Exactly, Johnny..

"I think we can trust the president of Cuba..."

Dumbass? How so? I think its pretty ballsy to put out there.

Fidel Castro: "Eh, the Americans aren't so bad. They named a street after me in San Francisco."
Aide whispers to him
Castro: "It's full of what?!!"

Or just plain senile.

I am still amazed that the duhministration can see fit to be nice to Libya, but not our needed vacation spot Cuba.

It's Jeb's fault.

I have noticed that whatever certain people do or say it's always labeled "dumbass" on Fark. What's dumbass about this statement?

Bad move on Castro's part. Most governments are quite adept at fabricating evidence, and the US is certainly no exception...

2006-05-16 02:06:02 PM
Castro probably forgot his account codes.. so by challenging the US to find them for him... he can then resign and go spend it!

2006-05-16 02:07:03 PM
He has a zero net-worth, huh? And Sadamm Hussein got 100% of the vote with 100% turnout in his last election too. Oh, and Kim Jong Il got 14 holes-in-one on his first ever golf game.

2006-05-16 02:07:46 PM
Wow, so will I!

2006-05-16 02:07:46 PM
You can tell he's broke just by looking at him. He only has one outfit for god sake!

/he looks like he smells

2006-05-16 02:07:55 PM
Of course his personal worth is probably zero. It's all owned by the government (oh, I'm sorry, "the people"). He just gets to use it. Exclusively. Because the people love him. And stuff.

2006-05-16 02:08:10 PM
Technically, all of his property is owned by the government right? So, HE doesn't really own anything.

/probably wrong

2006-05-16 02:08:30 PM
Fidel loves to play with semantics. Who'd a thunk it.

2006-05-16 02:08:38 PM
I guess Castro wants to retire.

2006-05-16 02:08:53 PM
GAH! 15 seconds.

2006-05-16 02:09:31 PM
But will he give back Elian?

Ok, so prove something and put him between a rock and a hard place. No one disputes the life of the Cuban president is not hard but $900m? Find the foreign bank.

I agree with you, although I hear that Libya has some fantastic beaches.

Let's all sit back and watch the dictator loving left twist their backs trying to show how he's not rich, not a dictator and a glorious leader. If you're not bored with that already, that is.

2006-05-16 02:10:42 PM
Yea, because the US couldn't fake an account in a foreign bank.

Actually he is wealthy, The goverment has pics of him taking payoffs and bribes.

My guess is he is senile.

/Hey, if you have your health, you're the richest man alive. oh...nevermind.

"Castro says he will resign if US can prove he's make him wealthy"

2006-05-16 02:12:32 PM
Its kinda like Bill Clinton

when he was Governor of Arkansas he only made 50K

But he had a huge fully stocked mansion
his food ways paid for
he had a taxpayer funded entertainment budget
he had transportation provided by the state
etc.

When you run a reasonably large government unit you don't have to have money to be obscenely wealthy

adm_crunch: Oh, and Kim Jong Il got 14 holes-in-one on his first ever golf game.

Yeah, well Mario Lemieux scored on his first shot, on his first shift, in his first NHL game.

While we are at it, lets watch the hypocrtical right-wingers make non-sequitur attacks. Just because he is not democrtically elected doesn't mean he has money in Switzerland.

Let's all sit back and watch the dictator loving right twist their backs trying to show how he's so much worse than Pinochet, Suharto and all the other right-wing dictators the US supported.

You'd be hard-pressed to show any evidence that Castro is worse that the guys he replaced.

2006-05-16 02:14:10 PM
Kinda like how John Kerry didn't own an SUV? That kind of thing?

2006-05-16 02:15:32 PM
I suspect that Castro's offer is as legitimate as Kent Hovind's "$250,000" offer to anyone who can "prove evolution".

Hey, I've been to Cuba and I know the people are not happy. But you also have to recognize how silly it looks for the United States to open up trade with China and Vietnam while continuing this childish little embargo.

2006-05-16 02:16:32 PM
How old is Castro? :O

2006-05-16 02:16:34 PM
Hmm, looks like Fidel Castro will be the next Publisher's Clearing House winner.

He's still a dictator. That's all the evidence you need.

Why is China a Most Favored Nation, while Castro is considered the devil?

2006-05-16 02:17:05 PM
Ahhh Cuba, one of the US Government's best propaganda successes.

2006-05-16 02:17:25 PM
Castro will never "step down". Cockroaches like that have to be squished.
Id love to see a democratic Cuba. trade bans lifted. Cuba would be REBORN.

Adman12: But you also have to recognize how silly it looks for the United States to open up trade with China and Vietnam while continuing this childish little embargo.

I have always wondered about that. Is it just hold out legacy from JFK times?

2006-05-16 02:17:53 PM
Nah, all Castro has to do is hire the folks who were in the accounting department for Paramount Pictures in the late 80s/early 90s. If anyone can cooks the books, they can... ask Art Buchwald.

2006-05-16 02:18:42 PM
Castro doesn't own anything.

He just gets to borrow anything he wants for as long as he wants.

Why is China a Most Favored Nation, while Castro is considered the devil?
Because anti-Maoist Chinese emigres don't form the most powerful voting block in a key swing state.

Tentacle Fidel loves to play with semantics. Who'd a thunk it.

At least he puts some efforts at lying. He doesn't just make a monkey face while telling straight lies in an unsubtle way.

cannotsuggestaname: Is it just hold out legacy from JFK times?

It was, but now it's political catering to the Cuban-Americans in Florida, all of whom vote Republican. Now we have one of them in the U.S. Senate, so we'll be anti-Cuba for a long, long time...
