The 10 best beatdowns ever in sports*

(Lots of these guys juice, so apparently it doesn't count)

2006-05-26 02:51:24 PM
Feh. List is incomplete without the Refs' epic beatdown of the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

2006-05-26 02:54:43 PM
For his 91-second effort, Tyson made $20 million, which works out to about $800,000,000 an hour.

Not bad money for an hours work.

Where's Kermit Washington?

2006-05-26 03:03:19 PM
oh fox, you and your fancy words.

we need VIDEO.

Shardovan: Where's Kermit Washington?

Wow, I had forgotten that. Screwed Rudy up, big time.

Shardovan: Where's Kermit Washington?

Agree, and where is Nolan Ryan?

"reading" about sports makes my eyes glaze over. Please, more savvy Farkers, post pics.

Kermit Washington.
Parrish's in-your-face slap-down of Bill Laimbeer.
Marvin Barnes' artistry with a tire iron.
Bill Lee.

BUT THE *BEST* SPORTS FIGHT **EVER**: Ken Tasker vs Trevor Senn

There are videos on the side.

BTW: Tasker vs. Senn can be found here:

sullyman: Agree, and where is Nolan Ryan?

You mean the #2 entry on the list?

2006-05-26 03:24:06 PM
Agree, and where is Nolan Ryan?

In at #2.

And I wouldn't consider Kermit Washington's sucker punch a beatdown, because Rudy had no chance to respond.

this thread is useless without video

Kinda puts that whole Springer suspension thing into perspective

What, no honorable mention for Andy Golotta slugging his opponents in the nuts?

2006-05-26 03:52:03 PM
Pffft!

The only hockey moment is a cheap shot by the little ass Tie Domi. What bollocks.

Maybe one of the following instead?:
- Cam Neely giving the beat down to Claude Lemieux
- Ron Hextall going psycho on Chris Chelios in the late 80's
- Troy Mallette giving a KO to Murray Baron (here's a link that might work: http://www.hockeyfights.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=422&d=114750050 6 if it doesn't work, go to http://www.hockeyfights.com/videos/ and choose Baron vs Mallette)

... Nolan Ryan??? You mean those noogies he threw at Robin Ventura classifies as a "beatdown"?

If that's the case, Kevin Arnold got a beatdown by his older brother on every episode of The Wonder Years.

2006-05-26 03:55:15 PM
Nerdlinger: You mean the #2 entry on the list?

No idea how I missed that.

2006-05-26 04:05:33 PM
I stopped at #10. However much Ulf deserved to get creamed, sucker-punching someone isn't cool, nor does it qualify as a "beat-down".

2006-05-26 04:08:26 PM
Where's Juan Marichal beating John Roseboro over the head with a bat?

2006-05-26 04:16:16 PM
Yeah, if Domi is on the list for a cheap shot, there's no question that Kermit Washington should be #1.

2006-05-26 04:29:52 PM
swahnhennessy - It may have been a sucker punch, but that doesn't stop tie from selling autographed photos of "the knockout" from his website :eye roll goes here:

/list need more Bob Probert, Joey Kocur, or even Curt Fraser.

2006-05-26 04:34:25 PM
Anyone have a link to the Kyle Farnsworth-Paul Wilson brawl video? Farnsworth's 2005 tackle of Jeremy Affeldt is still on the MLB.com website, but they delete anything 2004 and older.

PS: Why couldn't Todd Bertuzzi have gone after Domi instead (you know, waited awhile to overreact about something)? It would've been a fitting end to that cheap shot artist's career.

Normally I'd agree with you, but when the guy you're sucker-punching is Ulf Samuelsson, a far-bigger cheap shot artist than Domi, I'll beg to differ.

At least Domi would drop them.

2006-05-26 04:52:08 PM
Nice to see they included Chuck Lidell's beatdown of Tito Ortiz at #4. Glad to see Fox Sports giving some respect to MMA. Can't wait for Hughes vs. Gracie tomorrow.

I was really hoping to read about that beatdown Robert Parish of the Celtics gave to... D'oh! What was his name?!? It happened right in the paint, in full view of everybody, and Parish didn't even get a foul for it. Classic!

2006-05-26 04:57:18 PM
Oh, and Pedro Martinez throwing around Don Zimmer like a ragdoll.

2006-05-26 05:16:18 PM
"I thaw the fear in his eyes and I knew it'd be a first round knockout."

I would have agreed, until I saw Domi give Scott Niedermeyer a nice cheap elbow to the face in the playoffs a few years ago. As far as I'm concerned, Domi can die in a fire.

Yarborough vs. Allison and Allison.

/ Well, maybe not a beatdown, but funny nonetheless

Domi's a jerkoff but Scott Stevens isn't exactly Lady Byng material either. And I don't mean the Eric Lindros stuff.

Was Tyson really that much of a badass in his early career?

/Couldn't pay attention, was 5 at the time.

Third Day Mark: Was Tyson really that much of a badass in his early career?

Yes he was.
I remember when he became famous, he knocked out any guy within 3 rounds. He had an aura of an animal. Unbelievable. Still today he is regarded as an absoutely mean machine without any kind of self-control.

Seconded.
