops aren't required to record ALL interactions with the public, and hold them for some minimum time frame. Lose the recording? Fired. Erase a recording? Fired + charges. Forget to record? Fired.

No, I think all of Fark hates the Westboro Baptist Church. And I'd be surprised if there wasn't a united stance on this article.

This scares me far far more than any terrorist threat ever could.

We have enemies, and always will, and there will be tragedies that accompany this fact.

But when, and especially in the face of external threats, your own 'side'--your own government--becomes every bit the enemy as well... things are pretty damn bleak.

Once things like this are happening though, the time for outrage has long long since passed. I'm afraid things are already much too far gone for just being upset at.

somehow i don't think the punishment, if there is any, will amunt to all that much. they'll still get a big, fat pension when they retire. porkers are above the law---get that straight.

They are. They erase them.

Got quite a few crooked cop cases come accross a client's desk.

I was so happy when they went to jail, and all those who they pissed off, their friends as well knew who it was.

Public records are great, people don't understand that our justice system does what it does for a reason, even disclosing every detail about a farking crook, cop or not.

Yeah but a lot of people were against the no protesting at funerals legislation designed to stop those assholes.

Shadowspawn: They are. They erase them.

Yeah I know, I got a juvenile DUI forever ago, nailed the field tests but the tape of that got mysteriously erased.

Is America really so frigid that kids lose their innocence by seeing a girl's nipple???
Sorry, my sarcasmometer seems out of order.

In Europe we have more nipples in butter commercials. Nobody gives a shiat, and we talk to our kids about what they see on TV. We don't just shut them away from reality.
The whole fuss was totally ridiculous.

As much as I like your idea Great Caesar that seems like a very expensive (of course if we stopped the War on Drugs we'd be able to afford it) idea and possibly problematic. Of course, reducing the resolution massively and taking slow frame video and poor audio quality would not be too bad. Then you can reference them based strictly on reports of brutality and improper conduct, and strict rules for possible abuse should be there if a tape is lost in high profile charges. I mean if someone says the cops were rough with me and they're pissed, check and the tape is missing, nothing out of the ordinary was really said by them, run with the officers comments. Say you were brutally tortured and your life and that of your wife was threatened, if that tape is missing then there is hell raised there.

They do it for interrogations, which was a great step.

From jamspoon's link: "Sammy has a history of good deeds, not only in the community but nationally. He served in the military for years"

The military is the worst choice for policing a society. This has been proven time and time throughout human's recorded history.

But then again it doesn't take much to be a cop. Just a drive to cause pain to other human beings, and the ability to collect a paycheck for it without any feelings.

Read this on digg. Would think it would be old news (the cops were convicted). The dude was a drug dealer and is in jail too. But it doesn't warrant an uber ass-whoopin'.

1. 2. 3. 4.

Tonights the night that we got the truck
Were goin downtown gonna beat up drunks
Your turn to drive Ill bring the beer
Its the late, late shift no one to fear
And ride, ride how we ride
We ride, lowride

Gonna drag one screaming off the street

And ride, ride how we ride

Playin cops for real/playin cops for pay

Lets ride, lowride

Pull down your dress heres a kick in the ass
Lets beat you blue til you shiat in your pants

I know I felt depressed after reading this. That sick feeling you get when you know a society is too stupid to last.

Please tell me you were just joking. Have some pity.

in my town, the cops regularly beat the homeless for kicks (no pun intended) and the evidence locker is notorious for not being locked.

It's hard to respect police officers when you hear crap like this every day. Screw you, pigs. I hope these douchebags rot in jail for the rest of their lives.

Vangor: As much as I like your idea Great Caesar that seems like a very expensive (of course if we stopped the War on Drugs we'd be able to afford it) idea and possibly problematic. Of course, reducing the resolution massively and taking

If every police station purchased a relatively simple video system (I mean, couple hundred bucks to get a good camcorder) instead of buying toys for the cops to play with, it would easily be affordable. They'd rather spend our tax money on shiat they don't need though.

Do you think donuts make cops violent? Did they feed donuts to the torturing perverts at Abu Ghraib? What make perverts cops? or cops perverts?

I loved how the cops families were like "that's too much, waaaaaah waaaah" I can see that they've been trained well to understand that cops breaking the law isn't a big deal. They only hold the power of life and death in their hands after all.

Novart: Am I really the only person here who didn't want to see Janet's ugly tit?

If you find that tit ugly, you probably haven't seen a lot of tit in your life.
Seriously, the public outrage was very revealing...

2006-05-27 02:12:28 PM
Sorry. No matter what a perp has done, the greater injustice is the destruction of due process. Besides, if you have ever read the transcript of that tape (I have, a few months ago), you'll realize that these cops had no interest in justice, this was extortion for personal profit and they were drug dealers themselves.

The whole lot of them should have been tried for treason and hanged. These are the things that can destroy a nation.
