Your proof is...?

Sorry. I forgot. Remote allegations are proof enough. My bad...

Please carry on.

Uncle Tom you say?

Have you seen any police doing anything about illegal immigration?

You don't need to be a genius to figure out that if the ACLU or whom ever is halting police stops because of racial profiling would just switch to a random stops they could get back to doing what they are paid for.

Say every police person checked the people around them at 9 an 3 o'clock tommarow. If they really cared they would find a way.

Vote for StokyBob for Attorney General.

GONZALES: You know, it's unclear. It's unclear. And I've looked at this issue, I've talked to my parents about it, and it's just not clear.

Complete bullsh*t.
If they had become Americans citizens there would have been a big deal made, there would have been celebrations, it would have been spoken about proudly over the years, etc.

Judging by his hemming and hawing you can pretty much bet the house they were wetbacks.

I would think the fact the they're 'unclear' is pretty telling. Shouldn't they have some sort of citizenship papers?

My parents came to Canada in 1967, they're positive they did it legaly and their citizenship papers seem to back them up.

Let me see now. At one time they were in Mexico. Now they are in the USA. They have no proof that they came here legally. Soooo???

Well you are right. Lack of proof is not proof of lack. We should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Say! Does that mean we should give everyone the benefit of the doubt? Great idea! If they have no proof of citizenship, lets just assume they are OK!

If I remember right, part of the proposed immigration reform was that being born of foreign parents in the USA would no longer make you a citizen by default.

Does that mean that the Attorney General is not an American? Or does that whole "no retroactive laws" thing get in the way?

Can you get a Presidential Pardon for not being an American?

If he benefited directly from illegal immigration, it's a little bit hypocritical for him to take a hardline stance against it.

I would have to laugh if Mr. "Torture is OK" ended up being deported by a law that he advocated.

I was born in Mexico. But you can't touch me! I have documentation.

/real documentation
///no really

We are a sovereign nation. We have to have control of our borders. And in the post-9/11 world, we absolutely have to know, this country has to know, who is coming in and why. It is absolutely essential.

Oh, no he di'int!

Seriously, there must be some sort of Godwin's Law for invoking the 'post-9/11 world' boogeyman.

Neocon'd? Asshatted? I just don't have a talent for snappy names.

Gonzalez was born in San Antonio in 1955. His parents were born in the US...let's say that they were young...20 or so when he was born. That puts them as born in the US...
GONZALES: Well, three of my grandparents were born in Mexico.

When did they come across the river? What was the immigration law then?
2006-05-17 06:13:22 PM
I wasn't born in the US. My family immigrated to the US- dad came here about 2 years before I was born, I was a product of mom visiting him and checking out what sort of setup he'd put together for his wife and only child (my sister). By the time Mom, sis, and I came to America, we all had greencards.

I'm unclear as to my father's status at the time he came to America. If he was typical of the rest of my relatives, he overstayed his tourist visa and had someone sponsor him, my uncle (his bro) in all probability.

At any rate, my family and I take a pretty hard line on immigration- if for no other reason that it is perfectly reasonable to attain legal status if you so desire- we're all living proof.

Our immigration policy is horribly flawed, an no one has the brains or balls to fix it.

Holey cow man. Now that we are no longer a country of laws, I finally get enough votes to go to Washington and illegally be the new Attorney General and I don't even spell my own name right. It should have been.

Vote for StokeyBob for Attorney General.

P.S. I just wanted to add that I would be willing to work a lot cheaper.
