My sister quit being a paramedic because she couldn't lift the 500lb heart attack victims anymore.

Can't they just throw 'em on the back of a flatbed?

And speaking of obese people, has anyone else noticed that the fatties seem to like to ride those electric wheelchairs at the grocery store?

I say leave 'em to die. Fat people don't deserve love or proper medical treatment.

I just dont get it
I mean in all honesty, how could anyone actually live that way?
Is it really accepted in Amerika to be so fat?

I had a friend who put on a couple kilos after taking a between year from school and doing an exchange year in America and he said that after a couple months he hated it, he said he felt shiatty all the time from the unhealthy food and after half a year became a vegetarian and joined a local soccer club.

if we can't stop america from getting fatter, might as well just make everything super sized. I like the idea of the ramp and wench used to pull the fatass into the ambulance

In my year, I didn't gain that much, around 15 lbs on a 145 lb frame. But the diet did make me long for veggies and, fer chrissakes, a common boiled potato. Not mashed or fried, just boiled. Didn't see one of those for a whole year. Took about a year to get rid of the excess weight.

Poor self control. These people should be forced into cognitive therapy or something. Something makes them eat.

dumle: yea, i actually spent half a year in America myself. But fortunatly ive got a metabolism that can handle just about anything.

Although jeez, first thing I did when i got back to europe, was to eat some real cheese, some real bread, have a real beer, and afterwards eat a real pizza.

Capt. Happy Hour: Ha! Nice.

Sadly, not news to me. I was reading Advance (nursing magazine) and there was an article about this "progressive" hospital that was taking all these measures to accommodate the morbidly obese patient population - sturdier lifts, "bariatric" beds that are wider and feature stronger hydraulics, wider doorways, XXXL gowns, even longer needles because shots that were supposed to go into muscles weren't able to penetrate all that fat.

On one hand, it's pretty damned sad that there's a need for it. On the other, it's nice that healthcare professionals aren't having to bust our backs anymore for these supersized patients (many of whom don't even appreciate the massive effort it takes).

PS - Steroids make you puffy - they don't give you a gunt.

I love fatty threads.

I'm playing Final Fantasy IX (I've had the game a few years and just got around to it), and there is this goofy looking thing that is big and round and has a red flopping tongue. When it came time to name it, I named him Fatty. Best part is he alwaysa harps on about food and eating.

Makes the dialogue classic.

"Hey Fatty, you can't eat that frog!!"

2006-05-22 12:25:15 PM
They should charge extra for transporting fat people, and if you don't lose weight then your insurance companies/government should kindly tell you to fark off.

g33kmOm, since you seem to know me so well I think I'll keep this going ...

I'm sorry to hurt your feelings ... So please tell me, how fat are you? Or, is it your fat mother who makes you run to the store to buy fudge rounds? Please share.

This thread has not even started to be cruel yet.

Let's get it started the right way.

Perhaps if we opened up a hunting season on people that fat and sold their blubber for soap and perfume and started making shoes from their hides, they would reconsider before they supersized their second value meal.

misanthropic1 bigjoel Do you know where that pic is from?

I don't. It's usually the first pic thrown up on a fattie thread. I GIS'd it.

She's really let herself go hasn't she? She probably longs for the days when her curb weight didn't exceed that of an Audi.

i work at a zoo and we rent out motorized carts for $25. when i first started there, I figured people would rather walk than pay that much for a couple hours.

i was dead wrong. they're all rented out to big people every single day.

Homer: One for "Honk", please.
Ticketeer: Oh. Gee, uh, just a minute. I have to check with the manager.
(That overweight guy wants to see the movie.)
Manager: I'm terribly sorry, sir, but I'm afraid our facilities are not equipped to meet your needs.
Homer: What are you talking about?
Manager: What I'm saying, sir, is that a man of your carriage couldn't possibly fit in our seats.
Homer: I can sit in the aisle.
Manager: I'm afraid that would violate the fire code.
Bystander: Hey, Fatty! I've got a movie for ya: "A Fridge Too Far"!

The picture that bigjoel posted makes me wonder...
What happens to your nerves once you become morbidly obese? I ask because I wonder does that woman not feel that part of her stomach is hanging out of her dress?

...and what's a gunt? (though I'm afraid to find out the answer)

2006-05-22 12:39:05 PM
FTFA: To ease the loading of patients exceeding 700 pounds, the vehicle carries a foldable metal ramp. An onboard electric winch is employed to pull the wheeled stretcher into the ambulance.

Frightening, truly frightening.

2006-05-22 12:39:19 PM
I went to the mall the other day for a bathing suit, and the proportion of fat people (REALLY fat, not just a few pounds over) was something like 3:5.

I'm thinking of sticking a picture of a fat person on my fridge. It would probably stop me from snacking pretty damn well.

2006-05-22 12:40:29 PM
Ambulance: From Latin ambulare, to walk -- ironic, because most of these people can't.
